The Story of Kiki, The Elven Princess
Kiki was walking through the forest, near her home in Linaria. As she was walking towards her favourite tree, something caught her attention. It was a round floating ball of white and blue light. She was curious as to what it was, so she approached it. Once she was close enough she touched it and she felt like she was being plunged into water as it sucked her inside, leading her to a new world…
“Where am I?” she said once she got through. “And what on earth was that?” “What’s Earth?” a voice replied. Kiki looked around her. No one was in sight so she asked, “Who’s there…who said that?” A bush rattled near by, and out popped a big, giant bubble. Kiki was beside herself with laughter. Then repeated the question “Who’s there?” Once again, the bush rattled in response, and out popped a very short little man. “Oh boy, the queen will be very pleased…. You’ve finally come… oh yes, she’ll be very happy to see you again.” The short person said. “Hang on, what do you mean again? I’ve never met a queen before…and what on Earth are you?” “Oh I am sorry where’s my manners…I am Ranuckulus Bulbosus, but everyone calls me Ranuck. And What's Earth?” “Um, ok…but that doesn’t tell me what you are, and Earth is the planet I’m from.” “Oh, well I’m a Kender.” Said Ranuck “Uh huh…and what’s a Kender?” “Well I don’t know how else to explain it, but any who there will be plenty of time after we see the queen. She has been most anxious to see you again. Come, come.” The little Kender started to skip off on his merry way. Kiki, not understanding any of this, decided to follow Ranuck. When she caught up to him, she decided to ask more questions. “Um, Ranuck?” “Yes?” “Um…where am I?” “Well, Ashburry of course!” “Right… ok and when you said the queen was anxious to meet me again…what did you mean by that when you said again?” “Well since you’ve left she’s been awaiting your return.” “What? This is my first time ever being here…where ever here is….” Ranuck just simply laughed at that remark. “My dear, this is not your first time being here.” When he realized she had no idea what he was talking about, he added. “Your Queen Nixsea’s daughter!” “I’m what! No, I can’t be, my parents are farmers in Linaria. I mean I have never even heard of Ashburry. So how on earth could I be a queens daughter?” “Oh dear me…they never told you? Oh, boy…ok lets see where to start. You see, when you were born, the queen knew that if you had stayed then you would be in mortal danger because it is law that the Elven Queen cannot bear child with a human. So once you were born you were swept away from here with your father, and I’m guessing raised you in this other place called Linaria, and placed me at the portal that only you and your father could see and use.” “Whoa…What? Elven? Kender? Queens? Portals? What is going on here? “You’re the long lost Elven Princess, Kiki.” “But I’m not Elven, sure I have pointed ears, but I’m not short” Ranuck laughed. “Elves aren’t short! Ha-ha they’re far from it.” Kiki decided she did not want to know anything else, so she decided to continue walking in silence. Ranuck led her deeper and deeper into the forest, until they could see a clearing up a head, and they could hear voices. When they reached the clearing, Kiki gasped as she laid eyes on a beautiful sight, of tall tanned people young and old walking around in what appeared to be a city made out of the trees. Only then did Kiki realize that Ranuck was telling her the truth. Ranuck continued to walk into the clearing and rushed off out of sight. Kiki stood on the edge of the clearing gazing at all the people walking gracefully, going about their day. Kiki could not believe her eyes; she never knew that there was a village of Elves in the forest. She, herself, had played in that forest many times before, when she was a young girl. Suddenly she heard a boy’s voice and she came out of her thoughts. "Belle, come on, please come out. It's all right please come out." Kiki saw a boy that could not have been much older then her, trying to coax a small animal out from underneath a wagon full of food. Kiki moved towards the boy. “Hi. I could not help noticing that you are having a bit of trouble coaxing your pet out. May I help?” The boy looked up. “Sure, though mind you don’t get your hands too close, her spikes are starting to come in.” Kiki was puzzled but dismissed what he said and got down on her knees to assist the boy. When she peered under the wagon, she saw what he had meant by spikes. “Is that a Dragon?” she gasped. “Yes, but she’s only a baby. She has a twin brother too, but he is the harder one to handle. Ouch,” Just then he withdrew his arm quickly and Kiki saw a red patch on his hand that was not there before. “She burned me.” “Well here let me try.” Kiki peeked under the wagon and saw the dragon looking at her. Kiki stared back into the eyes of the Dragon and instantly felt a strange sensation run through her body. Without warning, the Dragon crept out and waddled onto Kiki’s lap, then started licking her hand. “Wow! I think she likes you.” He chuckled. “I think so too. What’s her name?” “Belladonna, but I call her Belle for short. I’m Cale by the way.” “I’m Kiki” Cale stared at her in pure astonishment. When he spoke, he spoke in a hushed tone. “Kiki? As in The Kiki? As in The Lost Elven Princess?” “I guess so. I mean that’s what Ranuck told me.” “You’ve met Ranuck? Wow, I thought I was the only one that knew him. So how did you get here?” “Um, that’s a good question. I’m not quite sure how I did get here, but Ranuck said something about a portal, or something.” “Wow,” Cale said with amazement. He looked around, “Well you should go to the Queen. You shouldn’t be out here with us Peasants.” “Well I don’t know exactly where anything is.” Said Kiki as she looked around herself and petting Belle. “Well then come with me, I’ll show you around before we go to the Queen. You can meet Belle’s brother, Dature, if you want to of course.” “That would be great.” She said Smiling. “Ok.” He grasped her hand and led her away from the wagon and Belle cantered behind them at the rim of Kiki’s brown tunic. On the other side of the clearing, Ranuck was racing along, dodging the many Elves. Then when he got to the magnificent Palace of Queen Nixsea, he raced along a corridor, up some steps then finally stopped inside the antechamber to the throne room. At the sight of Ranuck, the door guards opened the door and saw him through. Inside the throne room, beautiful vines and flower blossoms cover the walls. The throne, on which The Queen was sitting upon, was a delicately carved Ivory chair with vines and roses intertwined around the top and symbols all over the arms and the back of the seat. The Queen today was wearing an expression of utter boredom, and her ladies in waiting surrounding her, all listening to a young girl playing the flute. When Queen Nixsea saw, Ranuck enter the Throne room, for the first time in 17 years, her expression changed to pure excitement. Ranuck calmly walked through the ladies in waiting and when he got to the throne, he bowed deeply, took The Queen’s hand, and kissed it. “My Queen.” “Ranuckulus Bulbosus, I’m pleased to see you well, after so many years. What’s the news?” “Your Highness, she has come.” “Where is she?” looking past Ranuck to see if her daughter was there. “Well, I left her near the edge of the Southern forest.” The Queen suddenly stood up and all her ladies in waiting scrambled to their feet, giving each other quizzical looks. “Take me to her.” She proclaimed. “Take me to my lost Princess.”
d “Here, take my hand.” Kiki looking up into his face took his hand to help her over some rocks. “They’re just over this ledge, right?” Kiki asked. “Yes” Cale exclaimed. “So how old are they?” Kiki asked. “They’re 2 months old, though they are a real handful at times.” Cale said just as they climbed over the last rock. “And this, my princess is Dature’s pasture.” Kiki only had the briefest look at the open field before something knocked her to the ground. “Wait! She’s with me, Zoey.” The thing on top of Kiki sniffed her then did something she was not expecting. It licked her face then, “Well, she smells and tastes different. How do you know you can trust her?” “Well for starters, she’s the Princess of Ashburry, and she helped me get belle out from under a wagon in the village.” Cale said, “Plus, Belle trusts her, which is good enough for me. Now will you get off of her?” “Well, all right then. Though I did warn you what would happen.” Zoey replied while getting to her feet. Cale walked over to Kiki and helped her to her feet. While Kiki brushes off her tunic, Cale starts talking to Zoey. “So where’s Dature? We came to see him.” “He’s over by the Lake with Clover. She has it in her head that she can teach him a bit of Earth Magic,” said Zoey.
