No, the moon isn't falling, but it has to be really powerful to provide light to a battlefield otherwise shrouded in darkness. The terrain is assorted and contains all kinds of different environments including water, woods, and a shoreline covered in large stones to hide behind. Though the arena may be one of light, the best places to hide and fight are the shadows. Perhaps this arena is more than just a place to determine one's strength. Maybe this is a test to see if you can truly overcome the darkness and travel along the path of light.
