So we're watching this in the UW Anime Club and I really kind of like. I actually feel kind of dirty now... sweatdrop . Anyway, I really like Elfen Lied ecause it keeps me on my toes. You never know when it's going to switch from horror, to comedy or to a romantic scene. One minute the lead female character is involved with wacky harem hijinks and the next she's tearing the heads off of army soldiers. It actually reminds me of Tenchi Muyo. Lucy/Nyu reminds me of Ryoko, Yuka reminds me of Ayeka, and Mayu reminds me of Sasami. There's even the cute little dog that, while he doesn't turn into a space ship, reminds me Ryo-Ohki.

Have you ever seen "Death to Smoochy?" Certain...scenes with Mayu reminded me of the song "My Stepdad's Not Mean, He's Just Adjusting."

Ra Fury Have you ever seen "Death to Smoochy?" Certain...scenes with Mayu reminded me of the song "My Stepdad's Not Mean, He's Just Adjusting." No, but now I have to add Death to Smoochy to Netflix.

It wasnt the blood, gore i remember from elfien lied. Its the emotional impact that it had over me. Ever characters story was pretty damned sad. I watched the whole series alone, and by the end I was extremely depressed. I've never had an anime make me so depressed before...I believe that it reflected the ugliness in the hearts of man, how anything thats not normal will in the end be treated badly by the masses. I'd have to say i felt the most for Nana, she wanted so badly to be happy, and to make her "daddy" happy. Seeking a place to belong in the world is full of sacrifices, and in the end, most of the characters lived through this truth. Elfien Lied is one of the best animes ever made, its emotional, deep, violent, and holds a slice of life never before depicked in anime. A true pleasure to behold, im happy i bought it smile .

I'm actually thinking of buying it, too. Too bad it doesn't really seem like they'll make another season. Everything was pretty much wrapped up...well kind of. There's still the people controlling the diclonius, and I can't remember what happened to the mercenary guy.

Elfen Lied! Now theres an anime worth staying up until 3AM to watch! whee But the ending made me cry for like... an hour emo

Yes I have seen Elfen Lied and It is creepy. It switches to scary to funny to romantic like you said but thats what I love about the show. lol
