Kitchen Item KAL/CAL!

This is the thread for the dishcloth-along which got turned into more of a general kitchen item-along. It will not have a specific end date like most of our other -alongs do.

This thread will just stay up as long as people are making kitchen items and since they are a pretty common thing to make, I figure it will be here a while.

Feel free to join in anytime, even if you can't post pictures. You can always post a link to the pattern you are using or just update us on your progress.

You know what guys? I totally got dishcloths confused with potholders! LMAO! I meant potholders, that is what I'm making. But I can make a dishcloth too. Maybe this should just be a kitchen item-along, LOL!

Anyway, I have a glove to finish before I start my potholders but it should be very soon. This is the pattern I will be using: Folded Potholder. I'm going to make at least two, maybe another set depending on how much yarn I have.

I also want to make the Skullholders from the book "Stitch 'N b***h Crochet: The Happy Hooker". (link here if you have Ravelry)

And now I guess I will go pick out a dishcloth pattern since I am a moron. LOL

Okay, here are some dishcloth patterns I like:
X-Stitch Dishcloth
Horizontal Ribs Dishcloth
Dishcloths (scroll down)
Lacy Dishcloth

There are some really cool Tunisian ones, wish I had a Tunisian hook.

And I came across these cool oven mitts that I might make too!

It is cute, huh? I am so not the potholder making type but I really liked it and my in-laws love to cook so I'm going to try it. I bet you could knit the same thing, you can knit in the round right? But can you go back along the other side like that? Hmmm...

I bought a huge thing of Bernat Handicrafter Cotton Naturals today that will be perfect for these kitchen projects and I also finally found a Tunisian hook so I can make that one pattern that I found, yay! I'll probably start the potholder in the next few days.

LOL Now I have a visual of cats munching on panties! rofl

Here are some knitting patterns for potholders from Knitting Pattern Central and in case anyone wants to knit some dishcloths they have a ton of patterns for those and there are oven mitts and stuff in the kitchen misc. section.

Here's my potholder. Following the pattern it turned out to be 5" square so I have started another one with a longer starting chain. Once I get the size right I will make a set in my Cotton Naturals yarn, yay!

So I finally finished my larger potholder and it turned out exactly the size that I wanted it to be. So now I am going to start a matching set in the natural color yarn for my mother in law. Also, my cousin just got a new place and her birthday is coming up so I might make her some, too!

I am using the pattern linked above with a starting chain of 50. I slip stitched this one closed so it would have a little ridge for decoration. I didn't like the way the seam looked on the first one.

I've been trying to make a bunch of different dishclothes so I give everyone a different one - unfortunatly I didnt take a picture of the one on the needle before I gave it away, but it was nice in the end, it had hearts on it biggrin
