Further east and further beneath the surface lies the Eastdark. The drow of this region stay mainly below ground, and receive most of their trade from drow and other subteranean creatures from other regions. Their main export is their magical artefacts and weapons which they take great pride in, as well as their art and sculpture in the honour of Lloth. The Priestesses control Undrek'Thoz like many other cites across the Underdark but the city also has the largest Magical Library in the Underdark in the University of Magic.

Amber rose eyes flickered over the crowd scanning quickly before pulling back before he could draw to much attention. Jysayne moved away from the crowd, careful where he stepped in barefeet. Games, his mentor wanted to play games with him. Just peachy.
The younger was not wearing the long elegant kimono robes, instead a simple outfit of gray cotton with an obi sash to hang his fan and long wide sleeves to keep the small needles not in his pined up hair. Of all things, hide and seek in the city? Was that suppose to help him train to be an assasian?
Jysayne sigh, eyes half lid, just his luck.

Valyrr stretched, surreptitiously working the kinks out of his muscles while trying not to attract the attention of his group's mentor. His class in the warrior school had been rewarded for good performance with a trip to Undrek'Thoz. Valyrr could not help feeling suspicious that this was not really a reward, but rather another training exercise. He was, however, unable to give any reason for this belief except a general feeling. That, and the fact that the young warriors-in-training had been granted free roam of the city until an appointed time. It seemed a little unlikely that the warrior school would really grant its students a true holiday so early on, but at the same time it seemed impractical to spy upon the doings of an entire class of youths in a real city for the first time since they came to the school.
His red amber gaze fell briefly on a male wearing an outfit which seemed chosen for being unobtrusive. The slender male made him feel as though he should check his money pouch, but he checked the impulse. He knew because his Matron had told him so, that physically checking one's money was as good as giving a thief permission to rob him. At the last minute he turned his glance into a brief stare which he hoped was brazen enough to convice the other male not to try anything.
His group was beginning to disperse, and he took the opportunity to duck into a shop which sold ribbons and lace. It wasn't his cup of tea, but Shri would like to get a gift from him. In her letters she had complained that he was neglecting her. He didn't have enough money to buy silks or velvets for her - he was only a male, after all - but perhaps some pretty ribbons or delicate lace would appease her.

And it seemed he wasn’t the only one on some training exercises if the group of warriors was anything to go by. Judging by attire, stance, and just basically attitude they were foreign. It was a bit odd considering most foreigners came to Underk’Thoz for trade in the various magical implements created by the masters of East Dark. He should know having been born amidst traders instead of in a house the rates such weapons and artifacts went for. These where students surely they did not have the funds to buy weapons or even armor at the moment so why were they in his home city? Surely they where not interested in art. He snickered at that. Perhaps it was a reward for surely a group exercise would just draw attention.
Jyses smiled sweetly as one of the warriors gaze fell on him. Not bad looking. Different color eyes paler then his so the yellow was more noticeable. The amber in his eyes tended to look more orange next to the softer color iris not red but more rose. Short hair was not a plus. It turned into a brief stare which just made him even more amused. Strange, he was getting the odd feeling the other was trying to warn him away. Question was from what?
Jysayne bounced slightly on his feet, watching the group disperse to who know where. Lets see…continue to search for his mentor or figure out what this odd group was doing in his home. Decisions, decisions, Jyses grinned eyeing the shop the other had slipped into. Silks, lace, ribbon? Mind made up he whistled a little bit of a tune sliding after the other into the shop.

Valyrr looked up from the ribbons he had been looking at. His first moments in the shop had not been promising. There was too much variety and he had no idea, really, what would please Shri best. And so he stood by a display of ribbons and looked despairingly at them, wondering if he should simply leave, or if he ought to enlist the aid of the proprietor. However, his thought processes were broken off when he looked up on a whim and saw the same slender male as before enter the shop.
His mouth set itself into a grim, forbidding line as he found himself wondering how to justify his presence in a shop which clearly catered to a female clientele. The truth would, naturally, be simplest. He was here to find a gift for his little sister. He couldn't help wanting to use guile though. It was a basic biological instinct for a Drow Elf. Deception and lies were first-nature, even to a simple warrior, such as Valyrr was. He reminded himself that it was entirely possible that this was a training exercise and that this person had been a plant, assigned to follow him. He wasn't being particularly subtle about it, if that was the case.
A small smirk quirked his lips out of their unfriendly expression and he selected two lengths of ribbon at random and approached the stranger.
"Which do you think?" he asked. Maybe he could make the other person uncomfortable enough not to bother him.

Jyses breathed deeply the scent of cloth and light incense, eyes half closed as he took in the pleasant stillness. He walked slowly about the shop on quite bare feet, ignoring the slightly scowl from the proprietor. His feet where clean thank you very much and his Matron was a valued customer. Eyes flickered catching the same male warrior standing next to the display of ribbons.
A slender brow arched at the grim line set on the others lips and chin. He looked down at his clothing from the plain but well cut shirt with long sleeves, to the soft charcoal pants to his bare feet wrapped in strips of cloth. Certainly his appearance or attire couldn’t make such a frown on such a face. Perhaps he was just uncomfortable being so out of place. He did stick out like a sore thumb amidst the delicate forms of feminine beauty.
“Matter who you are buying them for really,” Jyses replied at ease. “The one of the left is more simple but such a delicate shade of ivory and the patterns are geometric quite fitting for the sleeves of a kimono or a dress shirt. The one on the right is a deep warm violet quite simple and the width suggest its to be worn as a hair ornament.”

Valyrr blinked several times in rapid succession, startled by the total failure of his tactic, which he had meant to be off-putting. Clearly he was better suited to being a warrior than to being crafty. He glanced at the ribbons with a surprised expression that seemed to place the blame on the ribbons for not acting according to plan. It was clearly their fault. Right.
Valyrr shrugged mentally and considered that he would likely not come to Undrek'Thoz again, and therefore it would do no harm for him to be civil.
"Both are valid points. Thank you," Valyrr conceded, giving the ribbons another, more fair glance, though it remained relatively cursory. Half to himself he murmured, "Considering Shri, she'd rather have a hair ornament. She's very proud of her hair."
He gave the ribbons a more critical look and discarded both casually. He looked appraisingly at the drow who had just offered his opinion on the sundries. He seemed very at ease with himself and very at ease with his surroundings. Unusual for one who went around a city practically barefoot to be comfortable in a shop which catered to feminine interests. However, the rest of his manner made it less shocking that he was relaxed. Somehow he seemed to possess a certain amount of vanity, despite his currently plain attire.
"I'm shopping for my sister," he explained in a rush. Too rushed. It sounded false, even though he was telling the truth. Gesturing around at the shop, he added with a wry grin, "What's your excuse?"

Jyses lips pursed slightly as he fought and won against bursting into laughter at the warrior’s expression. It would not endear him to the man he wanted to question as to why he was in his city. While his face remained smooth his eyes danced watching the blame be put firmly on the ribbons. As if the little scraps of fabric had anything to do with the blunder.
“Of course, it’s not unusual for men folk to get the two confused,” Jyses said soothing a hint of amusement in his tone. “While the thicker ones can work as hair ornaments they tend to be a bit more difficult unless its part of an ornamental head dress.” His sisters certainly had discovered while elegant wide ribbons needed a second pair of hands usually to make sure the knot, bow, and what not draped correctly.
Dark toes wiggled at the appraisingly glaze, eyes turning half lidded. Really didn’t they teach children that staring was rude? Or if you had to look do it with a little more dignity? “Like what you see?” He asked voice taking a warm husky sound with a hint of sarcasm buried deep. Certainly his mentor had heard such tone more then once.
“Mmm, well perhaps I was just wonder why such a group of foreign students suddenly descended in the market place? Specially when they do not seem to have the means to buy the weaponry East dark is so framed for. But if it’s merely to buy hair ribbons for younger sisters I suggest remembering the color of her favorite outfit and going from there.”

Valyrr fought unsuccessfully against the furious, embarrassed darkening of his cheeks and eartips at what could only be construed as innuendo. If innuendo was the word. There wasn't much which was subtle about asking if someone liked what they saw. Not in that tone of voice. He was too off-balance to detect the sarcasm. And now, because he'd blushed, it would seem as though he was in some way attracted to the surprising ribbon expert. He couldn't help wishing that Shri was there. She could deliver as sound a lashing for impudence with her tongue as she could with her whip. He had to quickly suppress a shudder which was not entirely unpleasant at the thought of her whip.
"I'm not here - we're not here - specifically to shop. It's supposed to be a reward for very good performance in our lessons, this venture. Some of the class is visiting family and friends, but I know no one in the Eastdark, and so I find that there is little to interest me here. As you say, we haven't the means to buy any of the fine weaponry I keep seeing, and it's not pleasant to be constantly reminded of what one wishes to have, but cannot possess." He knew all about that.

The full spreading blush was surprising and Jysayne wonder if that fabulous color trickled down to spread across neck and shoulders. How innocent could the warrior be? “Don’t worry darling, you’re not my type,” he drawled out “if you grew your hair out a little bit, well maybe,” more sarcasm. He was happily seeing someone at the moment.
“I thought not, though it seems odd to reward good performance with such a trip.” Jyses shrugged back a shoulder. Unless they believe showing such a tempting prizes would make the warriors all the more willing to battle in a chance in receiving such fine weapons sometime in their life times. His needles where such fine works. The needles had been passed down the family from his grandmother, to his mother, and finaly himself. His fingers slid across them in his sleeve.

Valyrr finally managed to control his blush and made himself meet the stranger's gaze. When he did so, he realized that he was being teased. Then, with a ghost of a smile, for this was not territory he often tread, he replied, "Don't flatter yourself. You're not my type either. Maybe if you were just a tiny little bit more feminine."
Put a weapon in his hands, especially a scimitar, and Valyrr could hold his own against any student in his class. He could even be effective with a whip, though his family had forbidden males to wield that particular weapon, or even hold it. Shri had taught him to use it against the rules. She liked breaking the family's rules. The point, however, was that Valyrr was a warrior. Verbal sparring was not his forte.
"I do not question my training masters. They say this is a reward, and I try to think of it as one." He was trying very hard to ignore the growing feeling that his training masters knew their pupils were not usually socially adept, and were therefore likely to get into altercations with the locals. It would be one way to test them, he supposed, though it was not his place to make such suppositions.
There was something which was rapidly becoming awkward in this conversation, besides the ability of Valyrr's erstwhile companion to lead him into embarrassing verbal situations, and Valyrr decided it was time to rectify it. Pronouns could get wearing after a while.
"I'm Valyrr," he said, "of the Baen'duis family of Llurth Dreir." He didn't mention that he was currently in disgrace. A stranger really didn't need to know that. Besides, he didn't want to think how easily this particular stranger would turn that bit of knowledge into something else to tease him about.

“I guessed, judging by the remarkable coloration that spread across your cheeks and ears you would be horribly straight. But if a touch more feminine is all that is needed, well I certainly can change clothing and toss my hair up into something,” Jyses mocked calmly. “Needless to say you appear much at place in here,” he motion to the store and delicate bits of finery, “as a drider in a library.”
“Ahh, but if one does not question ones masters one does not really learn.” Jysayne was quite at easy with verbal sparring having held his own with six elder siblings. And snipping at his tutor when sullen and pissed.
“Llurth Dreir, pleasant place. Warm.” Jysayne relaxed having learned more then he thought he would from Valyrr. “You can call me Kai if you wish and such I must be going. Perhaps if you have a taste for feminine boys you might want to try the brothel about three streets down."

Valyrr found himself able to relax more when Kai said he knew he was straight. He knew that there were those who were same-sex oriented, and he didn't fault them their choices, but he was not one of them, and did not particularly care to be taken for one of their number, considering the general derision which came with the preference in his family. He nodded wearing a somewhat self-deprecating smile in acknowledgment of Kai's comparison. It was certainly apt.
In response to Kai's suggestion for where he might find some entertainment his self-deprecating smile morphed into a more mocking one. This felt more like the sort of banter he was used to engaging in with his fellow sargtlin trainees. "Ha. Ha. That was so funny I forgot to laugh."
All right, it had been funny.
"And maybe in your line of work you can question your masters, but it's frowned upon in my profession," he continued, and then couldnt help asking "When have you been to Llurth Dreir?"

"About,"Jyses paused thinking back to the last time he rode with the carvan. "Ohh two..three years ago?" He questioned himself. Most of his memories of Llurth Dreir where faded but for the main attractions of the cities. Such as the liquid, flowing lava and the umm scarfices into the molten rock. It was hard not to remeber the stench of burning flesh. His nose wrinkled slightly as the thought brought up that smell again. Disgusting. And it had ruined all the charm of the city for him.
"Been about everywhere at least once really. Family was traders till recenlty." After the whole sold thing, the only one continuing the round was his elder brother. The rest had left on their own paths and his parents had retired. Somewhere..he certainly had not seen them about the city.

Valyrr nodded, thinking back to two or three years ago. He had no idea what had been going on in Llurth'Dreir at the time, and virtually no memories from that time, either. He'd still been incarcerated. That hadn't ended until recently, when Matron decided to send him to train as a warrior at Rylin'lyl. It had practically been a death sentance anyway, since he'd been without training, or even exercise for ten years, locked away in a the darkest of holes with no visitors but the silent slave who brought him food occasionally.
"Ah." Val didn't press the point. The until recently bit seemed a bit ominous, and he didn't wish to pry. He was good at minding his own business. "Must've been exciting to travel. At least, not as monotonous as a sedantary lifestyle."
