Lyrciantha (LAR - see - AN - thuh) -- It is legend that Lyrciantha lulls sailors to sleep and drags them down to their deaths in their dreams, leaving their waking bodies on the rocking ship, causing them to leave her realm in fear once they wake up. One of the most graceful of the monsters, Lyrciantha is a controller of sleep and dreams. She is gentle and intelligent, and usually does not use means of physical harm, except when necessary. Loyal, gentle, and understanding of her master, she will be gentle to those who her master is fond of, but she is rather weary of strangers. She will obey any command given to her by her master, unless it puts her master in the way of harm. Her sounds are high, whale-like songs and clicks.
MASTER: Koto River
Lyrctan (LURK - tahn) -- The older brother of Lyrciantha, Lyrctan is slightly bigger than his sister and legend holds that he accompanied her, occasionally stealing away one or two of Lyrciantha's victims to the deep. Not as graceful as his sister but still swift, Lyrctan's power resides in control of lightning and waves. Lyrctan is fond of killing as he hates being intruded upon, however he avoids killing those with a good heart and soul. Though loyal to his master, Lyrctan is picky about any others he offers his docility to; he is more aggressive than his sister but will accept commands from his master not to harm someone. His sounds are rather low, raspy, whale-like clicks and bellows, occasionally resembling snarls and growls.
MASTER: Alex River
Cariot (CARE - EE - oht) -- One of the smallest of the monsters, Cariot is legend to be a sign of good luck to fishers, as when he is sighted the fisherman always get a wealthy catch of fish. Quick and playful, Cariot's power is the ability to control underwater currents in the ocean, which allows him to direct schools of placid fish to where he wants them. Cariot is friendly to all and is very affectionate and loyal to his master and any of his master's companions. His sounds are dolphin-like chirps and squeals.
MASTER: None yet.
Kontal (Kahn - TAHL) -- About the size of Lyrciantha, Kontal is legend to have killed many people viciously, and caused many storms that sunk dozens of ships. Festive and unpredictable, Kontal's power is the control of all winds and currents of air, which allows him to cause chaotic situations at will. Kontal is intelligent and can be deceiving, yet he is close to his friends and can be charming. He does not mind who he kills as long as he personally does not care for them; in fact, he may take down ships for fun, on a whim. Kontal is loyal and friendly with his master but is unpredictable and may lash out at others unless he has received strict orders from his master to not attack a certain individual. His sounds are high, piercing, dragon-like roars that range from quiet to air-shattering.
MASTER: Xain Priest
Vixel (VICKS - ehl) -- One of the smaller monsters, but larger than Cariot, Vixel is nicknamed the 'sea fox' because of the legends of her trickery. Sly and charming, Vixel's ability is the manipulation of weak or willing minds, although she often does not use this power because of her superior intelligence. Though kind to her master and those her master is fond of, Vixel will not hesitate to trick or deceive even her master's closest friends; she occasionally attempts a small trick on her master as well, to keep her master's mind aloof and alert. Her sounds are deep fox-like calls.
MASTER: Alice Kahn
Seralta (Seh - RAHL - tuh) -- A bit smaller than Kontal, Seralta is legend to have both helped and harmed sailors' ability to navigate by altering night and day. Gentle yet moody, Seralta's power is that of the manipulation of light; she can dim or brighten the sun, stars, or moon at will. Her body is composed of bone-like structures that glow red when she activates her power. Loyal and helpful to her master, Seralta is gentle with yet weary of all acquaintances of her master, even close friends until she gets to know them personally; however, she will not harm her master's acquaintances without an order to do so. Her sounds range from eagle-like screams to low groans.
MASTER: Catherine Higgins
Sukeran (SOO - keh - rahn) -- Though the smallest of the monsters, he is also the most fierce, known throughout legends for his viciousness and attacks on swimmers and smaller boats near coast lines, always leaving a bloody trail. His power is the ability to create forcefields, allowing him to trap his victims and render them virtually helpless. Although his trust must be earned, Sukeran will be loyal to his master unless he puts himself in any danger by following an order. He is very violent with others, however, and must be controlled by a strong master, lest he attack against his master's will. His sounds are low, almost lion-like, metallic roars.
MASTER: None yet.
Garliena (Gahr - lee - EH - nuh) -- The largest of the monsters, because of her size, she is legend to be a terrible monster. Her power is the manipulation of sound, which allows her to move freely and quietly despite her size. Very wise, Garliena is quite misunderstood and is actually much more gentle than legend states and only attacks when her life is threatened. She is very loving and loyal to her master and kind to all those she meets. Her sounds are low, earth shaking groans and thunder-like rumbles.
MASTER: None yet.
Nalakita (Nah - lah - KEE - tuh) -- Larger than both Lyrciantha and Lyrctan, according to legend, this graceful monster 'fires death from it's mouth'. Her power, in realty, is nearly the opposite; she is able to create balls of energy, although they are too powerful to energize things and burn right through them with a blazing blue light. Nalakita is the only one of the monsters with wings; she can not use them to fly, but she can glide for substantial distances low above the sea, granted she's built up enough speed in the water. Distrusting of most people besides her master, but ultimately loyal to her master, Nalakita will obey any command she receives, even if it harms her or she disagrees with it's logic. Her sounds are high, mountain lion-like screams.
MASTER: Katanashi Dawnbreaker
Zietel (zee - EH - tehl) -- Slightly bigger than Nalakita (and therefore the second-largest monster), through legend Zietel is known through burning ships and attacking many a sailor. His power is that of fire; he can, by sheer will, set fire to any object he desires, as long as it is burnable. Protective and territorial, if intruded upon Zietel will not hesitate to attack and kill the trespassers or aggressors. He is helpful and loyal to his master, following most orders and staying calm around his master's acquaintances, although if a person is dangerous or an order is illogical, he will disobey. His sounds are the clanking sounds of nails being rubbed and tumbled together.
MASTER: Zacharias Hunt
Gaijar (GAH - EE - jahr) -- Gaijar is not one of the largest monsters, but he is certainly the strangest; legend states that he has driven many a sailor crazy with his alleged "cage of hands." His power is the control of an army of severed human hands, each individually controlled, or all (or only some) controlled as a group. Quick to act, but physically slow, Gaijar is the most land-adaptable monster, as he has distinguishable legs and a muscled body; this has given many people hope that land exists. Surprisingly loving and loyal to his master and his master's companions, Gaijar's frightening appearance is mostly deceiving, although if he, his master, or one of his master's friends is threatened, he becomes full of rage. Gaijar is mute.
MASTER: None yet.
Warako (Wah - RAH - koh) -- A bit bigger than Gaijar, Warako is legend to have frozen the sea water around ships, trapping them. Her power resides in the manipulation of ice; she can freeze and water within an instant. Quick but quiet, Warako is mostly indifferent to humans, not liking to be around them; she often feels threatened if a boat approaches her. Kind, loyal, and affectionate with her master, Warako will take any order. However, although she will not attack her master's companions, she is distant, cold, and indifferent to all others beside her master. Her sounds are wispy, wind-like whistles.
