Charon smiled to himself, fluffing up the last satin bow and eyeing the ribbons with an air of pride about him.
"It's about time~" he trilled jubilantly, ringing a small bell with a stray hand.
"It's about time for us to opeeeen~" he sang rather off key, taking a short glance at himself in the briliantly gold framed mirror on the wall.
The hall he occupied was lavished in vibrant colours, sunsetey, valentiney, beautiful colours that seemed to mirror his feelings inside. A growing sensation of happiness enveloped him as he swiped up a pair of scissors from the nearest table.
"This is it!" he declared proudly, throwing the wooden door open and snipping the red ribbon, watching the frayed ends fly wildly in the breeze.
For anyone who listened, he announced (with a rather smug smirk),
"Welcome... to the Host Club!"

A neatly dressed mouse in green perked her ears as she walked by and heard a bell. Curious, she looked for the source of the noise and found another mouse, proclaiming some sort of 'host club'. She was proud to know exactly what this meant, and came in to say "An internet browser club is all very well and good, but what an extravagant name!" Milly looked pleased with herself, she used to be teased for not knowing what a host or a mouse or a browser was. She glanced around. What odd decorations for a technology club, though! Not at all high tech looking.

Charon whistled at the extravagantly dressed female entering his very own host club. But on the strange comment, he tipped his head to the side, wondering what in the world to make of such a phrase. Deciding to ignore it, he started a graceful stride towards the beautiful mouse in a frilly green dress.
'This is so great, she won't even know what hit her,' he thought to himself, suppressing an inner smirk with a gentle smile.
"Welcome, princess,' he bowed, his whiskers nearly touching the floor.
'I will get her to love me!' he decided in his head, hoping that the strange comment earlier wasn't because of... mental illness?!?

He sighed under his breath.

Milly nodded, as if she was used to this sort of thing, or at least wished she was. "That's very gracious of you." she said. Maybe she would stick around. This was promising to be interesting. Choosing a chair to sit down in, she glanced around at the elegant settings, added in the bowing, and came out with a conclusion. "Oh dear... This isn't a host club, this is a Host Club..." she said quietly. Their Japanese contact in LEAGUE had told her about them and in Englad they had slightly similar institutions for men, which women blushed to talk about. Something about this Host Club messed up the picture she had mentally taken of such things. "How bold of you to run a Host Club with only one host." she said admiringly.

A little mouse suddenly stumbled into the hall, and tripped, causing books to tumble down on herself. She smiled shyly, and hurried to pick up her books. She had lost sight of where she was going, and had stumbled into Charon's hall unknowingly.

"Gracious?!?" he announced, flabberghasted. He was expecting something more like fangirlish. Or at least surprised. He winced to himself. This was not going to be easy. Letting out a slow cough, he straightened his outfit, dusting off his pants.

"Ahem, excuse me... I'm having a nasty cold lately. I hope you haven't caught the virus, Princess?"

At her exclamation and question, Charon threw his hands up onto the air (but daintily, prince-like).

"Why, of course it is! What did you think it was? A gardening club?!?" he burst out, mimcing a gardener with sheers, snipping off stray leaves on an imaginary bush.

"I was always the daring type," he boasted, puffing up his chest, "-but we'll get new hosts soon, seriously, yo."

At a loud bang, Charon's head snapped to the side of the hall only to be met with a lovely young mouse having trouble with her books.

"Excuse me," he whispered to Milly, stepping lightly over to the new female.

"Would you require any assistance?" he lilted, casually reaching out and making contact with the back of the lady's hand.

Milly looked surprised. "Well, yes. Calling one a princess when one is not, in fact, such a thing is gracious, unless the general public opinion of princesses has greatly changed since I last checked it." She looked surprised at his outburst, but collected herself with a sort of facial twitch, her features composing into their former calmly capable expression. "If I do, I'll be sure to turn it into the proper authorities." she said, m,aking a bad pun with careless abandon. "Actually I thought it was a computer club. Internet host, browsers, and such. I was just surprised to see one here of all places, what I've seen of this place so far is..." She snapped her gloved fingers, tring to think of a properly ladylike comparison. "Dull as a dried mouldy biscuit. And not even pleasingly fluffy mouldiness either. Of course," she said primly, "That's why I came here though. To live a simple life of retirement." She recomposed herself in the chair and nodded as he left.

((Wheee, finally have a banner ^_^))
Charon did a double take, turning around to face the graceful lady on the chair.
"B-but you are a princess, at least... to me, you are..." he sniffed, not quite sure how to respond to such a rough comment. Since when were elegant ladies so stiff... so offensive? She had attacked his weak points the moment she found them...
"T-that's a good idea. I'm sure they'd love another virus," he mumbled hesitantly, not making much sense of anything she had said thus far. She was smart. Too smart for him. He was just (supposed to be) smooth.
"Moldy... moldy..." he seethed under his breath, still holding his statuesque pose in front of the other mouse in the hall.

Noticing him stiffening, she softened and said "I mean this village, of course. It's a very quiet, slow place. I was surprised to see an institution like a host club here of all spots." She grinned. "That's charming that you find me a princess. The last man I met found me a frog, so I suppose it evens out then." She seemed to be disappointing the poor gentleman. "If you want, perhaps I can act attempt to act more princesslike though."

"O-oho. The village, of course." he deadpanned, hiding his relief with another flurry of coughs.
"Well, Host Clubs work anywhere as long as there are princesses willing come." he announced, spreading his arms wide at the hall.
"If you were a frog, you'd be none lesser than the most beautiful frog in the land." he announced boisterously, flashing her a thumbs-up from across the hall.

Milly nodded. "I see." she said, and chose not to comment on the emptiness of the place. "Well, it certainly is a very elegant place." She was surprised at his next comment though. "I hadn't any idea there was such a title." she laughed.

Frowning, Charon stopped. Was there such a title?!?
'Actually, me neither,' wasn't the best of all responses, especially not for a king of his calibur. A Host King, of course, not a real one. Second best, but that was good, too.
"Actually, me neither," was the actual response, and immediately after he covered his mouth in amazement and fell down next to the other mouse.
"That was extremely unelegant!" he announced, aghast.
Deciding that he needed more training, he grinned sheepishly at the graceful mouse in the chair.
"I'm sorry, I didn't catch your name."

Milly grinned. She had caught him off his guard. "It could have been worse." she assured him. "I believe you failed to catch my name because I did not offer it. My name is Linnea, but please call me Milly. I would offer you a handshake if I could reach that far."

At her smile, he felt his face heat up, feeling ashamed to be discovered on the ground in such a wild position, by a princess, no less.
"M-Milly..." he tried, screwing his face into a ball, attempting to taste the word on his tongue.
"Milly. It's a sweet name, I like it," he decided, sitting up in crossed leg position. He blushed for the second time.
"E-er, that is... the name... it's nice, is all. It's nice." he stuttered, covering his reddening complexion with a stray hand.
"A-ah! Allow me," he announced proudly, giving the lady with the books and uncertain glance and striding towards Milly.
He held out his hand, adamant on not making any more mistakes.

Milly accepted his hand and shook it with her surprisingly firm handshake. "A pleasure to meet you, Mister...?" She felt rather bad for him. It had to be his first day on the job and she supposed she was a Difficult Customer. She didn't know how ladies were supposed to act in such a place though. There was no precedent in Milly's mind for it and the closest she might have come to such behaviour withing her sphere of knowledge was young ladies squealing at a concert, something she certainly wouldn't connect to here.
