This is nothing new: unhealthy, dead, or just plain sad looking fish in the Walmart aquariums. I was getting more food when I saw this: I wish I could take credit for it. (Had I done it I wouldn't have been so impresed to take a picture razz ) The best part is, whoever did it was so adamant to get their message across that they snagged water from across the store, a marker from mid-store & made this masterpiece. (You can see the betta cups on the lower shelves, all nice & FULL of water.) Kudos to them!

Hey, I was gonna say kudos to whoever did it. Yeah, it is pretty sad how some pet stores treat their betas. The other fish that get to stay in the tanks have it much better off.

LOL that's nice to whom ever did that! XD that's classic... very classic.
but yes little isora (whom my mom has now claimed as hers...lol) came from wal-mart. and he was in those poor conditions... and he has remaining health problems because of it. oh well he's a happy little sucker now. (yes he's a brat..)
Kami-sama (aka Kami) and Aquarius Blood (aka Aquarius) both came from petsmart. aquarius was in a small cup barely moving around when i got him... but he's fine now, and he's my little sweetheart.
kami was in a bigger cup but i have had him almost a year now... lol he's about a year to two years of age now. and he's just a huge fish! (3 inches!) but yeah he's my lazy butt and old man. but he's my favorite. though aquarius is winning me over now that he's FINALLY coming around and showing off ihs perosnality.

Most of the bettas I have right now come from Petco (one that actually TAKES CARE OF THEIR BETTA..), although I got all of my Ottos from the Petsmart. Never got a fish from Walmart though, as the one around my college had, like, three left when I went there. All of the stores I've been to, however, held them in those tiny cups that are depressing to look at.
.......They're useful for mixing conditioners and salt though 8D

i got one of my bettas, versace, (shortened to sacha-po[gibberish]) was found at a petsmart, as was my other betta, pixie. when i saw pixie in her little cup, i cried. she was just a fry! she was the size of my fingernail, and they were trying to sell her gonk so i adopted her, litttle runt that she is, and now she is happily swimming in her three-galon tank, with snail and water heater. 3nodding

I got my Kasai Akuma from a little cup in Petco. After looking at the racks and deciding that he was, infact, the most beautiful one there, I was pretty happy. My mom and I actually took three of the cups that were sitting in the back of the rack that had dead bettas in them (all female stare ) up to the counter. I was disgusted at the condition of his little cup, too. And it was pretty cold. I switched him into his new tank, and for the first few days, he was actually barely able to swim up to the surface to feed. He wasn't used to that much room. Poor boy grew and started eating normally and everything soon after. Anyone else had fish like that, that were simply not used to having room?

random facts!! (from my job)
They come shipped to us in those little cups, sad but we dont have anywhere else to put them in. other sad things, we only feed ours like three or four times a week and clean that little cup like twice a week, we also put in special betta treated stuff. (it makes the water look blue)
Thankfuly thats where the evilness ends, when selling were told to try and get the cost. to buy at least a 1 gal. and were actully taught about water quility, food, and other betta care.
ps that pic is FREAKEN great!!
