In 1973, before Neil Peart entered the band, back in the John Rutsey days, Rush released a single. On the A-Side of the single was a cover of Buddy Holly's "Not Fade Away". On the other side of the single was the first Rush original ever recorded, entitled "You Can't Fight It". Copies of this single are extremely sought-after by collectors (Something like only 1000 were published). And more Rush is always good.

I have to say, if that had been the first Rush I had ever heard, I would most definitely not have gotten into them. Then again, I can't really talk, since I'm more of an '80s girl myself.

Well Kaledri, I am substantially older than you and I started listening to them in the late 70's, but I never heard either of those songs and I would have to agree with you. Their cover of Not Fade Away was beginning to get a little old at the end of it. I mean, how many times do you have to say Love is real, not fade away? I got more enjoyment out of the pictures in the video than I did the actual song. I guess there will always be one or two songs of any groups that just don't sit well with people. That was certainly one for me.

It actually surprised me when I heard Can't fight it, it's on one of my playlist (playlist.com) under the name Fight, but I had never seen it on one of there albums. I guess now I know.
