Since the begening of time there has been a balance between the demons and the humans. Each city has a spiritual energy that is constantly in check. With out humans there are no demons, with out the demons there would be no spiritual energy. The demons are unable to be seen by the humans, although the demons move through the humans as if they have no physical form. In fact those called demons don't, or atleast they didn't till the city's protector decided that humans were too coorupted to ever become pure again. Each city has a protector called a Karas. Each karas has a demon/spirital energy known as a Yurine sister. However there are rules. The sister and brother karas must never interfear in the others cities however they are allowed to visit.

Echo has decided to take over each sity one by one. He is a currupt Karas. A karas is a once human who is a warrior for the city. They usually have a bird like form, a warrior form, an underwater form, and a vehicle form. Each Karas is uniquie in looks and in the looks of their Yurine. A yurine is born when the soul of the Karas calls out to the city and the city is in need of a protector. Echo wants to kill all the humans and the city and start the city over with him as a ruler to rid the cities of corruptions, however when he does that all the demons and humans will cease to exist, it is up to the will of the city, the Yurine, Karas, Humans, and demons to put a stop to him.

There are Demons who have decided to give up their immortality and spiritual forms and take on a physical machine form, which has both a machine form and a human like form. However once they transform into a machine they need fuel, human blood to be exact. These Demons are known as Miriku. They work for the most part under echo, those who break away from echo are hunted down by other miriku.

If a human survives a Miriku harvest they can somehow see the spiritual bodies of the demons.

background: A Karas from a distant city, his Yurine has been missing for some time- and without his Yurine, he cannot call on his Karas abilities. HIs fighting abilities as a human are still above par, but until he can reunite with a Yurine and regain his Armour and all the abilities it gives, he is hard-pressed in the fight agaisnt the Mikura. He remembers little about how he became a Karas- though he does remember an assassination attempt, laying in a pool of his blood, and then waking up in the boat-house (however you'd call it) of Yurine. He has come to this city both in search of his Yurine or any other available Yurine who may have lost their Karas, and to hunt the Mikura and drive the scourge from the earth, though if they are Mikura who have rebelled agaisnt Echo, he has no qualms against fighting alongside them.

The dog's eyes were closed, and the wind blew a chill through the air. It was almost too silent in the park. The sound that comes just before it snows.

She showed no responce, her eyes watched a man who was walking along the street near the park. The man seemed to look at the spirits around them too.
The dog slowly picked her head up, her ears twititching but not moving more then that. Soft snow flakes began to fall around them.

As the man went out of sight there was the sound of a large explosion. The dog picked up her head and blinked and suddenly sat upright. It looked as if a fight between two demons might be starting. Or perhaps it was something much more imortant to the city with no karas.
The dog seemed to glow for a moment then dissipated.
She reappeared next to the explostion which happend to be at city hall. She stood next to a body and kneeled down next to it. Only she reappeared as a yurine to this one so close to death. "You who have suffered so much, called out to this city... Join me." She held her hand out to the one who stared at the sky.

*His head jerked up and around at the sound of the explosion, already moving as it lit up the night. HE quickly slid to the rooftops, moving easily from shadow to shadow and roof to roof with long, easy bounds- wishing his flying form was available to him, but alas. He arrived in time to see the Yurine kneeling next to the body, shaking his head softly* Damn. No chance to talk to her now...she's already chosen a Karas...

(Going to have some questions as to what a Karas deprived of his Yurine can/cant do tonight for you, Katie. Just a heads-up.)

*He slid down the side of the building, steel-soled boots occasionally striking sparks from the stone- and brick-work. About 10 feet from the ground he hit an awning, bouncing off of it with a flip and landing in a crouch, sword held just under the hilt by the scabbard, near the Yurine and her new Karas. She may not have been his Yurine, but as a Karas it was still his duty to protect the guardian spirit of the city, whatever city he was in. He eyed the two Mikura dubiously, sliding upward into a standing position, glancing to the Yurine.* "I hope I'm not interrupting, Yurine. I will have questions- but they can wait, given the circumstances."
