I decided to make a thread for the mods and the rest of the guild so everyone can know what is going on, what is being planned, and what will happen in this guild
As of this moment, the guild might have a bit of lagging in activity since some of the mods are college students. I am one of them. I am going to try to stay active while balancing classes, a job, and a g/f.
I have noticed that our number of guild members has actually gone down a bit.. I wasn't sure at first, but some people have been quitting the guild. What can we do to fix this? Recruit. The more members, the better. (usually) There might be something else that might be the problem, but for right now, I think it would be best if we brought in a fresh crowd. Mods, I'm counting on you to seriously do your recruiting duties.
Also, I think we need more ideas for threads, games, and contests since a lot of people haven't really been active here besides my beloved mods, a few friends, and some visitors. I'd believe that with 400 members here, we'd be up to our necks in posts to read, but I guess not. I will set aside a day or two to recruit on my own in the following weeks. I'm counting on my mods to do what they can to make this place stay alive.
Guild Gold, what should we do with it?
a. Use for contests *prizes and gold prizes in our monthly contests*
b. Distribute to worthy gaians who are active on the guild (not all at once, like give a small amount if someone does something to help out or if someone earns it)
c. Allow me to decide ninja
d. leave as is
e. wait and see what gaia has in store for guilds in the future
*Some may not understand what I mean, so I'll explain if anyone has any questions*

If we do use the E option, then we might have to figure out how we are going to do a few things.
Right now, I am the one who is spending my own gold to pay for contests. I don't see that as fair. A few contests have entry fees, so that kind of evens it out, but my bumping contest and avi art contests are gold prize contests. Mods, any words about this?
I was thinking of leaving the bumping contest as is and changing the avi art contest so there would be an entry fee. then, we could take out a small amount to pay the winner. The only other option is to just forget the contest for a while.. but that might not help the already low flow of members we have. (I say low because there isn't a flood of new posts every couple of hours)

I will say right now that a gold prize should be an accumulation of entry fees as mentioned before. As more people participate then the larger the payout. Hopefully this will also encourage other users on the boards to step up and take a shot at the prize. Also I ask that we limit the period of time a contest winner can enter again (as mentioned in another thread). This way we have a fair balance as our population is still very small.

It is in our best intrest, besides you can count on the game bringing in a lot of people...But people we can stand? Hmmm.

New/Old/Revisited Business
Recruiting...
I am currently going to fly aroung the gaia forums... *yes, I can fly..*
... *momentary pause*.. to find more members that I think could or should be here. I am looking for as many non-n00b and newb gaians as possible. I am making it my duty to invite about 25-50 members a week. Keep in mind that I am doing this because I want this guild to grow. My mods are doing thier part as I have requested.. But I want to take the guild member count up a few notches. I believe that once we have about 1000 members, the posting traffic will be sufficient enough so that we can see this guild as one of the better ones on gaia. The guild isn't that new.. in fact, It has only been around for 2 months. Help me to make this guild great mods!
Guild level of privacy. Should the guild....
Go back to being a public guild?
Remain a Private guild?
or... Become a hidden guild?
My opinion.. I believe that this place should be a public guild so that people can request to join.. *I'm not sure if people can request when it is private*

My suggestion is to make the guild public again. If people can preview the guild then they will be motivated to join on their own. We need a marketing plan (in animated gif form) to sell the guild.

I vote for E., as many others have. I also say that we do the entry fee thing, as I echo Izam's sentiment exactly: the more players, the more payout. Encourages entries and helps us.

I owe prize money to the following people:
Avi art contest winner: Cookie, I know what you said about it so, I'll wait until the guild gold can be used.
Avatar contest winner and bump contest winners= 1500 I believe.
Current amount taken from my gold, 1500 for now.
Once the Guild allows mods or just me to use gold for things, donating to the guild will be far more suggested. I'm fine with occasional donators to the guild, but here's the skinny. We'll need guild gold to fund contests and whatever else gaia might throw at the guilds. I know that it might not be a problem when cookiethehungry's flash game comes up.
Also, if a mod or a member decides to make a game that gives out prizes... well here is a warning.
Members, if you're going to make a contest, don't expect the guild to pay for all of the prizes, it'd have to go this way, you put in a little gold and we might do the same. WE WILL NOT GIVE GOLD FOR ITEM PRIZES. Items cost a lot of gold nowadays. We won't shell out a couple k for an item. It takes a lot of work to get gold into the guild account.
Mods, you can host a contest as long as you tell me what it will be about in great detail. Most contests and games require an entry fee.
A note to both parties, contests with entry fees are allowed as long as a teeny bit goes to the guild. Not a whole bunch. Maybe 50-100 gold would be nice.
I'm just looking at this realistically.
