So, who else here has a Military Ball?
Who has asked you?
Who have you asked?
Where is it held?
What happens?
Tell me all about yours!!!

Ours is held at the Mariot.
The C.O. asked me. ^_^
This means I get to stand in the greeting line, sit at the dias for the supper, toasts, and honor speaker, help cut the cake, and I get first dance if he's crowned king!

I'm so excited. ^_^

Wow, you get crowned all through the years?

Only Junior and Senior Staff Members are eligible, and it's King and Queen only.
Ours is the 23rd.

We have a Marine Corps Birthday Ball. I don't ever ask anyone and no one asks me. I just dance with a group of friends. It's held at some ritzy golf course place. And we talk about the birth of the Marine Corps, watch the color guard post the colors, eat, dance, and spike the punch.

Although I personally have no intention of becoming a Marine, I do love their deep-rooted traditions. And their parties. The USMC Birthday is probably bigger than any party my Air Force will ever dream of having.

Now, I was the President of the Mess at our dining out, which was definitely nice. I must say, I sort of enjoyed sitting at the head table and talking across the room to Mr. Vice while everyone has to listen to our jokes. My date didn't like being stared at as much as she was, but she was beautiful, so nobody could help themselves.

Since we have a dance afterwards, I'll call it a military ball as well as a dining out. We rented out a country club for the event, and had it catered by Olive Garden, which I thought was a nice touch. Our Sgt is a very firm believer in making us do things ourselves, so he basically watched as we put it on this year. I was prould of my cadets. They did a nice job, and we invited a guest speaker (a LTC in the US Army) and several distinguished visitors. They put on a wonderful show, with minimal help.

I'll post pictures when we have our ball.

Ours is a little while away.

We have just the one ball, and it's really importnat to me, because I'm transferring schools next year.

The CO was so cute when he asked me.

"So, how would you like to cut that cake, like you were meant to?"

Traditionally, the CO and his date cut the military ball cake, and everyone is extremely convinced that if I stayed, I would be the CO in 2 years.

Our school, the poor b*****d that it is, hosts the Marine Birthday ball in a decorated and somewhat-transformed school cafeteria. It's amazing though, and the atmosphere is totally different from a normal school dance. It's the highlight of my year, really it is.

I haven't been asked to the Ball, but when I was there, I kind of picked up a date, a freshman guy who decided I was pretty cool because I asked him to dance with me once when he was going to leave the dance floor.

I asked first my boyfriend-ish guy of the time, and he refused to go, so I asked my friend who's now my boyfriend, but he couldn't go because of his grades (his parents wouldn't let him), and then I ended up asking my female friend to come with me.

What happens? First there's a dinner, then there's a ceremony, and then the dance. The ceremony's pretty boring though, but whatever.

Well, here's a couple of mine. I would post some more, but I didn't like the way I looked in the others. The first one is from our USMC B-day Ball in 2006, and the second one is from 2007. As you can see, I got a haircut. xp

I hope everyone's goes well.

I just lost my date-the C.O. of our company was fired, and is no longer allowed to have any affiliation with the ROTC program, including being brought to Military Ball.

I'm all alone.
