Em.. I am trying to learn on my own but now and again there r words/phrases that i dont understand and some programs like Babel fish dont always do them accuratly, so thought i would post some on here and "hopefully" smile someone will be able to help me..
and to start (i know these r gonna seem very newbie german... but well i am)
Was machen die Frau und das Mädchen?
in that sentence what does the "machen" part mean.. as close to English word as poss please xd

machen = to make. in the sentence, it's conjugated for she, she being: Das Maedchen [which means "the girl"] machen = she makes mrgreen
edit: i forgot; machen can also mean "to do," and that's actually the way it's used in your sentence. cos it says "what are the girl and the woman doing."
that's basically what it is but i'm not sure if that's exactly correct, since i'm a beginner, too smile

It can also be translated as, "What are the woman and the girl doing?" instead of making.
