Captain Sensible should totally be Prime Minister. Any of you lovely people living in Britain who want to join his party, it's here. The Blah! PartyPlus, anyone outside of it who just wants to send one hell of a message to Gordon Brown by supporting someone else... Knock yourself out. It'd make my brain smile. 4laugh

Dramatica Away II (the guild Captain) and I had a conversation once about how we wish they had the Blah! party over here in the US.
It would be better than the shite we got over here now, ("W" xp ) and this year is an election year.

I agree. The Captain would do a damn better job at looking after the US than Bush does.
Ohhh. I hate him. And I don't even live in America. domokun

Translation: Wash with warm water. Use mild soap. Dry flat. Do not use bleach. Do not dry in the dryer. Do not iron. We are sorry that our President is an idiot. We did not vote for him. I didn't believe that was real the first time I saw that. But it is. You see, no one would dare do that to the Captain. xD He's too cool. Uberly.

There's a lot of things that he can do that your President can't.
Then again, there's a lot of things that he can do that my Prime Minister can't.

gonk Nooo. Of course, I like The Captain but that doesn't mean I want him running the country (though I'm not saying that a stand up job's being done at the moment stare ).

Why not? He seems to have some good ideas there. He seems very passionate about what he's campaining for, too.

The-October-Girl Why not? He seems to have some good ideas there. He seems very passionate about what he's campaining for, too. 'Should seagulls be given contraception?' neutral - Surely there are more important issues. Oh he's got a political mind and I'm sure he's a dear man but really. I like the idea he's campaigning for his beliefs which aren't all 'out there' and questionable, it's just on the whole I'd rather he wasn't running the country (tbh, I don't think I have much to worry about lol). I feel like he'd do better with a pressure group rather than a party. Oh, and think of it this way. If The Capitain was busy governing and what not how would any time be left for touring?

Haha, yes, I do agree. Less touring = sadness.
Yet still, I think he'd do a better job than Brown. Perhaps I'm biased. But I've seen a lot of good stuff on there. Okay, the whole seagull contraception thing is a little... well, shall we say... irregular. And not so important or, indeed, sensible. But things about Iraq and things closer to home like bank charges and disabled parking spaces, I like them. I'm impressed with some of the past manifesto pages.
Plus, it would likely sever ties with the US. I'm not saying that political correspondence with them is a bad thing but I'm pretty sure we wouldn't have soldiers in Iraq if it wasn't for the love affair between the two governments.
Meh. Maybe I'm just desperate to see a party that's not Labour running the country. xD

Maybe I'm just desperate to see a party that's not Labour running the country. xD I think I'm gonna keep with my thoughts on the whole but you stick with your views there. It's good that you've got an opinion on these things smile . Of course I agree that the UK's the priority and therefore a bit of distancing from the US would probably be benefical (severing ties? Maybe a bit extreme?) but hey, new presidency and all that in the near future. Bush was kind of an extreme low point :-/ I doubt much worse could follow (hopefully much worse couldn't neutral ). -and I agree that Brown is fairly incompetent. And the Labour thing? I don't know. It seems like the major parties are becoming less strongly defined now anyway, y'know, moving towards a centre and all that, so I can't help thinking, how much of a change will the next elected government actually bring? As much as we expect(/possibly hope)? Hmmm... Oh well, I feel like I went off on one there, lol. smile

Oh, no. Going off on one is always good. Which I didn't particularly think you did. But anyway. It's interesting. And, yes, I agree, it's good to have your own views and to stick by them. If everyone thought the same thing then life would suck.
I think Bush was the lowest point in the whole of the Presidential history but, yeah, a new President might bring a new regime, something better. Personally, I'm backing Obama, even if I don't live there. He seems like a good candidate and I think it would be great to have the first black president in power.
The major parties may have pretty much the same ideas but they all have a different way of going about it. I think that it's that that makes all the difference when it comes to politics. After all, there's stuff that needs to be done but if you do it wrong then you've messed it all up. If you do it right then... everything's great. I think other parties could get it right.
