The first hat that I designed and made without any guides.
It took me awhile to get the lettering right.

And then I made this one for someone in one of my other guilds. He really loved it.

The trick with stripes is to not cut every end when you're going up. Just carry the yarn up to the next striped. You will get bumps in the back...but you can always crochet around the whole scarf, it will give it an interesting look. And you won't have to work in all the ends!
