Nightwish is another power metal band from Finland. They are also considered a symphonic metal band (a genre I forgot to mention earlier... -_-,).
They also formed in 1996, but unlike Sonata Arctica, they kept their original name. Their first album came out in 1997, but they were a pretty obscure (unknown) band until they released two more albums in 2000.
The members are: Anette Olzon, Tuomas Holopainen, Marko Hietala, Erno Vuorinen and Jukka Nevalainen.
Several good songs of theirs are: Nemo, Wishmaster, I Wish I Had An Angel, Dark Chest Of Wonders and several others you'll have to find yourself if you like them ^_^

ahhhhhh nightwish, ahhhhhhh poorest dear stuck up tarja!!! i noticed your list of bests are all from the same album (being ONCE) i have to agree though, most legendary album indeed, made me forget completely about eversmellence and amy wasserface!!

Yes, I was blinded by it's magnificence and I haven't gotten Dark Passion Play yet, but I did hear Amaranth which was spectacular!

i have heard the same fairly well backed rumours that it (DPP) is quite awesome too, AND importantly the new singer is quite hot biggrin , so when my poor-ness is relieved i will have to purchase it also!!
And yeah, i'm obviously old, i still prefer CD to mp3, whatcha gonna do?
should Iron maiden be on the list perhaps?

On another note- I LIKE SOME OF THESE BANDS he he - when I looked them up- so kudos to you, Krad. I was thinking WHAT? a metal subforum? but hey, okay- I'm a big enough man (woman) thing to admit when I'm wrong.!

Iron Maiden will be covered in good time, however Iron Maiden is not actually a power metal band. They are considered a major power metal influence. That being said, I do like them a lot and they will certainly be mentioned when I get to that. I also prefer cds to mp3's because I like the tangibility of it all xD

yeah, that's it, the tactile-ness of CD... i thinks it's coz i was brought up with tapes, and little fold-outs, so CDs were like 'woah' big artwork, and booklets, and the shiny....shiny........oooooooh........shinyness.......

I suppose that is true... but at the same time, wish we could spread it to more people, maybe one day replacing the dominant type of music on the planet, and ultimately ruling over all with an iron fist... xD Metal FIST!
