Did this one a while ago I admit. However, I was thinking about creating another bird picture (maybe a parakeet or an owl.) so I wanted to get your opinions on this old picture.
It was done with open canvas 1.1
I know the tail isn't that good. I sort of ran out of steam when I was trying to create the light effects on it. Ah well. XP

Very nice. It's feathers really give a feeling of fire. It really looks good against the green background.

Not digging the composition, it coud've been more intestesting with a different pose and more forshortning or something. Centering=BAD
Also, as much as I love loose and freeness, the background pushes it. It's way too smudgy and haphazzard. If you want to be loose and free, you have to make it seem like it was meant that way, not like you accidently left a big open background until the end and filled it in randomly because you wanted to finish the piece.

Excellent work, Tavis Harts...I think that you should have added light fire colors, such as orange and yellow to the wings, but you did a great job!! It looks very realistic, I like the green background.

well i probably would or used more oranges and yellows for the the edges and sort of to have an effect of fire and stuff, maybe also use it on other materials sort of to show that the light is reflecting on the other materials, then i might have used more darker hues to show contrast so that light and fire has a greater effect
The subject is very close to the middle kinda makes it boring could have made the bird wrap around the image with perspective and what not to draw in the viewer? Only the tip of the tail looks funky the rest of the tail is fine.
