Arianna sat on the lounge chair in the main hall, reading one of her favorite books. She had read it over one hundred times and knew much of it by heart. Books provided a much needed escape from the termoil caused by her uncle's reign. Peace had been unheard of for a great number of years. Everything seemed to revolve around the war between the elven kingdoms. Unfortunately, Ariana was forced to be on the side she favored least. Held down by the bonds of her family, she had no choice but to hope her uncle would stop being so cruel. There was no way she was going to abandone her family, nor her friends. Especially Josh and Jasper. Josh had been apointed heir of the dark realm by her uncle. Jasper is the brother of Josh. Both are kind to Ariana, but both also put on a mask of hatred to gain the favor of King Damion Reaper. Ariana's thaughts were interrupted by a guard, "Escuse me, princess. You have been summoned to the meeting of the royals. They are about to begin discussing the next course of action."
Ariana sighed, and fallowed the guard through the elegant hall.

The guard escorted Ariana to the meeting hall. Inside, Damion Reaper was sitting at the head of a long table. He spoke when he saw Ariana enter,"Ah, dear Ariana. I was wondering if you had seen young Josh lately. He's quite late for the meeting, you see." His words were menacing, and hate dripped from his every sillable. Ariana forgave him and spoke simply,"I last saw him early this morning. He was going on a walk, like he usually does. He should be back soon." As if on que, Josh burst through the door. "Sorry I'm late." He said roughly, taking his seat at the right of King Damion. Jasper shot Ariana a knowing look from his seat across from his very late brother. Ariana returned it, for she had just covered for Josh, like she usually does. Josh had explained a few months ago about his secret rendevous with the elven princess of the other realm. Whenever Josh spoke of the princess, he was very happy. There was such admiration and selflessness in his eyes, Ariana couldn't bear to betray him. Ariana began to exit the room quietly, when King Damion stopped her, "Please, princess. Would you care to join us?"
Ariana knew full well that it wasn't a question, but a command. She had sat through meetings like this one before. It was always depressing and boring. Everything revolved around battles, and lost casualties. Ariana had never enjoyed them. But, she obediently sat down in the chair provided for her next to Jasper, who helped push her in. It was a kind jesture, but Jasper had done many kind things in the presence of the King. Being only the brother of the heir of an evil kingdom allowed Jasper more freedom than his older brother.

Queen Pandora Dominic sat on as stool in front of her ornately decorated vanity. Her angelic reflection could be seen looking back at her from the mirror. There were dark circles under her eyes, the only flaw. Pandora looked away. The turmoils of war took a toll on her as well as her husband, King Altorez Dominic. He could often be spotted pacing the halls of the castle in thoughtful silence.
Pandora got up from her stool and walked toward the balcany. Leaning over the edge slightly, she could see the great wall that divided the two kingdoms. It stood tall, and strong. Pandora wondered if the two kingdoms would forever be separated.
A movement on the grounds caught Pandora's eye. Someone was running across the wide field. It was almost midnight, and Pandora could not make out who the person was until their face was illuminated by the moonlight.
It was her daughter. 'What in the world is she doing running from the direction of the wall?'
Pandora had seen the princess do this before, but had never brought up the subject. Pandora had never been very bright, but she figured it was better left unsaid. As long as her daughter was safe and happy, everything was fine.
