satchel had decided taking jade along wouldn't be as much trouble as taking kadin. he nodded an agreement annd mentally prepared himself for the long jump between worlds.

satchel noticed kadin sigh. he felt guilty about leaving, but there wasn't any use in staying until morning with jeslyn waiting. at least this way he could be helpful later.

he nearly jumped when kadin shot his hand out at satchel. he looked at the outstretched hand annd wondered if this was kadin's odd way of objecting.

"shake on it... shake that you'll be back." kadin declared.

satchel raised an eyebrow when he saw kadin's eyes watering...

"are you... crying?" he asked, barely holding back laughter.

kadin furiously shook his head before wiping them with the bandages on his arm.

"no! they're just watering (i don't know whats funnier, the fact that this is random or that only two of us will know why this is actually an inside joke hahaha)," he sniffled, which made him look as though he really were crying, "annd even if i were they'd be manly tears! (woah, kadin's got some issues... lolz) anyways, just shake on it!"

satchel couldn't deny a command like that. he took kadin's hand shake with a reassuring smile.

"i'll be back," then he turned to jade annd held out a hand to her, "so, are we off?"

after they left kadin sat on the ground annd continued to rub his watering eyes. after sufficiently rubbing his eyes raw he settled onto a cushion in the tent annd ignored appele's stare. he closed his eyes annd slept until whatever is in the next reply. (to put it bluntly...)

Kyle and Hazel both woke up simultaneously as soon as the shouting started. They looked at each other for a moment, Kyle staring up from the ground looking like he had been awake and ready to go for some time while Hazel was still too groggy to understand what was happening. All he remembered was that he shouldn't move.

Why Hazel was still struggling to understand what was going on, Kyle got up, stretched, and stepped into the main part of the tent to investigate the commotion. What he saw made him kind of nervous.

Lord Massi was standing in the middle of the room and looking angry enough to kill someone. At the entrance were Saber and Limon along with another werewolf and one of Massi’s personal guards. The werewolf was a female who looked younger than Limon did. She also looked like she was about to pass out from fright. Saber had moved slightly in front of her as if he were going to protect her from Massi. The guard, on the other hand, did not look frightened. He was accustomed to the Lord’s tactics, and he knew that he had done nothing to warrant his wrath.

“What’s going on?” Kyle asked from behind them.

Lord Massi did nothing to indicate that he had heard Kyle. Instead, he continued to shout at the four standing at the entrance.

“Stanson! Report the situation please. I can no longer trust anything these beasts say.”

“Well Sir, I was out doing my morning round of patrol through the camp. I thought I would go by the prisoners to see if they had been fed yet, and I caught the two of ‘em escaping from the cart. They had got through their chains somehow and were trying to get out of the cart when I came up on ‘em. I called for another two soldiers and we got ‘em back in a different cart with better chains and locks. It looks like they were using a file (excuse my generic-ness) to escape. One that we know they did not have before locking up. One o’ the other soldiers asked around about it and this girl claimed it as her own. Sir.”

“And you, girl, tell me how they came by your file,” the Lord barked at her.

“I-i-i don’t know,” she said almost too quietly to be audible.

Saber stepped in to defend her. “She doesn’t even have any business neat the carts. No one has ever seen her near them either.”

“And you checked on that did you?”

“Of course we did. Unlike you, we understand the responsibility of taking care of people. Maybe if you hadn’t been indulging yourself by taking advantage of the helpless all night you would have noticed what a terrible job your soldiers have been doing. We werewolves have been the ones running the camp and you had better get used to it. We will not become your cattle again!” Limon was the one to say this.

Lord Massi just stared at her like he was preparing to silence her permanently.

kadin had silently watched up until this point, but couldn't stand back any longer. two girls were being threatened (annd evrything seems like a threat to girls in his eyes in the first place, lol) annd he wasn't going to stand for it.

he quickly drew a glove over the bandages, ignoring the pain, annd stepped in between the two conflicting parties.

"that's enough! she said she doesnt know, so she doesn't know! leave it alone!"

Lord Massi raised his arm and made a sweeping gesture to the side. With raw power, he pushed Kadin to the side, out of his way. The deep sleep he was in earlier did more to restore his energy than one would think. Along with learning how to control his magic, Massi had developed techniques to store and replenish his energy. (okay that’s lame, but I need to move on)

“You would do well to remember who you are speaking to!”

“Oh I remember. I remember every cruel thing you’ve ever done to us. It’s time you owned up to it all.” Limon and Saber exchanged a long look. Before either of them could do anything, however, Massi strode forward, seized Limon, and dragged her outside the tent. The guard planted himself in front of the entrance, blocking anyone from leaving. By the time Saber had managed to get past him, Limon was already lying on the ground, lifeless. All the air had been squeezed from her lungs from the attack Massi had used so long ago against the original group (and man that was a long time ago too lol).

*and I shall end here for suspense…duh duh duuuh*
PostPosted: Sat Jan 26, 2008 9:16 pm

kadin darted out of the tent annd stared in disbelief. wasn't massi turned good now? he didn't care anymore. he clenched his good fist annd fit a small flame into it. if there was a fight going down he knew what side he was going to choose.

kadin wasn't sure of the other werewolves, so he turned to kyle, "whats going to happen?"

appele annd jeslyn, on the other hand, were not going to fight. appele had slipped outside as well, but he wasn't going to risk getting noticed for who he really was over these strangers. jeslyn stayed seated annd relaxed, unconcerned.

Kyle stood there in shock, not sure what had really just happened. He had noticed the look Saber and Limon had exchanged and there had been something funny about it. He couldn't figure out what it might mean though. He heard Kadin's question, but he didn't answer because he didn't know what came next. He kept going back to that look, trying to fathom what it could have signified.

While Kyle was thinking, Saber had drawn his sword and was preparing to take on Lord Massi. Emotionally, he wasn't upset that Limon had been killed. They had been friends for only a short time; their relationship had been based mostly on their mutual mission (wtf that doesnt make sense lol). Instead, he was angry that their plans had been ruined by the stupid human lord. Somehow he had understood what they were planning. And not only that, but he had known which one of them to go after. So Saber had decided to fight Massi to stall for time. He had told Melody (the girl from inside the tent who is Hazels age) about their plan, and now he was glad he had, although Limon had been upset when she had found out. Hopefully his fighting would stall long enough for Melody to set up the spell that Limon was supposed to have cast.

Before he could even begin his attack, however, something distracted him. Hazel had come outside and was looking around at the scene. Instead of overreacting like Kyle had thought he would, he had just asked what was going on. Lord Massi looked up when he came out, but he was unable to explain. Hazel reached out to the tent supports to steady himself (from shock or weariness? lol). When he did this, Kyle noticed a new cut on his arm, one that couldn't have been from the previous battle. Suddenly he realized what it all meant! Before he could say anything, though something happened.

Saber noticed how distracted Massi had become when Hazel had walked outside. He made a decision, and instead of going for Massi, who had his cut arm well protected, he decided to lunge for Hazel. He grabbed the younger boy by his arm at the cut (lol if that makes sense) and pulled him away from everyone else. They both landed inside the tent. Kyle realized what it meant before Massi did, and he rushed after them, but he was too late. Saber felt the rush of energy that meant Melody had implemented the spell correctly. Kyle watched in despair as Saber and Melody disappeared with Hazel. Massi entered the tent to find it empty (i forgot where your charas ended up lol), and felt enraged that those beasts had managed to get away with his treasure (lol).

appele growled at the spell. he was mad at himself for not sensing it until it was too late. he watched the woman stroll out of the tent, a displeased look on her face.

'you can telelport, can't you?' appele asked.

the woman ignored him annd continued walking. appele snapped at her ankle as she walked by. that got her attention. she didn't glare, but she looked as though she were lowering her standards to look at him.

'go after them! don't just stand there!'

she crossed her arms. "now why would i do that?"

'satchel is the only reason you can stay (i guess... lol) annd he would have gone after them without a second thought (annd magically knows where they went! : D),' when the woman continued walking away to find a more queit place appele turned to kadin, 'talk to her kadin! ... kadin?'

instead of sticking his nose in the middle of everything, as appele had expected, he actually looked defeated. he was sitting crossed legged beside the lifeless limon. he was quiet annd didn't even answer appele.

Massi took a moment to regroup after this setback. He had known the spell they were going to use, however, he hadn't realized that they had included Hazel in the link. He was cursing himself for not thinking about that possibility as soon as Limon had let on that she had known about their relationship (the relationship is totally in his head btw, Hazel is still clueless lol).

Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed Appele snapping at the strange woman. He turned around to see Kadin moping at the entrance near the spy. He sighed internally, knowing he would have to work with all these hapless peasants if he wanted to get Hazel back. Worst of all, he would have to work with those beasts (he is totally ignoring the fact that Hazel is one too). Well, it can't be helped, he thought to himself. Even though he had let those mongrels capture Hazel, he still had to be a leader. He also had to think about his original mission to deliver the werewolves to the destination. He wasn't going to do it anymore of course, but he didn't have forever to linger; he was already behind in the mission as it stood, and sooner or later someone would be coming to investigate why he had not yet made it.

He turned back towards the interior of the tent to see Kyle standing there, staring at him. There was a strange look in his eyes, too. It almost looked like he was blaming Massi for what had happened (which he is lol). Massi walked over to Kyle, ignoring the others for now.

"You. (He totally forgot his name) You knew what they were doing. Were you in on this plan?"

"Of course not!" Kyle was outraged to be accused of using his friend so terribly. "Maybe if you had cared about him as much as you think you do, you would have noticed (there are a lot of yous there) the new cut on his arm before Saber had a chance to take him. I've seen that spell before. You aren't the only one with special magic training you know. And I also know it was meant for you. How could you let this happen!?"

Massi was relieved to see that his plan to bait the man had worked. He had known from the beginning that Kyle was not part of the spy faction; Massi had had him studied closely, which was how he had noticed Hazel. It appeared that he had managed to read Kyle correctly after all, which was good for him. He needed to be able to understand how someone who was so close to Hazel thought, and he was a master at reading people after all; it was the reason he had gotten so far in the political. And speaking of politics...

"You are no stranger to politics." Kyle's face spasmed with surprise (if you can do that), and he hid it quickly, but not quickly enough. "Yes, I know all about you. Do you honestly think I would lead a troupe of," he had to pause to think of something that wouldn't be considered an insult, "of prisoners without knowing anything about why they were here? And we both know that people don't become werewolves by accident. The natural ones do not bite indiscriminately; we have had to be on careful watch for their attack (i keep talking about this possible attack...will it ever happen? lol) the entire time. I am also sure that you understand that the best attack on an individual comes indirectly.

"Now, you can either stay mad at me for something we both should have been able to prevent, or you can help me get Hazel back safely."

Kyle thought about what Massi had said for a moment. It stung him to learn that he had not been here undercover at all, but that they had known his plan the whole time. But what he said made sense, and Kyle did feel guilty for getting Hazel mixed up in this mess.

"Fine," he said, "I'll help, but only because I care about Hazel. If this were anyone else, I would say you can both rot."

Massi nodded in acceptance, then turned to deal with the others.

"You, over there. (Kadin) Don't mope over her; that woman was here as a political spy for some other human lord. She officially committed treason, and she has received her punishment for such an act. And if you want to help Hazel, you are going to have to cooperate with me. The only way to trace him is through this cut on my arm (thus thwarting your use Satchel to follow them idea lol)."
PostPosted: Wed Jan 30, 2008 3:32 am

appele continued to sit. he wasn't too sure if he wanted to get mixed up in this after all, but he knew satchel would. he mentally decided to risk sticking around for at least a little while longer, probably until hazel was saved. he turned to kadin to see his response.

kadin was standing annd with arms crossed, appele did not like the feeling coming from him.

"if we help then wyatt annd gretchen go free," kadin wasn't willing to actually glare at massi but he gave him a stern look (lmao), "i'm not going to leave them to a death dealer like you." (he takes death waaaay seriously, lol, even those of his enemies)

appele stared at massi. would he comply? *dundundunnnnn*

*annd there it is finally! ... annd yesh, i am writing this at 6 in the morning, for reasons of a dumbass roommate. explain later. happy bday!!*

*yay color to make it easier to tell the posts apart! lol*

Kyle watched Massi mull over the demand that Kadin had made. He was worried that the lord's pride would not let him accept it. Kyle tried to think of a way they could do this without Kadin's help (dont know why he is necessary lol), but he didnt think there was any way to get out of it.

"Alright fine. But i dont understand why you want them to go free so badly. They were trying to abduct your little friend. Speaking of which, where did he and that other girl wonder off to?" He gave Kadin an accusatory glare, fully expecting him to reply to the question.

Kyle was shocked when he acquiesced, but he guessed that Massi had come to the same conclusion as he had. Maybe he did care about Hazel...

Meanwhile, at an unknown location...

Hazel was sitting up against a wall in a small room. He was still really sore from his battle wounds, but he was healing well (he too has a knack for healing lol). One or two of his gashes had opened up when Saber grabbed him for the spell, however, and he was busy trying to get the bleeding to stop completely.

While he was doing this, Saber and Melody sat across from him, trying to talk to him. Saber was in teh middle of saying something when Hazel noticed.

"What? What are you talking about?" he asked, interrupting Saber.

Saber just sighed in frustration before going on.

"Well, I was just telling you about your Lord Massi. You see, right before you woke up, he killed on of your allies, the girl who was with me, Limon."

"Oh yeah. I know about that. I actually woke up when he started yelling. He's scary even when I'm asleep when he's angry (lol totally picturing tsuna calling hayato scary). Anyway, she did something bad right? Treason? So she deserved it (Hazel does not have the same view on killing as Kadin apparently lol)."

Saber (facepalmed) just stared at the younger boy for a moment. "Melody and I are part of the same group as Limon was," was all he said finally.

Hazel, who had started messing with teh bandages, looked up when he said that. "Oh. Well then. Why are you committing treason?" He was met with another blank stare.

This time, though, Melody spoke up. "Come on. Haven't you noticed that monster is leading us all to extermination? We have a plan to take care of him so he can never murder another innocent person again."

"By murdering him too? And what about me? Why couldnt you just go after him directly? Now, you're as bad as you're telling me he is." He was a little miffed at the lack of medical supplies, and he secretly felt that he was going to die because of it. Kyle had told him not to say (overly paranoid) things like that, but he decided to let these two know how he felt because he didnt think they had his best interests in mind.

Once again he received blank stares, but from both this time. The two of them got up and left him alone in teh room. Hazel sighed, believing they had left him to die alone. After a little while though, they came back with hot water and some fresh bandages, and his healer's case.

"Is that water clean?"

"Yes." Saber answered through clenched teeth, although Hazel didnt notice, or didnt care.

"You know, he's done a lot of other things, more terrible than killing one person. Did you know that? Do you even really know anything about Lord Massi? He has a whole past that I bet he never told you about. He had to be incredibly ruthless and inhuman to get where he is today in that world. He was going to let us all be slaughtered just because we are different. Is that really someone you want to protect?"

"First of all, why would he even tell me about any of that? Secondly, what do you want from me? You already have me here, although I don't know what good that could do. I don' see how you can use me to get at him."

"But don't you know? He's in love with you. And we thought that you could finish our plan for us. We know that you want freedom for all of us. You dont want to see us all murdered for no reason. I know you especially dont want anything like that to happen to your friend Kyle." (shes an expert manipulator lol) She got up and left him to think over that alone for awhile, Saber leaving with her.

Hazel did think about what she had revealed to him. He thought she was wrong about Lord Massi being in love with Hazel, although his behavior would make a little more sense if it were true. But still, he was a lord, and who knew why they behaved as they did (like they are totally different species lol). But besides all that, Kyle was the one in teh group to stop the terrible acts going on; they were going straight for the top however. He had to believe that Kyle's plan of going after the top of the government would work better than going after Massi alone. But then again, he really didnt know anything about the Lord. Maybe he shouldnt trust him so much.

Confused, Hazel drifted off into restless sleep.
PostPosted: Fri Feb 01, 2008 4:52 pm

kadin finally crossed into a glare. "my little friend is none of your business."

"oh come now, kadin," kadin looked over his shoulder when he heard the woman speak, "what would it hurt for massi to know they returned to satchel's homeworld?"

kadin wanted to be furious with her, even yell at her, but she was just so adorable... how could he bring himself to do that? he looked into her eyes, why did she seem so familar? she smiled, annd kadin immediatly thought of satchel... annd how she had blown his 'cover.' kadin shook his head to focus back on the situation but couldn't stop the blushing. (my boys blush alot, apparently lol)

"anyways, it doesn't matter. after those two are released i'm going to talk to them. where are they being kept now?"

*annd mine keep getting shorter, lol... but there it is!*

Massi sighed in frustration at Kadin's stubbornness. He beckoned the soldier (who is still in teh tent) over to him. He quietly gave the man orders to lead the annoying one to the prisoners' new cart, along with several other soldiers to make sure things did not get out of hand. He also told him to keep an eye on Kadin, just in case.

The soldier saluted and started to leave the tent.

"You may follow him," Massi told Kadin.

Massi had decided that there was nothing that could be done about the other ones' absence; he just let the subject drop, not saying anything about it. If he had sensed correctly, the golden-orange-head did not want that information shared. If he ignored that strange woman, he might be able to win a few points with him.

*****

"Do you think he'll do it?"

Melody looked at the door leading to Hazel's room before answering. "Yeah, I think he will. I don't think those appeals to emotion helped any, but I think that he is beginning to grow suspicious of Massi. He is a naturally paranoid person, and now that he knows there are things he doesn't know about the Lord, theres no way he will be able to trust him. All we have to do is tell him a few "concrete facts" of our choosing, and he will be happy to dispose of Massi."

"Good. Of course we are powerful enough to defeat Massi on out own, but with Hazel doing it, we already have a scapegoat for us." Saber smiled, thinking that their plan was a guaranteed success.
PostPosted: Mon Feb 04, 2008 7:54 pm

kadin wasn't glaring at massi anymore but still felt he was sternly staring. after the soldiers seemed ready to take him he decided to get appele.

"appele (redundant name calling? no way! lol), you are going to use a teleportation spell to get those two home."

appele raised his ears in question. 'why would i do that? i'm not going to-'

kadin wasted no time in throwing a small flame beside appele, making appele hop to the side.

"i don't want to hear it! you're going to do it, now let's go."

appele shook his head at the sudden display of force annd trotted to kadin's side.

'you didn't have to throw a flame too, you know.'

Massi watched the three of them leave the tent, satisfied that his man would make sure that little golden-orange haired one wouldn't cause any more trouble for now.

(Sudden change in point of view! *gasp*)

Kyle watched Massi as he (hahaha i totally started two sentence with the same verb) started tramping around the tent, apparently looking for something.

"What are you planning on doing to get Hazel back?" He had decided it would be a better idea than asking what the Lord was doing.

"I need to find my maps."

Kyle sighed at the terse reply. "What do you need maps for? You already have one of the (*goes to first post to see city's name lmaoz*) Kaaf-Oasis area. Why do you need other ones?"

"They didn't take him anywhere in Kaaf (*uses name again because I found it lol*), or else I would be able to sense it when i looked at the map."

Kyle quirked (i'm full of kewl wordz today razz ) his eyebrow in surprise, but immediately started scowling when Massi went on to explain the details of the spell as if Kyle didn't know. Kyle didn't know (redundancy!! lolz), of course, but Massi didn't necessarily know that. He didn't even look up before continuing.

"They linked both of us to the spell, so I can feel the power-anchor as well. Which means they messed up. They intended to take me in the first place, and Hazel is just a back-up plan. Now we have a chance to gain the upper hand, if i can ever find those blasted maps."

"Don't you remember where you put them? You seem so full of knowledge after all," Kyle said, only slightly bitterly.

"I didn't put them anywhere. The servants packed them up, of course."

"Oh, of course. The servants."

Massi looked up at Kyle's tone, but decided to ignore him and went back to searching his things.
