Seeing as I'm heading over to New York and Los Angeles this summer, (possibly Las Vegas too if there is time). I was wondering if anybody could recommend any great places to go and visit?

Wow, I'm an American, and I've, extremely sadly, not been to either. I've heard that LA isn't all it's cracked up to be...but NYC is amazing. Try going to a play on Broadway if you've the means. 3nodding Unless the Writer's Strike is still on...

I'm already planning to go to Broadway unfortunately there isn't any real lists up yet of what'll be on. The writers strike wont affect Broadway as the strike only stops people from writing new stuff anything that is written or in production is fine to carry on. Hmm slightly disconcerting about LA however I'm more than happy just to trail round the film studios. xp

 Well, I have lived in Southern California all my life...that is till now that I actually attend a University.
...I am not exactly FOND of LA, but there are still things to do there. The Getty Museum, and the Long Beach Aquarium are beautiful (any of the museums there are nice, the La Brea Tar Pits too...and their mostly empty wink ) , visiting any of the shops on Wilshire or any other street is really good...they always have interesting things. Little Tokyo (I recommend a mochi), Universal Studios Walk, Universal Studios itself, and the San Gabriel Mission. Oh! and if your hungry (which I hope you will be) have a burger at In n'Out. It is not your typical McDonald's burger, everything is more...natural. Other good restaurants are California Pizza Kitchen and PF. Changs (sic?) though these are a bit more expensive...

I second all praise of New York, but cannot do so for LA simply because I've never been. As for anything else...well...

I've been to LA. I was like seven though.
I am sure I would enjoy Universal Studios more if I went back today. That's probably my only recommendation
I don't remember much else,

I only went to Cali for two days, so I can't say much on that...
But I've been to Las Vegas so many times I'd rather stay home...
If you do go, walk the strip. And wear comfortable running shoes.
I'd recomend not going with Children, since the streets are crowded and some people are drunk. It can be very dangerous.
Last time I went, some drunk idiotic woman almost turned over a stroller w/ the baby inside of it...
She didn't even stop to try to help or to say sorry. I was pissed.

I have been to Las Vegas, and the strip is pretty much the only interesting thing...and for Los Angeles you could go to Disneyland/California Adventure if you really wanted to (i don't know much about LA)....and for New York, Lady Liberty, Broadway, Empire State Building, Manhatten Island...yeah. biggrin hope you have a good time!

I unfortunantly live in Vegas, and unless you're at least 21 years old, there's not much for you to do. Check out some of the Hotels on the Strip though, and try to see one of the shows. I prefer the smaller shows, that aren't advertised as much, mainly because they aren't full of people, and the performers seem to be better than those at the large shows...You also get better service when ordering drinks...

Hallo folks. I have just returned after nearly an entire day of flying, so I shall endeavor to plonk up some bits about the hols went a little later on after I've hunted down some food.
LaPrincesseLointaine I have to ask, how the hell do you cope with the heat in Vegas!?!?!?! One day we were there it was around 122 degrees. Normally on a super hot day in Britain it gets to the .... 70s...

Sunday: Spent the day on a Delta flight into JFK. Wasn't too bad a flight, little full but there was a ton of great movies and tv shows to choose from. After 12 or so hours finally got off the plane and took a cab of our hotel. It was wedged in between Central Park and the Directors Guild of America (Score!). Didn't really do much else seeing as it mid-evening by the time we were all settled and unpacked, went for a light meal then to bed.
Monday: Had breakfast out at a quaint little cafe on Broadway. Went up to the top of the Rockefeller Centre, talk about a view. After that we went for a bit of a wander round and saw various landmarks like Times Square, 5th Ave, Central Park, etc. After tea we hoped on the Nightime bus and went all around Manhattan and up to Brooklyn.
Tuesday: Statute of Liberty and Ellis Island in the morning. We then sort of ventured around a bit more before going seeing two Broadway shows. Mum and sister went to Xanadu, while me and dad went to see Spamalot. Have to say I have never ever been sat in a box laughing so much. The show is pure genius and does testament to the Pythons legacy.
Wednesday: Flew off to LA. Got there in the early afternoon. Hoped into the car and traveled of to the hotel in Anaheim.
Thursday: Went to Soak City near Knott's Berry Farm.
Friday: Went on a VIP tour round Warner Brothers Studios. Brilliant, brilliant day.
Saturday: Traveled off to Vegas. Stayed at the Venetian. Had a wander, mainly towards the Luxor, Mirage, Excalibur. Went to a screening at the MGM of a new show called 13 - Fear. Was so so so awful. Think reality survivor-type show meets Hammer Horror. It just went too far.
Sunday: Looked round some more casinos and bits. Have to say, they all look the same to me.
Monday: Traveled back to LA. Car journeys like that are a bit boring. Stopped off at Victorsville to do a bit of shopping when we had an earthquake.
Tuesday: More shopping coupled with a lazy day round the hotel, everyone but me seemed to be shattered.
Wednesday: Went up to Malibu, Santa Monica, etc. Have to say apart from the traffic it's a pretty nice place.
Thursday: Zipped off to see the Mann's Chinese theatre, Kodak theatre, etc.
Friday: Another lazy day. We were meant to go to San Diego but my sister had been somewhat ill (flying doesn't agree with her) so we decided to give it a miss.
Saturday: Yet another lazy day coupled with packing.
Sunday: Came home. Awful awful awful flights. Over 14 hours flying (with little/no movies) and 6 odd hours in various airports, bored me silly.
