The Crosshaven Post: Office

On the western side of Crosshaven, hidden in an abandoned office building, an ancient printing press prints out a few thousand sheets of newspaper with the latest headlines. About twenty writers, editors, and printers run around frantically trying to get the latest paper printed. They work on type writers, not wanting to rely on computers due to the frequent power outages in Crosshaven.

The place is dingy and not kept up very well, papers litter the floor and the majority of the workers look tired and pale. However, they appear determined, not wanting to give up on their overall goal.

Charlie reaches her desk, nearly passing out on it the moment she hits the seat cushion. She had been out late, and had witnessed more than one person should in a day. The event had turned out to be exhausting, and damn near deadly for a few of the Crosshaven citizens, but then again, it was to be expected in Crosshaven, nothing ever went over smoothly in this town.

She spins her seat around, facing the typewriter, and lets out another drawn out sigh, "Alright, where do I start?" Her fingers rest upon the keys, before they lightly begin to tap down upon them, creating a rhythmic pattern as she types away into the rest of the night. She would be there well into the afternoon, and these days, that was the kind of security that she craved.

She finishes the last article and leans back, her back cracking a few times. When she turns the papers into the office for printing, she says her good-byes to the dozen or so writers who remain and heads out.

Glancing down at her watch she realizes she had yet to hear from Thomas, which wasn't unusual, but it usually meant he was onto something by now or else he would have given up and come to check on her.

She began to walk towards the main streets, it was a long walk, but she needed the fresh air and exercise after sitting in a dark cubicle for hours on end.

She had been informed of a private orphanage that had been in the works for a while, and she wanted to get the full story. It was the kind of piece that the Post needed, something that would provide some kind of hope for the readers. She had to admit, she was looking foreword to something positive for once.
