Ok so, I wrote this topic to open dissusion on something most Pagans wthier don't truly grasp, don't agree with, have mixed feeling with, or agree with but just don't follow it.
TOPIC: "Pratical Craft"
This is just my name for a way of praticing Pagan beliefs. Many people tend to come to Pagan traditions in serch for beliefs more atuned to there own. there surching for belonging, a religion that is similar to there own beliefs.
Now many find it and personaly canvert themselves to the exact set of morals and pratices of that path(such as gardian wicca praticing skyclad. lthough many members would choose not to pratice nude, they do so anyway base on the entire religoud beliefs. this is in no way me trying to insult wiccans or gerald gardner^^.)
but many people choose to ethier blend the pratices and beliefs with there already existing beliefs, or just ignore the pratice and name themselves to the religionwithout realy changing.
So what do you think? do you thing that people should almost totally change to there new path to help make a "total" way of living?
Sould they BLend there existing way of livingwith the Path they follow to make a sort of Personalized "hybrid" lifestyle
Or sould people just ignore converstion completly, and do what they want while holding the name up?
I already have my opinion(which will be posted afer the first 3-7 other post) I WANT TO HEAR YOUR OPINION!

i picked the 3rd option. cause if u choose to follow an actual path, u will follow it. if u just pulling bits & pieces from it, ur not following that path, ur following ur own path that shares bits w/ that path.

This is why I personally use pagan as a very general and umbrella term for anything other than Chritianity, Muslim, and so on. And why I am decidedly not Wiccan (not anything wrong with that mind you) I just don't follow that particular path by any means. There are some beliefs of mine that many Wiccans do as well, and are considered Wiccan beliefs but I do not call myself one.
I usually reffer to myself as an Irish Celtic Pagan because I worship those deitys and follow most of those traditions. So I walk completly in my path but it's hard to put a lable on that, as no pre established religion really covers that completly if that makes since.
But my faith is my life and so I would say I do practice fully what I believe.

Personally I don't feel like the name has any meaning at all, and that people should follow their own paths, whatever they maybe so long as they are not intentionally harming ‘without good reason’ (I think Sekhmet had me add that part xd ). I believe that people should believe what feels right to them and not let anyone tell them differently. I use the term “pagan” for myself simply because there is no specific type I follow, I am very much a free spirited person and do what feels right every moment. There was a time I tried to follow the Christian ways according to the church, and even tried following the Wiccan ways according to other Wiccans and the reed. But it doesn’t work that way for me. I don’t take from any other beliefs and religions to make my own, because my beliefs and practices haven’t changed, though I know for a fact that many of my beliefs co-inside with certain religions within paganism but that doesn’t make me such. (One of my problems could be that all the Goddess’ I work with and follow are from different pantheons. Egyptian Goddess Sekhmet, Norse Goddess Freyja, and Celtic Goddess Brigid. And they seem to have all chosen me, unless I subconsciously unknowingly called on them before I knew who and what they were… >.< Now how confusing is that? sweatdrop ) I act on the moment, and use knowledge, experience, intuition, and instint to guide me through. Anything I’ve read on practice, I’ve mostly found to be nothing more then an interesting read because I’ve already done what it says in some form without consciously knowing how or why. I’m sure that the only thing I take from other people’s beliefs is knowledge of the lore, however, I don’t usually apply it to my own beliefs so it doesn’t really matter.
Anyways, Yes I believe that people should follow what feels right to them and not let anyone tell them otherwise. So long as they are practicing what they say they are in some way, even if it’s not to the letter of those ways there shouldn’t be a problem.
An extra side note:
How do we know that those practicing the craft are doing so correctly anyway? Most knowledge of practice and worship from the past has been long lost. Most paths of the craft have been changed and molded by others and now we follow those paths, but why should we follow them completely, they are the paths of others and not the original path. I believe that we need to seek out the paths of old within ourselves and allow it to evolve and blossom into life through us.

What is in a name, calling a Rose by any other would smell as sweet..sorry if i have fudged the lines..abit to tired, and on Nyquil..or w/e. I think it is important to maintain your own system of faith. If you like where the path is leading keep on it. I love the old ways and enjoy learning new. blaugh

If you want to call yourself something that is of a paticular trad or path then you should try to ader to that trad or path as closely as posible. For a long time I called myself Wicca. After a wile I reallised that I didnt' want to have to follow all the rulse in Wicca so I switched to the title of Witch. I actually like it better because now I don't get chalenged by every Wicca out there. I incorperate many different paths into my practice, though its still strongly influenced by the ideas of Wicca.

I feel very strongly about this, no matter what faith tradition someone is a member of. I chose option A and I am seemingly the only person to do so. I understand that "Paganism" is a broad term, but the definition is slightly changed, since at the Parliament of World's Religions held in Australia, those involved have made it a slightly different definition. Originally it was a term coined by Christians to name those who were inferior as well as non-Christian. Now- from what I've been told, the definition is being written by Pagan's themselves. I tend to see life through black- and white in some cases, and in that regard I see religion in very black and white terms.
Dictionary.com defines "religion" as- a specific fundamental set of beliefs and practices generally agreed upon by a number of persons or sects.
Religion is a set of beliefs- and if you do not believe the same as a particular religion does, then clearly you are not a part of that religion. And I am all about freedom of religion and allowing everyone to believe as they choose- but if you choose a particular path, I believe you should actually believe that way, otherwise you wouldn't be that religion. I think that titles and names are very appropriate. Just as Neko_Bast said- she realized she didn't much fit into Wicca so she changed her "title" to Witch. I think if some is assuming the religious identification as a Christian, I believe they should share the beliefs, or a Wiccan, Buddhist, Hindu, what have you. If you identify yourself with a particular religious tradition then I feel you should believe the same way. Thus- I chose the first option. I have no problem with people choosing what ever fits them best, and if so then you may call yourself an "eclectic" Wiccan or may not even use the word Wiccan at all, but I feel if you choose a particular path because it is your choice, I feel you would/should share the same beliefs.
