What do you use your Fun Fur or Eyelash style yarn for? I have a ton of it cause I just can't help getting it when it's on sale. It's so cool looking but I never know what to make with it. I use it for hair on my amis but that's about it. Anyone use this stuff?

I've never used it, but I've seen it used as a lions mane on an ami. I'm assuming thats what you use it for. I did use this feathery purple stuff on a pretty original turkey for my sister. But I sewed it at the edge of the tail.
I think it's mainly use for fur on amis.

I've seen them turned into some pretty scarves, but mostly you can only use them for trim. Actually now that I think about it, lionbrand.com has pocket animals made out of it.

I've made scarves with eyelash yarns. I have some stashed away, but really I only keep them because I feel like it's such a waste to thrown them away.
Yeah, I'm a yarn snob. xp

I have this knitting machine thing that the only yarn i've found that works so far without dropping/splitting stitches is the eyelash yarn....and i think as a result everyone's getting scarves for christmas. I now have the opposite problem...I have no yarn and I'm not finding any sales atm for it sad
But yes, fantastic for making scarves or using as trim. I was thinking it'd probably make a neat pillow cover too.... smile

I'll have to pst pictures, I"m knitting a poncho with it. I'm just twisting a black lions brand and a red eyelash. After I sew it all together I'm going to add white tassles so it has the Twilight colors, black, white and red.

My friend holds it double stranded with a solid color sparkily yarn and makes scarfs out of it. My other friend uses it by itself to make hats and scarfs.
It frusterates the heck out of me so I don't use it. wink

I made a kerchief with some of it, and I am plotting out a pattern for an eye mask that uses a length of eyelash yarn and a length of worsted weight acrylic held together throughout. It works up beautifully that way, it's just hard to frog when I make a mistake.

Use it with two (or three... or four) other yarns and big needles for awesome, quick scarfs. Two fun furs, a trellis, and something chunky looks amazing.

Also, an idea I stole from a magazine; hold four strands of novelty yarn (like fun fur and three others) together and crochet with a Q hook until the length you want, then just end it. Instant boa.

You can use them on circular needles or looms and make "Magic Scarves" (The tube ones that you can stretch into a cowl or if you're small enough a skirt or dress cover or wrap) ^_^ I have a skein of green eyelash that I got from a thrift store for a dollar (couldn't pass it up!)
