Hi everyone. Thought I'd share what I've just finished. It's a handbag from McCalls 5598. I've been making different handbags to try out the patterns and find the perfect bag for me. I like the adjustable handle on this one. It adjust to shoulder length too! The fabrics are from a coordinating set, which made it simple to pick out. Some times it's hard to find that many fabrics to go together. I needed 7 different prints for this pattern.

Oooh, so colorful! ^_^ I'm using some similar fabrics for a quilt for my nephew's 1st birthday....which I really need to get started on soon! whee ;;

So cute and vibrant!
Right now I'm just making a simple checkbook out of quarters of old kimono silks a friend sent me. I got tired of the grody black plastic one I got from the bank.
No pattern or anything, just an inside, an outside, a small slit to insert the book, and some mylar sheets inside for sturdiness. I'll take pics when I'm done smile

Oo, that's going to be a beautiful quilt! I'm working on a weird old-fashioned lady holding roses walking in a garden thing. It's HUGE, probably the biggest I've ever done. In progressIt's going pretty well, but I'm not even 1/4 the way done. xD

They can be tedious. sweatdrop This one is going pretty fast, as it's relatively easy, just large. I've been known to get bored and stop a project for months, and then go back to it. >.>;; I've been working on that one for a few hours a day (Usually while watching TV) for a month or so.

I get bored too quick on cross stitches. sweatdrop I've done a few tiny ones (like 3"), but the single medium sized one I started has been sitting in a box, only 1/3rd finished for years now. xp
Bought a walking foot for my machine today, gonna make some quilted pot holders to practice binding and quilting on my machine before I tackle my kitty quilt and botch it because I don't know what I'm doing. xd ;;

I've been doing them for nearly a decade. xd ; As long as I pick a good one, I don't get bored. Or at least, if i do, I usually go back to it within a few months. (Of course, tell that to the poor samurai guy I haven't touched in nearly a year. rolleyes )

Man, I really need to get a machine. :S I have all this fun fabric that's begging for something.
Do those machines that are supposed to do the 'quilting' stitches really work? My son has a few quilts that his great-aunt made him, and I can't figure out for the life of me how you do all the stitching on the back and such.

I've just finished up a hoodie based off a video game character. Gotta get soem pics and it will be going up in my etsy shop. I'llpost a link when I get my pics taken. I have two other ones planned out. Going to hopefully start on the other one next week!

I think the ones that are marketed as doing quilting probably just come with the necessary feet. Just about any machine can be fitted with a walking foot (needed for quilting straight lines) or a free motion foot (needed for quilting in swirlies and shapes). The feet cost like $20-30. I'm currently doing some machine quilting for the first time and it's going pretty smoothly. :3 Did 2 pot holders (reminds me, I need to take pics of them) and am starting on my nephew's quilt.

See I'm sewing by hand for the first time ever... I've been a machine junkie... but alas my machine broke... how much does it cost to get a Singer fixed I wonder... I inherited my grandmother's and I love it... but the piece that holds the bobbin in broke... so it won't feed fabric and whatnot... I don't know...

My old Singer just broke and they quoted me $200+ for repairs. stressed But mine was a worse break, it sounds. If it's something they can get to without taking the whole machine apart, it's probably much cheaper. Go here--> http://www.singerco.com/support/parts_charts.html and look up the part, then once you have the part number, search for it online. Maybe it's something you could fix yourself? The piece that broke in mine was only $12, but the entire machine had to be dismantled to get to it.
