Is it just me or has the guild really got quiet lately? I think we need to start purging members who have joined, and are not active...um...maybe make a list of people who are not active...and if they come in and say although they are not on alot they wish to still remain in the guild...I really think we need sub-forums...there is so may posts its hard to find what i want anymore. I also think we should have a time open every day that invites people (even not in the guild) to come out and play chess....maybe learn how to play...test playing king, whatever...just some fun. I think we need to make all but a few subforums private....like pictures and fun stuff....explanation of the guild and its rules could be publice...but our stratagies...and who is in the guild should be private...also when we play a match agains another guild should be only for our guild to see. I mean i think all of us in the guild should make a list in this post of things they want or don't want for this guild... sorry just a few things i thought would be good. heart

I agree. I think we need some Sub-Fourms and send PM's to inactive members saying if they don't get active soon they'll get the boot! scream I also think the guild could use more Mods to do small jobs like sending the PM's to inactive members. wink

Sub-forums can kill guilds. .__.; I say if we get any, there should only be one for game-logs and the such.
And I'm not for involving people outside the guild in our games. Last few times we played with "outsiders" we got angry, frustrated, and didn't have fun. Dx
I'm all for kicking out inactive people though. <333

Yeah, let's stay away from sub-forums. Just a thought.
Ryuu, you're NOT inactive by any means. We're talking about people that joined and never post, never even go to the board, never talk...those kind of people. You're active. *patpat*
EDIT: There's n00bs at our board.

I was thinking about subforums earlier today. smile I decided that certain subforums would be bad for the guild, but a Game Log forum is a great idea. I'll make that one for sure. I was thinking maybe, also, we should have a "side projects" sub, because that doesn't really have to do with chess but it's still something we all would like to do (like the plays and funny get-togethers).
I think the sub-forums should be limited only to things we don't really need clogging up the main forum, ESPECIALLY if we're declining in activeness. People are a lot more likely to post if the threads they're most interested in are in the main forum. Game Logs aren't discussion threads, so having their own spot makes sense. I'm also thinking of making an "old game announcement" sub, because those might be fun to look through later on, but they don't need to be in the main forum because they aren't relevant.
I'm all for sending PMs to inactive members, too, but I don't think we should be kicking anyone out while we're still so new. Maybe we should wait on something like that.
I think it's obvious that we have a certain group of very active members. Anyone from our usual group that wants to be can totally be a mod. I trust you guys and you're very dedicated to the guild. I'll promote Ukki for sure. Everyone else just let me know. smile

I say just because the board is orgainized doesn't mean i'm leaving... (edit to Clammy) I would love to be a mod...

And I know all too well that subs really can kill a guild. My other guild pretty much completely died after I added sub-forums. xD
I'm not saying we shouldn't have any though. We just need the right ones.

I'm not saying we shouldn't have any though. We just need the right ones.Something about our guild that I really love is the fact that our "Ragtag bunch" can actually organize these games, and keep it fun. (Unlike AtKP. WTF!? What happened to the Rights of Man?! I do give them credit in being extremely well-organized, strategic, and highly intimidating because they don't talk or show emotion unless they are granted permission of it.)I mean, we're an organization, but we're also a bit of a community, nay, a family. This guild is just full of wonderful experiences and even non-chess related curriculum. I think this non-chess interaction can help our guild stay more devoted and held together because we're not just doing one thing, and it's giving us more bondage (hehe ;3) time. You know what I mean? A subforum for this would be good, but maybe we should wait a bit until we start having some people make more events that would fall under it. (Nobody would really visit an empty subforum much, in theory.) So far we've only got one actual active non-chess recreation thread--Res's Slave house. Also, for the subforum, I am wondering if we shoudl name it after Res, or Kyn, or Both. Since they are kinda the founders of the idea. Mod status would be great! (I find it funny that you mentioned Ukki first of your mind. He must be greatly devoted to achieve recognition in the eyes of our guild leader. Though, somehow I feel Kali Sword to take a higher leadership role than you in managing the guild, based on how I've seen her perform. Back to the subject of this off-subject: Ukki is about 5 steps from being my new rival. XD) I somehow feel I would pay specific attention to the moderation of the Game Log subforum. XD I wonder why? OMG! I JUST TEXT WALLED! SCHWAM! SCHWAAAAM!

And I'll be the first to admit I'm not very strict with things, so it's wonderful that we have some people here that are willing to be hard on people and come up with ideas. Haha. I may technically own the guild, but I don't want to have any more say in what goes on here than anyone else.
I agree with you, Sin, we're like an organization AND a community. biggrin And doing things like meeting in towns, drawing avi art, having contests and such will only the make the guild more fun and make people more motivated and dedicated.
Naming sub-forums after people is totally awesome. xd Every one we ever make should be named after the founder of the idea of the content (o__O ).

Everyone knows that good leaders can be strict, but that's only because making things work right requires it--to a certain degree. I believe Kali has the perfect (or at least near it) range of stricticity. XD I hope I will be able to develop her ablities of discernment between what should be let, and what should be BURNED. I may, in my moderation of the Log Subforum, achieve this. >3 WHOO!!! +1000 points for setting goals and having dreams and role models! Speaking of naming sub forums after people, shoudln't the Memorarium be named after you, since you founded the idea?
