My copy of IWTV, Random House from I think 2000, has either a change in story or editing mistake that I'm curious about.
On page 322-323, it says "Two vampires who had been made with Lestat by the same master had assisted him in booking passage to New Orleans."
I was curious as to whether or not anyone else noticed this, and how they explained it.
I have read TVL. It does not mention any of Magnus' children, and I had assumed that there were none. Was I mistaken?
A friend has suggested that it may have been supposed to say "by Lestat", or something similar that was changed in editing. However, at this point, weren't Louis and Gabrielle his only remaining children? And we all know how reliable Gabrielle is...
Just thought I would share. Please excuse the nerdiness.

My copy (75th printing or something like that...) says the exact same thing on those pages. Funny how I never noticed it before. In TVL it clearly states that Magnus only gave "The Dark Gift" ONCE and that was to Lestat. This is discussed when Lestat is in under Les Innocence speaking with Armand and the crazy older female vampire. I know this for certain since I just finished rereading that book.
Since this is the case...yes, I think it is a typo (as I hope it isn't a continuity issue). Strange.

I think it wasnt a typo, but a story change. I dont think Anne Rice realized all she was going to do with Lestat's character in IWTV. If you remember, Lestat wanted Louis because Louis had finacial security, and Lestat need a place to house his father. Well, we all know he never had that kind of relationship with his father, and is unlikely to become that attached t another human, so I believe the story changed.
