Considering its not my normal region, I don't know altogether that much about it. I do know that its where Chris is from, and there are lots of lords fighting for power. Loyalty to one lord means that others will hate you. Its kinda simple in that respect maybe? Though that does make for very fractioned parties at times.

Chris's grandmother lives here with the clan, as well as her master. Or her master should be here, though there are no doubt other connections her master has to her that she has yet to realize. Enjoy your stay!

--Riverwalk Society--
--Gaia Date: June 3rd, 2008--

It was the second day of testing for the young bard, the day when she had to perform her own works, the day before had been testing her ability to improv works as well as singing some songs made by others and making them her own. Today was the day when she would be performing her main piece of said category as well as her own original song. She was nervous, very nervous about it, as she'd been working on her own music hard as she could and never thought it would be good enough.

Well, today would be the day it was to be tested. The teachers were sitting out in the audience, the only ones there. Some of the other students were backstage preparing their own music for their own time to perform, but right now it was Chris's turn.

"Name."

"Chris Talespinner." She was amazed at this point that her voice was steady.

"Instrument?"

"My voice."

"Will you be using a secondary instrument?"

"Yes."

"What is this instrument?"

"My lyre."
She held it out in her hands for them to see.

"Very good, begin when ready."

Chris took her seat on the stage and started to play her tune. The intro to it was light and flowed very well into the song itself. As she began to sing the arcane energies flowed around her, and she slowly gave all she could to the song, to perform it the best she could, to make everyone live in the moment of the song. So long as she could make them all love the music as she did, she believed her to do very well.

She could barely notice the smiles and nods of approval on the faces of the other teachers. They all had an interest in the piece she was singing, some took notes, others just listened.

For Chris, though she didn't know it, it was a very good day for her.

She looked up from her scrying and her eyes went a little wide. "Two...two kinds?" She looked down towards her hands, they trembled slightly. "But how? Even I didn't see..." She lowered her hands and looked away from the pool of water, canceling the spell altogether to ponder this new information. With a sigh she realized who it must be from. "And she's gone now...disappeared..."

With a flick and a quick casting she prepared in her mind a message summoning the presence of Katiana, Chris and Donovan. It wasn't a request for them, that they could turn down, but she wouldn't Geas it yet. She still needed to prepare. "It will have to be taken care of then...that must be what he was planning for..." She shook her head. Would she be ready to see her granddaughter after all these years? She'd have to be ready, there was no escaping it now. Especially now with two kinds. It had been so long since she sent the child out on her own and now she was all grown up...or in the process of it.

The only thing she didn't do was set a specific date for their return. She figured either she would wait until after the second date, as so long as she didn't snap, things would be all right, or until they could all come as a group. There would be no individual not coming to this that she had summoned. She had need to talk with all of them.

"Why did you summon those three in particular Vashra?" The man sounded worried. "Chris I can understand why you would want to Geas, but you know Katiana would come regardless...but Chris's special someone as well?"

She sighed. Explaining things out was something she never liked doing. "Katiana is carrying a child...for the betterment of the child she may chose to not come, as you know time passes here and there differently. She wouldn't want to harm her child now back in the Gaian world. Donovan is key. For the ritual to succeed, she will need someone to hold her together."

"You couldn't..." the man trailed off and then he realized why not.

"Exactly. Its not like I can do it, neither can you nor anyone in the clan or in this world. It has to be someone that is closer to her than we ever could be," she said.

"I see," he replied. "And he'll be a defining factor as she has to decide her true heritage then?"

"If it is what we think it is, then yes," she replied. "Has he been summoned?"

"Yes, he's on his way now. Though from the talking...he sounded alarmed, concerned..." he trailed off. "I should have known better when I handfasted..."

"You did nothing wrong my son, I am the one, for I did not see it. All we can do now is aide Chris in this next part of her life..." she said.

"How much do we know Vashra?" the man asked.

"She has two heritages, and for a dragon, that is bad. Especially with such conflicting heritages, and how protective Dragons are when muddling bloodlines. Chris is...a sin against nature in some eyes," she explained. "Being of two conflicting halves...he must have known...and realized when something happened...that something was up. We had planned on telling her...and then he didn't...and kept it secret from her all these years..."

"At least we know how much dragon is in her," he pointed out.

"More than half that's for sure," she replied. "But she can only have one. The ritual will assure that, though...she needs someone to help her in it. We can only do so much." The ritual was designed for someone with just one heritage, and they were asking for her to chose one of two, which was unexpected and not tried often. The Vashra knew that the two sides would be battling to try and assert dominance...and the weaker side, the heritage that the clan held, was the weaker. That side...held Chris as she was, the musical person she is, the person people knew. The other side, the one that had the stronger side of dominance, was the...unknown side, but she ... if what she could gather about the side was right, it was evil...

He yawned and stretched as he continued packing books away in his bag of holding, the largest he had. He would need lots of reading for the journey over and the duration of his stay. Especially books with information on rituals and the like. He was partially excited he'd be able to see Chris again, as he hadn't seen her in a few years, but also wary in thinking she might not take the news well.

The Vashra better know what she was doing. He'd head to pick up Chris and the others at the gate, messaging Isis and the others of Katiana and their group to meet them all there as well. He knew she'd Geas/Quest Donovan, Katiana and Chris to guarantee their return here, as she knew Chris would be reluctant, Katiana would as well carrying a child and all (from the latest letter he'd gotten when she last sent one while here) and she knew little to nothing about Donovan, as she wouldn't scry on him because she wanted to see how he would be on a first impression instead.

Stashing things away he changed his form and flew out of the cave for a while, it'd take him several days to reach his destination, if he was just flying.

"Is he on his way Vashra?" the man asked.

"Yes, he's one his way. No doubt he'll be at that gate soon," she said. "He won't take his time with this...not with this..."

"Are you sure? What more preparations are we going to need to take?" he asked.

"The site does need to be protected, prepared...but that's in the works with some of the others..." she said, her voice trailing off as she thought. "Chris's arrival with the others...well, we know I have a few things to say...but then we should make preparations for a welcome home..."

"Oh? The lost sheep come home?" he asked. "I have missed her...my daughter..."

"Its time," she said. Chris's heat was done and it had to be taken care of. The ritual was being prepared as she put the pieces into place.

"Hey, think we should pick a few things up for the kids?" Yuko asked.

"What did you have in mind?" Auron asked. "And what kids?" He chuckled, she could mean several options, their own included.

"All of them, its not like we don't have some gold to share. At least visit the candy store," she said.

"How much candy do you think would suit? Pounds wise," he said, shifting on his feet and crossing his arms.

"Several...there's a lot of them, remember?" she asked with a chuckle.

"In the morning love, we should get a place to rest for tonight," he said. "You've been here...where should we stay? I don't think you wanted us to head back tonight, right?"

"Ah, true," she said. "Let's see where the best place to sleep would be..." And she started leading the way. Though they might not be getting a lot of sleep.

The next day Auron and Yuko woke and did a little shopping early in the morning, having a light breakfast among other things before deciding to gate back to the outskirts of the Rhennee camp. They got some supplies and trading items that the Grandmother had asked them to get, and they visited a candy store and made the owner so happy by buying several pounds of their hard candy and other treats.

"Oh! Almost forgot," Yuko said. "The eggs!"

"You are a mother," Auron said with a chuckle. "Are you certain we should bring them along?"

"At least to check on them love," Yuko said, making sure the candy was well balanced on the floating disk. "Machika is watching over them. But you know me...to be close to my children...even if they are lost eggs..."

"I don't think I would've liked to see you a nesting mother...eggs would have been odd," Auron said.

"Come now," she said, laughing. She nuzzled into his shoulder and then kissed him lightly. "I didn't awaken my heritage until I met that vassal of Bahamut." Her golden skin glimmered in the faint light.

"True," he said. "All right, I'll cast it..." A few gestures and Machika's voice reached them.

"Mom, dad? You there?" she asked.

"Yes, its us honey," Yuko said. "How are the eggs?"

"They're doing fine mom," she said. "How's Yuki?"

"Your brother is fine," Yuko replied. "And we're in the process of helping Chris."

"Miss Chris? Is she all right?" Machika asked.

"She will be I think...don't know how she took the information after all," Auron said. "And that's why I'm here...to make sure she is all right. No one will die while I'm here."

"Just take care of the eggs...and then you can come after its done honey," Yuko said.

"Why can't I come now?" Machika asked.

"Yuki has more experience than you," Yuko said. "He's been to the Shield Lands...you still really haven't left home."

"I know...but still..." she said. "I miss being near him. Can I come over...please please? I promise I'll behave and watch the eggs!"

"Twins...can't keep them separate for long," Auron said. "Why not let her come over?"

"All right honey...I'll tell Katiana to pick you up then, all right? But you promise me to watch the eggs and stay out of trouble."

"So long as Yuki's there!" Machika said. "I promise mom!"

"All right, I'll tell Katiana when we get back. She should be going to Highfolk."

"Right," Auron said. "I think we should get going back, the candy needs to be delivered..."

"Of course," Yuko said, popping one piece from the bags in herself. "Though... daresay seeing the bard on a sugar rush could be fun."

"Today was meant to be the relaxed day..." Auron said. The connection had been cut to Machika, she'd be collected by Katiana.

"True. Well, are we ready to return?" Yuko asked. "We have the candy, the gold..."

"Yes, I believe we are," he said. "Gate it is?"

"Of course," she replied. He kissed her again. "What's that for?"

"You know how often you go off on adventures? Hardly see you otherwise," he said. "I've missed you."

"I always come back," she said. "I haven't died."

"I'd have to find you, your body and raise you...and if I can't find your body...have to True Res you..." he said and started nuzzling into her neck.

"Didn't you get enough of me last night?" she asked with a laugh.

"Its never enough," he replied. "But we should get going."

"Right." she replied. "There's more we have to do."
