Who: Ment & Kaoru
When: Midday; clear day after rain.
Where: The Park It was a fine day to be out and about, and the child that danced through the trees was all too happy to take advantage of the clear weather. Kaoru adored the rain and the green that it brought, the life to living things and the clean air that followed its departure. It was easily one of the Scent's favorite types of weather, but rarely spoken of; it was the child's joy, and it was palpable even after the heavy clouds had passed. Donning a knee-length gown of creme covered by a red sweater (as it was colder in the morning), Kaoru was all but frolicing through the green landscape of the park, giggling and splashing through puddles like any right child should. Sometimes, if the Scent jumped just right, the spray would be high enough that a rainbow would form; this would send the child into a bout of very girlish giggles before skipping onwards to find another pool of water to replicate the trick.

Ment had been running back and forth on any errand Olivia had given him for the last couple weeks, not because he was being an obidient child, no, far from it, simply because he wanted to get as far away from Adrian as he possibly could.
The loving cloud of doom and gloom had grown to match him in height and had no clothes to wear, forcing Ment to hand over some of his clothes to the soured teen in order for him to not be butt-naked. All Ment ever heard at home was Adrian's snide remarks about his wardrobe and the like. It finally took its toll on his nerves.
Ment flew back threw the park on his candy-cane weaving in and out of trees, a small basket hanging off the end of the candy-cane loaded with various breads and cheeses. The after-rain breeze swept through his hair and hat sending a wonderful chill down his spine. It was nice out, he liked it.
Slowing down a bit to take in the park's scenary he noticed a child playing in the puddles and glided over to get a closer look, a waft of pomgranate smacking hmi in the face.
"You!"

The child was not quite expecting to run into a familiar face, and was mildly surprised at the word used in address. "Me?" Kaoru squeaked, spinning in mid-prance to face the heckler. Bright eyes became almost entirely too wide for that delicate face, lips parting as the child's jaw slackened. The Scent would know that boy anywhere, no matter how much he grew or changed or...flew on candy canes...
"YOU!" Kaoru cried back with glee, racing over the damp grass to lock dainty arms around his dangling leg. It was hard to believe the boy used to only be that tall! "Me~nt!" the pomegranate child crowed, delight evident through the smiling expression worn. "Lookit you! You got so big! And you FLY? And--" the child's cold nosed pressed against the teen's leg, "--you smell so good! Like Christmas and hot cocoa and good things!"
Rambling much? Kaoru giggled up at Ment, all wide-eyed childish charm and admiration. Ment was like...like a super hero...NO! Even better! He was the child's very own personal guardian angel, yes!

Ment beamed at Kaoru pleased with the fact the little Scent had recognized him right away. He was afraid no one would recognize him right away, after all, when Adrian changed he got hit on by his mom...
Ment bent over to pick Kaoru up and set hir on the flying candy-cane, "Uh huh. I grew over Christmas!" Ment chirped, giving the smaller Scent a big hug, white hair and red ribbon tickling the smaller Scents face.
"How've you been? How's your mom? I haven't seen you in forever~ You still smell like the sweet pomegranate I know." He smiled.

Kaoru squealed delightedly, snuggling into the hug under Ment's chin, lost in giggles as his hair drew along that button nose. After peering over the candy cane to confirm that they were, in fact, in air, the Scent's head tilted back to regard the older one with a bright beam. "That seems proper," came the amused compliment at his statement of growing over Christmas, patting his arm fondly.
The next questions brought only the faintest fade on the delighted smile, but quickly turned the full shine of it back onto him. "I'm great! Better now that I get to see you again!" A brief pause, followed by, "Mom is still stick, but she's up more and working and doing artsy things." Kaoru leaned back to giggle a little more, sticking out a small tongue. "I better be the only pomegranate you know! I don't like being jealous."
Probably a strange comment to make for a child who had rarely displayed such a human emotion, but it seemed worth mentioning. As quickly as the other questions were answered, the child continued on in speech, continually looking between the ground below and the teen above. "How'd you get a flying candy cane, of all things? Oooh! Is that like Vanyel's pretty flutterbyes? And why is there bread on your cane?" Kaoru blinked at the basket, taking a momentary respite from the barrage of innane questions.

Ment smiled, patting the curled head of the little pomegranate child in a comforting fashion. "You're the only pomegranate I know," he said reassuringly before thinking a minute on the child's next question.
"I'm not exactly sure how I got my candycane, come to think of it." He murmured, scratching the side of his head with an awkward smile, "I kinda woke up and there it was hovering above my face. Sometimes I feel like it has a mind of it's own." He giggled, wondering to himself what "flutterbyes" were and if Vanyel was a lot nicer now than she was than. not to say she wasn't nice, but she didn't seem genuinly interested in the kinds of games Ment liked.
"The bread?" He said, looking back on his flying cane of yumminess, "'Livia asked me to pick some up. She was in a cheese sammich kinda mood~"

The child was quite pleased to be paid attention to by Ment, and it showed with the bright beaming smile that Kaoru lavished upon him. The smile quickly shifted into a grin, dainty hands lifting to stem most of the laughter that followed. "Floating in front of your face?" Kaoru squeezed out between giggling, "That's silly!" The Scent would likely have been terrified to wake up and find a floating sweet within touching distance, but it was funny to think of poor Ment in that situation. No doubt the peppermint boy was delighted.
At the mention of 'sammichs,' Kaoru's little tummy gave a growl of agreement. "Oh dear," the child grinned sheepishly, grasping the candy cane once again, "that does sound good. I should go get lunch soon." Crimson eyes turned skybound momentarily to gauge the time, before shifting in the direction of The Gilded Lily, then towards Solace Scents.
Cupid bow lips pursed in a petulant pout. Kaoru didn't want to leave Ment! Lunch would just have to wait!
