I was browsing on Style.com looking at the ready to wear spring swim wear and I noticed that a large portion of the models were wearing high waisted shorts, bottoms, what have you.
Some wearing the high waisted late 80s, 90s, high waisted jean shorts.
Could these atrocities be making their way back onto the scene?

Fashion is cyclical after all. But if the high waisted garments give an effect of elongating the legs then sign me up! Just as long as it doesnt look like you stole them from your grandpa's closet.

I've been seeing them around too, if they do come back they'll probably have a love/hate sort of relationship (maybe like the crocs?)
They look comfier than my usual low-rise jeans ;>.<

I kind of have a love/hate with them already. Sometimes I say, I dunno, I think they're doable, but then I go, wait a minute, ICK!! Those are the old jeans I've been turning down trying on by my mom for years!!

I think that some people can pull them off and look great in them. I however don't particularly like them and will continue to stay away from them. They tend to look like the "mom jean" on me.

I fully support the high waisted movement
i have a vintagey looking high waisted denim skirt and i love it.
They go well with lots of tops and mainly flat shoes.

Can I ask how old are you?
I'm wondering it's that the new generation coming in was never pressed to put the high waisted jeans by their mothers, and therefore are more open to it..

I personally don't remember high waisted pants, but I am almost 20 so I don't know if it is because I was too young/not born or maybe my mother just had better sense than to put me in them. I have also always been short, so they tend to not really help the situation, the ones I have tried anyway.

Hrm, well I'm 18, so that debunks my hypothesis, my mom's the kind that sees clothes as just stuff to cover yourself so she didn't see why you wouldn't wear her high waisted denim shorts now, but now I guess she'll get the last laugh with this new trend.

It's very possible that I was around for the trend the first time around, but perhaps was old enough to say that I didn't want them. I can't honestly remember wearing anything like that, but it's possible my mom may have worn them and maybe as young as I was they didn't have decent high waisted pants at Kohl's or Target.

hrmm I don't know. I kind of agree with Ritzy. You pretty much need to have a nice stomachj. Because I've seen the dark side of people wearing them, and the top pf the jeans is right below their ribcage, and the rest just pudges out xp not very attractive. Especially if you tuck in your shirt on top of that... eek there are some weird people in Texas. I tell you what. ^^

high waisted stuff has been in style since summer 07'. it elongates the legs, tapers your waist, and is v. chic in my opinion smile

well since this is not the 80s they are definitely going to be taoilored properly and attractively. i love the high-waisted trousers/shorts trend - the only problem is finding a top that will suit the look XD heart domokun
