Geez,

You know what's sad; finally getting over my knitting faze and getting into crocheting; but knowing nor understanding how to make amigurumis. I mean, I found a small tutorial on youtube; then went through the wonderful resources our guild has. I just don't get it!

Can someone, anyone clarafy how you guys make your amigurumi? I can't seem to even make a round correctly ; ;. It's depressing lol.

Magic rings are a great way to start amigurumi. (I'm just a beginner, but I think I have okay advice. =] )
This might help a bit.

I agree, I always start with a magic loop (or ring or whatever you want to call it) and then it's pretty much single crochet around and around. Most of the time you will start by putting 6 sc in the magic loop. Then you will put 2 sc in each sc around - without joining rounds, just keep going in a spiral. Then you increase from there according to your pattern.

Are you trying to follow a particular pattern? Where exactly are you getting confused, maybe we can walk you through it.

Well, My bfs grandmother taught me how to make a circle, but in double crochet. See at first I followed this tutorial on youtube, but eh, i got lost after god knows how many tries.

It's just the overall start, I think it just takes practice right?

I was trying those patterns from mr. Funkys super crochet...

My first magic circle loked like a train wreck!! I couldn't even tell what stitches were where, ha.
I suppose it is just a practicing type of thing. You could chain two, then single crochet 6 times into the second chain from the needle. That could work to.

no matter how long i practice i cant master a magic circle. so i just ch2 and 6sc like gossamer bramble suggested. it works for me ^.^

Use this Tutorial!

It starts off showing some basics but at the bottom it has links to other tutorials like crocheting in rounds and it even has one that shows you how to make this lil amigurumi bird.
This tutorial started me in crocheting 3nodding

I've always have started with a chain of three and then sc'ed in the second ch from hk. then, not sl st'ing to the first st, but sc'ing in it.
