Bridgette Cooke knew her way around the castle, she'd have to. I mean she Had been there for three years now had she not? So why now, was she lost on the staircases? Easy. They moved. Silently cursing them and their ever changing minds, she got off on the third floor, in the west wing ,which was not exactly where she'd wanted to be.She wanted the seventh floor, and it seemed she wasn't going to get there anytime soon. She was now stranded again, She'd been walking around hopelessly for two hours now...trying to get to her darned common room.

Just then she thought she heard a lion or something of that type roaring, probably a portrait. No. It was her stomach. "Oh yea...NOW your hungry...jeez louise!" She laughed quietly patting her tummy bu then looked around quickly when she heard a scuffling. She turned to see a painting of a darling young lady with soft golden curls and a baby poodle lifting her head and adjusting her skirts. She smiled kindly and bowed her head sleepily. Birdie smiled and blushed a little. "I'm sorry ma'am did I wake you?" The young lady nodded and spoke in a dreamy singsong voice. "don't worry dear, I was just resting anyways...but sory for asking but did you happen to growl?"

Bee almost laughed out loud. but so as not to awake the other snoozing portraits she spoke softly with a smiled "No actually it was my tummy miss, I didn't eat much at the feast...there was mostly meats...I only eat vegetables. But I think I may have some of my cookies in my bag..." She reached into her bookbag and pulled out a tin of her vegan cookies and pulled one out happily."Ahhh much better...so would you happen to know which staircase I could take to the seventh floor? I seem to have lost myself...." she smiled and watched as the young lady stretched."mmmmm. sorry dear..I haven't really left me portrait in a while...I wish I could help...My names Lady Tabitha by the way..."

Birdie bowed her head respectfully and finished chewing her last bits of cookie before answering. "My names Bridgette but you can call me Birdie...or Bee...or Bridgette I don't mind much really." The young woman smiled and nodded what a beautiful name Bridgette....now...If I do recall....the fat lady is your portrait keeper? Er well the one whom you tell your password to?" her green eyes twinkled with humor as she asked. Bridgette nodded"I see....well she's a tad..well she drunk by now I should tell you....so when you leave I should go with you and help get her to sleeping. She's been celebrating the start of term." Bridgette and the young Lady Tabitha both laughed quietly. And Birdie thought, that perhaps she'd stay on this landing for a while...I mean at least IT wasn't going anywhere.

”Don‘t let the times get you down.
It‘s not worth it.”

"Finally, I made it out," a laughing and exhasperated voice spoke. There was a huge crowd trying to leak out of the Great Hall, and it was rather hard to make his way through. Unforunately, he'd lost track of Mary somewhere in there, and her friend Mac. It was really a shame, but he couldn't dwell on it. Which remindeded him: why did they sit so far apart anyway? He would've thought friends as close as them would sit together, not at opposite ends of the Hall.

Chuckling, he began to walk away from his escaped area before he could get swamped all over again. Speaking of best friends, where's Bee? he wondered. Since they weren't in the same House, he didn't get to see her at the Sorting Ceremony. Usually sometime during the meal he'd go over and chat with her, but it wasn't really an option today. Especially since she was two tables away. Perhaps he should go find her before she got to her common room?

Deciding to go with that idea, he looked at the stairs that lead the opposite direction of his common room: up. Now, he never claimed to be a master of the moving stairs, but it couldn't be that hard, could it? He'd made his way to the Gryffindor Common room entrance a few times, so it wasn't impossible. Still, the idea of the stairs moving made him nervous, as it always did. Funny, wasn't it, someone with such confidence nervous about moving staircases?

Mac laughed at himself as he made his way up the nearest flight of stairs. It wasn't long until he caught up to Bridgette, but happened to have landed on a moving staircase with her as he did so. This can't be good he thought to himself. He was about to call her name when her stomach let out a mighty roar, and he barely contained the laugh. She was talking to one of the portrait women again, seemingly making friends. She was laughing and talking with her about the drunken Fat Lady.

When it seemed they were done for the time, he walked up behind her and covered her eyes with his hands. "Guess who gets nervous on moving stairs?" Normally people would just say 'Guess who' but he thought the little addition might be worth a laugh. Or it might not. Usually Bee was good when it came to understanding his jokes, even when they were immature and childish. When she would guess who he was, he would uncover her eyes and shrug. "So where are we anyway?"

Bee had almost squealed when her eyes were covered, but she recognized the scent and voice, and childish jokes anywhere."gee I dunno, who still plays this game with me anymore? Julian..." She laughed and turned around when he let go of her, though she wished he hadn't. His touch always made her feel like jelly. When asked where they were she shrugged "No idea Mac....Third floor I think...." Birdie tapped her chin in thought when Tabitha piped up.

Third floor west wing platform dear. Hello there Julian was it? pleasure. She bowed and ruffled her poodles ears slightly. Bee laughed and smiled "Oh yea, thank you lady Tabitha...oh Mac this is Lady Tabitha....Heh anyways how come your no in you common room mister?" she wagged her finger at him but smiled happily. She didn't want him there but she did enjoy teasing him a bit."Oh! am I meeting you for our midnight snack later tonight with the elves ey?"It was a tradition that they've held for the past year and she always enjoyed the visits. she had taught the elves to make the vegan cookies and she liked to help out cleaning up. She smiled her big charming smiled and her blue eyes twinkled the way they always did with mac. She didn't know why but he really brought the best out of her and she loved it. She always felt so free.

"So anyways would you like to walk me to my common room? or do you want to hang out a while longer? we could sneak out onto the ground..."

”Don‘t let the times get you down.

Just the response he liked to get from her. For some reason he hardly pulled the Guess Who game on anyone else. Then again, most girls would roll their eyes or take forever guessing and most boys would be like, 'bloody hell' anyway. "You don't know? Shouldn't you be counting the floors?" he teased her. Technically, he should have been too, but he didn't say it. It was her common room, not his. And if she didn't know where they were, that wasn't a good sign.

Hearing the portrait pipe up, his hand tried to go through his hair--and failed. He'd already forgotten that he had shaved it off again. So all he got was a feeling of fuzz against his hand. No wonder girls always messed with a guy's head when it was shaved--it felt kinda cool. Mac grinned at the portrait and waved his hand in a horizontal circle and bowed. "Yes it is, Lady Tabitha." He stood up once more, still grining, but feeling even more nervous than before. "Because I decided I wanted a little visit with my best friend," he stated simply, putting his hands up, palms facing towards her. He laughed when she wagged her finger at him, a sort of scold that he easily brushed off.

At her sudden revelation of their now long-standing tradition, he found himself laughing once more, a hand on her shoulder. "Yes, of course. We can break the rules, but we can't exactly break tradition, now can we?" She seemed so happy baking and cleaning wtih the House Elves, and he had just as much fun watching. Although he occasionally had a small flour fight with her while doing so. And sneaking down to the kitchens was breaking rules, which he loved doing anyway.

He though about her small list of suggestions for his and her actions for the evening. His eyes moved up to look towards the ceiling, a look of consideration. "Well, I was going to try beating you to your common room, but I don't think either of us know the back route to your common room from this forbidden floor...." he was speaking with good reasoning, and truth, but really his mind was with his next state of words. "Bee, you know how much I fancy a good sneak around." He moved his hand off of her shoulder and took some steps back onto the stairs, then turned and bowed to the portrait once more. "Thank you for your informative ways, Lady Tabitha."

Bee smiled ruefully and giggled when he spoke of her being his best friend. He was so sweet. with his words of parting Tabitha bowed her head and smiled speaking in her faraway singsong voice. "good bye dears...have a nice walk around...if you'll excuse me I really must tend to the fat lady..." and with that she slipped out of her portrait and made her way through the many hanging about and off to the seventh floor.

With that Bee turned around and smiled at Mac "Alrighty then...on our ways yes? She linked her arm with him and strode down the steps being careful not to step onto a moving platform and they made their way back down many staircases, every so often coming to a floor they didn't recognize but then going on their way down towards the entrance hall, and then to the grounds.

[[sorry it's so short..I supposed since we were leaving I didn't need to give you much to go with would you like the first post in the grounds?]]

User ImageBrianna Porter :: Tough Little Cammie
”You wanna fight me?”

"Okay, fine," she said while rolling her eyes. They obviously didn't want anything to do with her, after all, they'd ignored her and one even left! Real nice of you she thought with a scrunch of her nose. She picked up a much smaller version of a messenger bag and strapped it across her shoulder. See if I help you when you want to find out where to go. Sheesh, I know we're all new, but still. she thought as she walked out of her dormitory. Hadn't these people ever heard of common courtesy? She thought that the least they could to was tell her that no, they didn't know or something. Even to tell her that they were busy and didn't have the time to show her, even though chances were since they were heading downstairs too, in all likelihood and it would be a lie. But at least it would have been better than flat out ignoring her.

Her feet had descended the stairs and she was in the Gryffindor common room now, brooding about this in her head and getting angrier. She need a good fight to break her mood, or Ry. Ry always knew how to cheer her up and make her feel better . And if he didn't, well, he at least would keep her from picking the fights that would get her into trouble. That's what big brothers were for. But his common room was far below the staircases, and knowing his stories she knew he would want to get in and out of the Great Hall quickly. She couldn't blame him for that, considering the way Robert and Brady treated him. Stupid bloody Slytherins. I'd like to punch their faces in.

Cammie swiftly exited the common room and headed through the hall to find herself at the grand staircase. She looked down, gulping a bit as some of the stairs moved around. Even without them moving they were complicated enough. But this? She shook her head swiftly, snapping herself out of the daze the stairs put her in, and not quite charged, but walked in such a way that it was almost like charging, down the stairs. However, she kept ending up in all these halls and areas she didn't know, and even hit dead ends a few times. She couldn't figure out these stupid stairs for the life of her! Eventually, she got fed up and sat on a staircase near the fourth floor, sitting on a stair with her elbows on her knees and her hands on her cheeks. She'd never make it down.
