A band fronted by one of the most talented musicians to date (Steven Wilson), Porcupine Tree is a progressive band that has not made a single bad song that I know of...Sort of like Rush, but with only one super-musician.
Their last album, Fear Of A Blank Planet, featured guest guitarists Robert Fripp (King Crimson...Check them out. They're one of my favorite bands as well) and (You guessed it!) Alex Lifeson, who happen to be two of my favorite guitarists.
It's an amazing band with a really unique sound. Check them out.

Well, I found them on YouTube and took a listen to a couple of thier songs, but it wasn't quite my cup of tea. I'll stick with the oldies but goodies.

I bought Fear of a Blank Planet. The band's style isn't my favorite, but I really like "Fear of a Blank Planet" and "Anesthetize." Alex's solo was GREAT. biggrin

Shanra the Bard Well, I found them on YouTube and took a listen to a couple of thier songs, but it wasn't quite my cup of tea. I'll stick with the oldies but goodies. What'd you listen to? Wilson's been around since the late 70's. He is oldies. xd You probably heard more of his recent stuff if you searched youtube, though. He's only gotten popular within the past decade now that he's been getting more metal-ish.

Yeah...If you like Rush, you'd probably prefer their older stuff. They've recently been getting more and more into metal.
I love it all, but I realize that others might not be into that kind of stuff.

Theres nothing wrong with a bit (or a lot) of metal. Some is pretty awsome. Are these guyz anything liek Metallica, System of a Down, or Tenacious D?
