This is just a little part. I'm working on becoming an author and this is a book I want to write, tell me what you think of this part!


Lucas sighed and rubbed his head. Water dripped through a crack in the stone roof of a very small stone building. He heard giggling outside, it seemed to belong to a small child. "Hello?" He called, hoping for a reply. Of course, there was no reply. There never is. He sighed again and poked his head through the metal grate door. A small girl was laying flowers in front of the steps. "Sweetie!" A woman called. "Put the flowers inside, on the table! We don't want anyone taking them and we don't want them to get wet in this rain! They'll freeze!" The girl nodded at her mother's request and ran inside. After placing the flowers on the round, stone table in the middle of the room, she walked to a plaque on the wall. "I love you daddy." She whispered. Lucas smiled, a tear coming to his eye. "I love you too." He whispered back. The little girl took no notice and ran off happily humming to her self.

After they left, Lucas sat down on the steps to the building. "Dude, You all right?" Markus stood in front a stone tablet, a soft caring look on his face. Lucas shook his head. "No. No matter what I do. They can never hear me or see me." Markus nodded. He understood what Lucas felt. "Well what do you expect, we're dead!" Lucas picked up a rock and hurled it at Mark, who didn't even flinch. "It's no use man. No matter how many times you chuck stuff at me, it never hits!" He teased. Lucas glanced beside him at the rock he'd just thrown. It looked as if it never even moved. Really, it never did move.

"I wish they could just see me. Or at lest hear me. Or maybe even know that I'm there, always watching over them. I just want them to know there safe. But I can't even do that! What kind of scientist am I?" He wailed in desperation. Markus tapped his foot, then replied with a smile. "Oh! I know! A dead one!" Lucas had it. He got up and tackled Markus, choking him and beating him with every bit of strength he had. No matter how hard he beat him though, he could never die. Neither of them could. "Let... Go... Of... Me!!" Mark managed to gag out. Lucas reluctantly let go and sat beside him, his back to a tombstone. "I'm sorry." He huffed. "I'm just tired of hearing that word. I'm just tired of having to be one who applies to it. I feel like if you look it up it the dictionary, you'll find my picture next to it."

Mark shrugged. "At least I can cope with it. You need some serious help. I wonder if a shrink died recently." He pondered. Lucas punched him without even looking. "All right man! I am so getting tired of that!" He screamed back, rubbing his jaw. "Oh what do you care? You can't even feel it!" Lucas argued. "So much for lucky!" He grumbled under his breath. Markus scowled back at him. "Hey! I am too lucky! I just had an unlucky day all right! It wasn't my fault my team lost on a friday the thirteenth. And, I was wearing my number thirteen jearsy.... and I had thirteen beers... It's not my fault!" He plunked back down beside him. " yeah, and it's not my fault a bomb exploded. If only I had checked to make sure they didn't set the time. I told them not to, 'don't set the time until we reach the fireing range!' I told them. Incompetent interns." Lucas scowled. Both of them heaved a great sigh in unision. "Sorry." Mark said. "Sorry." Lucas replied.
