Hoshi Maban

Tralalalalalalalalalalalalalalala

As Hoshi stepped into New Bark Town, she breathed in the fresh air. She stretched her arms above her head. The trip had been a long one. The S.S. Anne had made a special stop to drop her off her. They weren't doing her a favor. No, they only did this because of her father. A chattering sound attracted her attention to the ground.

Sitting by her foot was a pink Aipom. Her pokemon and friend-Coral. The monkey pokemon climb up Hoshi and sat on her shoulder. Coral began messing with her trainer's scarf. "Stop that," she said a tiny bit annoyed, swatting lightly at Coral's hands. On the other side, Hoshi felt something pulling her hair. With a quick glance, she saw the culprit was Coral's tail. "Enough," she said firmly. After a small sigh, her expression lightened as she looked at her pokemon. But it only lasted for a second. "Now, where was it that we had to go? Ah, that's right Professor Elm's."

Hoshi looked around her. She wasn't sure which one was the professor's lab but she decided that the one on the west side of town was it and began heading to it. It was the only one that looked remotely similar to what she thought a lab should look like.

Natalie “Nat” Benoit

User Image
Natalie stood at the front of the ship headed for the Johto region, the wind whipping back through her hair. Her eyes closed slightly as some sea water lightly splashed into her features, bringing a smile to her face. While she was already starting to miss home a little but, there was something about the adventure ahead that called her. Here, in Johto, she would be able to learn more about pokemon and eventually become a pokemon ranger liker her parents. Her thoughts were already turning to what kind of pokemon she was going to get from Professor Elm, a man she had heard her parents speak to on the videophone anytime they came across something peculiar with the pokemon in their section of the Safari Zone. When he agreed to start Nat on a journey of her own, the redhead instantly liked him more.

"We'll be docking in the next few minutes. All passengers should prepare to depart."

Tossing her windswept hair over her shoulders, Natalie reluctantly broke herself away from the sea breeze, land becoming visible in the distance as they approached. Her heart was beating a little faster, a little more bounce in her step as she grabbed her backpack from the lounge chair she had been sitting in previously as she made her way to the departure deck. When they pulled into port, she wanted to be the first one off.

As promised, the ship taxied into the port, tying off and lowering the gangway. Without a moment's hesitation the redhead was practically sprinting down it, rummaging around in her bag for the paper that had directions to Professor Elm's laboratory. Her parents always made sure that she was prepared, and she didn't want to waste any time in getting her first pokemon. As she started making her way through the streets, she saw a girl with purple hair traveling with a pink Aipom. Her eyes instantly lit up as she sprinted to catch up with her.

"Excuse me! Is that your Aipom? It's so cute! What a beautiful coat it has."

Hoshi Maban

Hoshi looked at the redhead who approached her. Hoshi's face had its usual scowl plastered all over it. She wasn't mad, or even irritated. Her face just naturally took on that expression. Carol pinched her trainer's cheeks and pulled them from her face. "Stob dat," she uttered, brushing her Aipom's hands off of her face. "Yeah, this trouble maker is mine."

Coral jumped from her trainer's shoulder-untying Hoshi's scarf with her tail-and landed on the new girl's shoulder. The Aipom tied her trainer's scarf around her own neck. She chittered something to the redhead that almost sounded like a laugh-pointing at Hoshi.

"Haha, very funny Coral," Hoshi said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. She held out her hand to Coral. The Aipom untied the scarf and deposited it in her trainer's hand-all done with her tail. "Thank you." As she retied her scarf she said to the redhead, "Don't flatter her too much or she'll get full of herself."

Natalie “Nat” Benoit

Natalie's step faltered slightly as she saw the scowl on the girl's face when she approached, her own expression cracking into a slightly uncomfortable smile. However, the antics of the pink Aipom on the girl's shoulders was enough to make her laugh slightly, her hands making their way to her hips.

"That's so cool that you have a pokemon! Not to mention one as cool as this," she said with a laugh tossing her low ponytail over her shoulder when the pokemon tied her trainer's scarf around Nat's neck. The trainer's sarcastic remark was enough for the pokemon to correct her little prank, Natalie running her fingers through her blonde bangs in an attempt to get them out of her eyes -- as always, it was a lost cause.

"So, what brings you to Johto? I'm here to get my first pokemon from Professor Elm," she explained, her eyes continually moving to the pokemon on the other girl's person. She hoped that whatever pokemon the Professor had in store for her would be as cool, no cooler, than the pokemon in her presence now. Knowing her parents, they had already spoken to Professor Elm regarding the perfect pokemon for her, and it was waiting just across town at the laboratory.

Hoshi Maban

Hoshi smiled at the girl's compliment of Coral. It was a sweet and gentle one that rarely anyone saw. A second later, her normal expression took over. "I'm here to see Professor Elm. Not get my pokemon, obviously but to get a pokedex, I think." She shrugged her shoulders as she finished but then added, "I'm only stopping cause my mom thought it would be a good idea before I started traveling Johto."

Hoshi started to continue walking but stopped, "My name is Hoshi Maban. I'm aiming to be the best normal type trainer. You?"

Coral, bored with the conversation jumped to the ground and raced off toward Elm's lab. The Aipom stopped and looked back at the two human girls, beckoning them to come with her tail. A small sigh escaped Hoshi before saying, "Shall we follow her?"

When the girl smiled, it caused Natalie to visibly relax. However, as quickly as the sweet look left the girl's expression, Natalie once more felt slightly awkward again. She was having a hard time telling if the girl just had a serious expression, or if she was annoyed with Natalie's presence. However, as she said that she was also heading to Professor Elm's, Nat gave a bright smile, placing one hand on her hip.

"Well, isn't that a coincidence! It sounds like your parents know a lot about pokemon. Having a pokedex is sure going to make things easier," she said with a smile, watching as the girl turned and started to walk away. However, before she got too far away, the girl turned around, introducing herself as Hoshi. Natalie stepped forward with a friendly smile, extending her hand as her parents always taught her to do when she met new people.

"I'm Natalie Benoit, from Fuchsia City. You can call me Nat if you want to. I want to be a pokemon ranger someday," she said with a soft chuckle, watching as the pink Aipom decided to wander off on her own. Before the pokemon got too far away, like her trainer, she turned and beckoned them with a wave of it's tail. It seemed that Hoshi was used to this kind of thing as she released a sigh, asking if she wanted to go with the two of them to the lab.

"Sure! Since we're all going to the same place, we might as well go together," she said with a nod, falling into step with her new acquaintance and her pokemon as they headed towards the location of Elm's lab. What a coincidence that she would run into a trainer also starting her Johto journey just minutes after embarking on her own!

"So how long have you and your Aipom been together? And is it just too amazing to have a pokemon of your own? Why did you choose normal type pokemon? I'm sorry, I'm asking too many questions, aren't I," she said with a laugh as she walked with Hoshi, flashing her an apologetic smile. It was clear that she was too excited to be getting her own pokemon within the next few minutes, her speech rambling on a mile a minute.

Hoshi Maban

Hoshi started visibly when the girl offered her hand. She shook it slowly. It had been a while since anyone had been this friendly with her. "They know a thing or two, that's it. It's nice to meet you Nat. Fuchsia you say? I'm from Vermilion."

As they walked, Nat bombarded Hoshi with questions. She remembered how she was when she received Coral. "About five years. My mom thought she'd be a positive influence on me, right," she asked her Aipom for confirmation. Coral looked back at the two again, flicked her tail and carried on. Hoshi rolled her eyes at the show her pokemon was putting on. "Well, I guess because everyone seems to underestimate them. Plus, my dad is a fighting type nut and I want to prove that my pokemon can take him down. And you're fine. I'm just not used to answering questions is all. Why do you want to be a pokemon ranger?"

Coral was waiting at the door for the two. She begun hanging off of things. The doorhandle, the mailbox, a loose shingle. Hoshi's heart skipped a beat in panic. Without thinking, she sprinted to her pokemon. Coral launched herself into her trainer's arms and voiced happy comments.

┏━━━━━━━━━━━━ ━━━━━━━━━━━━┓

Glynnis leaned against the guard rail of the boat as it made it's way towards the small shore at New Bark Town. The wind from the boat tossed her long, blonde hair all about, tangling the loose ends that hung in a ponytail. Although it was summer, the breeze out at sea was cool, and Glynnis wrapped her arms around her in order to keep warm. As she stared out the boat at the little town that was slowly coming into view, there was a far-off look in her blue-gray eyes.

It had been a long journey for her, so far. She'd come all the way from Pyrite Town, in the Orre region. And even though Johto was the closest region to her own, it was still a long way. She had to travel all the way to Gateon Port, board a ship, travel three days to the port in Olivine City, and then take another boat to New Bark Town. But it would all be worth it in the end, she told herself. She didn't feel the slightest pang of homesickness. Any place was better than her hometown. It was an old mining town, and it wasn't the least bit lush, green, or glamorous. It was full of a lot of bad characters, too. Her parents never really cared for her like parents should, and the only person she was ever close to - her older brother - had gotten a great job opportunity in Gateon and split without a second thought. She held no ill feelings toward him, however, as she would have done the same if it were her. That, and he was the one who had helped her get to where she was now. He'd written her about how kids in other regions go off on Pokemon journeys and how there was a Professor in New Bark Town who could help her out. Glynnis had always dreamed of being a Pokemon trainer, but it just wasn't realistic in the Orre region. There were barely any trainers there anymore, and the region wasn't full of wild Pokemon as others were. But her brother had gotten her a ticket for a ship headed out to Olivine and gave her some money as well to get herself started. So, for that she was eternally grateful.

The boat docked on the shore of New Bark Town, and Glynnis grabbed her things. She didn't have many belongings in the first place. She had with her just a messenger bag for any items she'd need as a trainer, and a backpack with clothes and other essentials. As she made her way off the shore and into the town, she took in her surroundings. It was such a beautiful place - the kind of place in which she'd only dreamed of growing up. It was a small, homely town, with grass, trees, and flowers all around. There were cute little homes with mailboxes and picket fences. It looked like a place out of a magazine. As she looked around, Glynnis felt a twinge of jealousy towards the people who were lucky enough to live in a wonderful place such as this.

Glynnis didn't really know where anything was in this town, but she followed a dirt path anyway, hoping it would lead her to where she needed to go. She knew Prof. Elm lived in a laboratory, so she assumed she was looking for someplace big. It shouldn't be too hard, in a small town like this. Unless, of course, it was hidden away somewhere. After walking for a while, she realized she should probably stop and at least ask somebody. When she would pass by some people on her way, she'd politely ask if they could point her in the right direction. With their help, it didn't take that long to find Prof. Elm's place. It was a good thing she had asked for directions, too, because the lab didn't look like any lab she had ever seen. Instead, it was just like a big house with a staircase along the side that led to the upstairs part. Taking a deep breath, she opened the door and went inside.

Glynnis was surprised at what she found. The outside of the building was definitely deceiving. Inside, it most certainly looked like a laboratory. There were bookshelves and high tech equipment, men in white lab coats and everything! No one confronted her as she made her way deeper inside. Past a bunch bookshelves, there was another man in a white lab coat and glasses. He was tall and lanky, and overall pretty geeky-looking. He was older, but he wasn't old by any means. Glynnis approached him and tapped him on the shoulder.

"Excuse me? Could you tell me where I might find Professor Elm?" she asked him. The man turned around, looked at her and smiled.

"Well, that'd be me. What can I do for you?" he replied. Glynnis was quiet for a moment; she didn't expect this man to be the great Professor Elm. But what did she really know anyway? Composing herself, she continued.

"Oh, um, well...my name is Glynnis Bellum. I came all the way from the Orre region. I'd heard that some people come here to become Pokemon trainers and start their Pokemon journeys. I want to be a trainer too, and I was hoping that maybe you could help me?" She said hesitantly. She was a little nervous now. What if he turned her away? What if she was forced to go back home? She didn't think she could stand it. But her nerves began to dissipate when Prof. Elm smiled again.

"Well, you heard correct my dear," he said. "Lots of people who want to be trainers in this region will come here to see me. I prefer it, in fact. You see, when people come through me to become trainers, they help me out with my research on Pokemon. It's very useful. And since no one can keep more than six Pokemon with them at a time, I tend to any of their other Pokemon they might catch." Glynnis nodded and listened as Prof. Elm continued his explanation. It was all very informative, as she really didn't know a lot of the basics about being a trainer. But afterwards, she felt much more confident.

"If you want to be a trainer, you're going to need to carry this around with you," Prof. Elm said as he showed her a small, plastic card. "It's a trainer card. It's what lets people know that you're a Pokemon trainer. It has your name and picture on it. Come with me, and I'll get you one of your own." Prof. Elm took her over to his computer. He filled in some information, took her picture, and printed out the card. Glynnis took the card and looked it over once before placing it in her skirt pocket. She then followed the Professor over to a table with poke balls on it.

"To be a trainer, it's also good for you to receive a Pokemon to help you get started on your journey. There are some people who go out and catch Pokemon on their own without a starter Pokemon, but it's very difficult to do. I have some Pokemon here that I will let you keep as your own. It will become your partner, so make sure you treat it well." Glynnis was surprised by the Professor's generosity. He was going to give her a Pokemon?

"Oh, really Professor? You'd do that? Thank you so much!" she exclaimed. Prof. Elm just smiled and adjusted his glasses.

"Of course, it's no problem at all. I can tell you have what it takes to be a great Pokemon trainer." Prof. Elm picked up each ball on the table and released the Pokemon inside. There was a Bulbasaur, a Squirtle, and a Charmander.

"My friend, Prof. Oak lent these to me to give to some new trainers. Which one would you like to be your new Pokemon?" Glynnis looked them all over. She didn't really know which one would make a good first Pokemon. They all looked so unique and strong. Bulbasaur looked really calm, and well-together; it would be easy to train, most probably. Squirtle was a very happy-looking Pokemon - bubbly and eager. Charmander, however, didn't look as easy-to-train, or as happy to be there. It almost looked stuck-up and hard-to-please. But there was something about it, something that drew Glynnis to it. It would be a challenge, but worth it - she could tell. Charmander seemed almost like herself, somehow. And through it all, maybe they could even develop a strong bond?

"This one," Glynnis said, pointing to Charmander. "This is the one. I know it."

Prof. Elm smiled, knowingly. She would make a good trainer indeed. "Excellent choice. Would you like to name her? Many trainers nickname their Pokemon in order to form stronger bonds with them."

Glynnis thought it over. "Sure. I'll name her Charla." Prof. Elm handed her Charla's poke ball, then went over to his desk to retrieve something. He returned with a pink-and-white electronic device and another, red device. He handed her the red one first.

"This is a Pokedex. It records any Pokemon you come across on your journey. It can tell you important information about them. It also records how many Pokemon you capture on your journey. Try to fill up your Pokedex as much as possible." Glynnis took the Pokedex and tucked it away in a pocket in her messenger bag.

Prof. Elm held up the pink-and-white device. "This is a PokeGear. It's has a portable phone device in it, so you can register phone numbers and call people with it. My phone number is already registered in it. So give me a call if you have any questions." He handed the PokeGear over to her as well, and she placed it in her bag.

"Just one more thing, now." Prof. Elm called over another man in a lab coat - probably an aide. "This is my aide, Scott. He has some handy items you can use on your journey. Follow him and he'll give them to you. Then you can be on your way. I wish you the best of luck, Glynnis."

Glynnis thanked the professor for everything and followed Scott. He handed her a couple of potions and empty poke balls to help her get started on her journey. After a brief explanation on how to use them, Glynnis exited the lab with Charla. She looked down at her new Pokemon, then bent to Charla's level.

"Well," she said, "Looks like we're on our own now. It'll be hard, but we're gonna be the best. So we've got a lot of work to do." Charla didn't make much of a reaction and, instead, just looked back at her. Glynnis stood up again and turned her direction to the path on her left. Prof. Elm's aide said that path would lead her to Route 29, the direction she wanted to go. It would lead her to a place called Cherrygrove City and that there would be Pokemon to encounter along the way.

Natalie “Nat” Benoit

User Image
Natalie listened with visible interest as her new friend explained how long she and her pokemon had been together. Nat would have given anything to have a pokemon of her own, but while she was working with her parents at the Safari Zone there were just too many to take care of as it was. As much as she would miss her old life, she was hoping that this journey would be the start of something new, where she could finally put all the things she had learned to practice. What really interested her was Hoshi's explanation of why she wanted to be a normal type trainer. It made sense -- out of rivalry was often born the strongest motivation. It was a saying her parents always told her when she was having problems with the other kids in town. However, the conversion turned to why she wanted to be a Pokemon ranger.

"Well, interestingly enough, my parents are pokemon rangers, working in the Safari Zone. I've been around pokemon my whole life, leaning how to take care of them and keep the Safari Zone free from poachers, but my parents always kept our family so busy that I never got to get a pokemon for myself. I guess I want to follow in their footsteps," she said with a slight laugh, wishing that she had a cooler story to share than just wanting to do what her folks did. After all, she didn't even have a specialization in the types of pokemon that she wanted to train with -- man, Nat was starting to think that she was unprepared for this journey.

Two two girls continued through the streets of New Bark Town, chatting idly before Aipom broke away from the ground, beginning to hang from the outside of a rather impressive looking building. Hoshi was quick to take off after her pokemon, Natalie quickening her pace so she didn't fall too far behind. She recognized this building from a picture her parents had with Professor Elm. They were here. It was time for her to get her first pokemon.

Brushing he bangs out of her face in another futile attempt to make some sense of her hair, she smiled at Hoshi as a look of determination settled over her features before she stepped forward, pushing the door to the door open and heading inside. There were books and mechanical equipment all over, research assistants running experiments and putting together research reports. One of them looked up from his work when she walked in, standing as she gave him a faint smile.

"Ah, I'd know that hair anywhere. You're Clara's girl," he said with a friendly smile, moving forwards and extending a hand to her. She shook it quickly, looking around the lab for one person in particular.

"Yea, that'd be me! Where's Professor Elm? He should be expecting me," she said with a soft chuckle, glancing over her shoulder slightly to make sure that Hoshi came in as well. The last thing she wanted to do was leave her new friend behind in her anticipation of getting her new pokemon. Without missing a beat, one of the other research assistants disappeared into the back, the sounds of a conversation softly heard over the machinery. Moments later, Professor Elm made an appearance, adjusting his glasses as he made his way over to her.

"It's good to see you in person Natalie. Your parents told me you'd be arriving today. Are you excited to be starting your very own journey?"

"You bet, Sir! I'm so ready to get on the road. Did mom and dad happen to suggest any pokemon for me since I left?" The excitement in her voice could no longer be contained as she was practically bouncing on her heels, arms wrapped around her form as she tried to contain herself. Professor Elm, seeming to pick up on her impatience, simply smiled, beckoning her further into the lab. Obediently, she followed, jogging a bit until she fell into step next to him as he made his way towards the back garden. As they walked, he handed her a small laminated card with her picture on it, Nat taking it and looking at it carefully. She already knew it was her Trainer Card, a soft squeak of excitement escaping her as the pair emerged into the sunshine. Several pokemon frolicked around with each other, all stopping to look at her and the Professor.

"As I'm sure you know, a pokemon is a lot of responsibility, so you have to make sure that you're ready for the challenge. Picking your first partner is really important, so make sure you pick one carefully," he said as he stuck his hands into the pockets of his lab coat. With a small gesture of his head, he motioned for her to move forwards, the redhead taking a deep breath as she made her way into the garden a little more. She didn't know that there were going to be so many to choose from - this was going to be tough.

However, before she could get too far, she saw a blue blur out of the corner of her eye, feeling something hit her hard in the chest. She was knocked back onto her rump, letting out a soft exclamation of surprise as she heard Professor Elm laugh slightly. When she opened her eyes, she saw a Phanpy in her arms, looking up at her and gently poking the end of her nose with her trunk. It's coloring was different from the Phanpy she had seen before, the redhead standing and cradling the pokemon gently in her arms.

"Well, that was pretty abrupt. But you certainly are cute…would you care to join me," she asked the long nose pokemon let out an excited cry, nuzzling her arm with its head. Smiling, she turned to Professor Elm, holding her new pokemon close to her chest.

"Looks like I choose Phanpy," she said with an excited smile, Professor Elm smiling and closing the distance between them once more. Pulling his hand from his pocket, he held a Pokedex and PokeNav in his hands, extending them towards the new trainer. Gently, she set Phanpy on the ground, the pokemon running in circles around her feet as she accepted the new equipment from the Professor.

"I think phanpy is an excellent choice! It's clear that she already has strong feelings towards you. Now, I have a few more things for you before you start out on your own. First, is the Pokedex. As a pokemon ranger, it'll be important for you to know about the different types of pokemon and their information. This device holds all the information I've collected on the pokemon of Johto, so it will certainly come in handy. That second device is a PokeNav, which can be used to keep in touch with people around the region. It also acts like a navigation system, so you shouldn't get lost if you use it well."

Natalie placed her new treasures gently in her bag where she would be able to find them easily. She looked down at her new partner, the Phanpy still running around her feet with happy cries and excited leaps. The redhead could not help but laugh as the Professor motioned for her to follow him back inside, quickly moving forward to oblige him.

"I have to meet with that girl that came in just behind you, but speak to my assistant Scott on your way out. He'll fill you in on any other questions you might have. My number is also programmed into your PokeNav already as well, so if you need anything, you can call me at any time" Natalie nodded enthusiastically as they came back into the lab, tossing her bangs out of her face as she almost tripped over Phanpy in a particularly excited lap around her trainer's boots.

"I'll do that Professor. Thank you so much, seriously! I know you'll take care of Hoshi too," she said with a smile, giving a large wave before jogging off, her new pokemon in tow. Coming to a stop in front of Hoshi, she smiled, excitedly bouncing on her heels a few times. She motioned for the girl to go ahead, turning her sights on the research assistant that greeted her before.

"Well Natalie, I see you chose your Pokemon. That phanpy is quite the excited one, so I think you guys will do really well together. I think the only other thing I have to give you is these pokeballs, which makes taking your pokemon around with easier. Here's 5 of them, and one for your Phanpy, so make sure to use them wisely. Oh, and take a few potions too."

Natalie graciously accepted all he gave to her, placing them in her bag carefully so she would be able to find them later. Thanking Scott once more, Phanpy ran into the back of her leg in her excitement, the redhead almost falling backwards before she was able to catch herself. Straightening up, she stooped and scooped her new pokemon into her arms, coddling her gently.

"You need to calm down," she said with a soft laugh, taking her place to the side slightly so she could wait for Hoshi. The least she could do is make sure that she got everything she needed, and maybe the two of them could grab some food before heading on their own journeys.

Hoshi Maban

Hoshi watched Nat as she talked about why she wanted to be a ranger. To be like her parents. That was cool in itself. Hoshi did not want to be like either of her parents. Heck, she didn't even get along with her father. To do what ones parents did must mean you respected them a lot. "I think that's awesome. Protecting pokemon. You're parents must be awesome."

Hoshi followed Nat into the lab-softly scolding Coral. She decided to stay inside to let Nat get her pokemon without problems. "I wonder what pokemon she'll get." Her Aipom replied with some random noises. "So you think she'll get one that suits her too."

As Nat came in with the Professor, Hoshi noticed a different colored phanpy following her. It was a nice choice and it seemed quite fond of Nat. "Now you don't be a bad influence on her pokemon," Hoshi whispered the warning to her Aipom that had started to chitter with excitement.

She nodded to the girl as Nat stopped in front of Hoshi and motioned for her to go to the professor. As Hoshi approached the man she tooked several deep breaths, preparing herself. Coral climbed onto her shoulders. Most people she meet tended to say she had a scary or unpleasant expression.

"You're Hoshi Maban right? You look just like your mother described," Professor Elm said as she approached. That wasn't good. Her mother tended to describe unnecessary parts about her and it was her descriptions that put most people off before they even met her.

Numbly, she nodded her head. She felt Coral pat the back of her head in comfort. "As you probably already know, I am Professor Elm. I have a few things for you."

He turned from Hoshi for a few seconds. He retrieved something from his desk and turned back. He handed over a pokedex to her. "Here is a pokedex. It is a pokemon encyclopedia. It helps trainers learn about all different types of pokemon."

He then handed Hoshi another item. It looked strikingly familiar. Her face pales as she realized what it was. "This arrived by messenger pidgey this morning. It's your pokegear. Your mother sent it. Seems like you forgot it at home. I already programed my number into it."

A blush crept onto her cheeks as she looked away and scowled. Aipom was laughing on her trainer's shoulder. She spun and her heel and began for the door only to be stopped by the assistant that had been talking to Nat. "I also have some pokeballs and potions for you," he said stuffing them into her hands.

Hoshi hands were full of things now. A potion slipped from her hands but her Aipom caught it before it hit the floor. Coral then took all the things from her trainer and put them into her bag. "Thanks," she mumbled to the man and her pokemon.

Hoshi turned to Natalie and said "We should get going." She was meaning for the two trainers and their pokemon but realized neither asked the other to travel together. She thought for a second on it. It seemed pointless to ask now.

"Before you go," Professor Elm's voice cut across the room. He approached the two trainers. "I have a friend who lives on route 30. His name is Mr. Pokemon. If you both would visit him, I would be happy. He tends to give things to trainers."

Hoshi nodded to the professor and headed out of his lab.

can you feel the ground when your head's in the cloudsxxxxxx♥ ♥ xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Ugh, I seriously do not want to visit peppy Aunt Chryssie. A brown haired girl who just got out of school for the summer muttered to herself. She sighed loudly and blew her bangs up in boredom. It was late afternoon, and it was still as light as it was this morning. The girl shouldered her messenger bag with all her favorite pins, and started the walk home. Gladly the thought of why she was going there didn’t appear in her head, because she probably would have stopped to momentarily become depressed. But Blair wasn’t one to ever dwell on the past. A boy passed her on the street and he looked back briefly and spun on his heels to face Blair. ”Dude, I am TOTALLY going to miss you over break.” He said, hugging her in the process. ”Yuck, Jack.” She pushed him away and mock acted disgusted. They both laughed and Blair pulled him into another hug and sighed heavily. ”Chances are I can’t come back.” Jack frowned. ”But you’re my best friend. You can’t leave forever.” He crossed his arms. ”I know, you think I want to leave? I can’t keep living with Anne’s family, you know.” She pouted, and Jack sighed. ”If you don’t come back by next summer I’m either going to kill you or come and get you. I’d prefer the latter, actually.” They said their good-byes and Blair was on her way to New Bark Town, Johto.

As Blair landed on the ground she saw how small the town was, and frowned about the difference. She preferred Hearthome to this. A strong breeze blew her hair and her scarf, and she tightened the grip on her bag and small suitcase. She would be staying here for the whole summer. A huge gust of wind and her transportation was gone. It blew her headband and her scarf off. ”Dang Aerodactyl.” She picked them up off the ground and put them back on, and instinctively looked for a mirror. This big city girl was used to everything she needed everywhere. And if it wasn’t you could just buy it. A frown grew on her face as she realized she knew less and less where she was. Last time she was here, the buildings seemed more… flat, and bulky. Now they were just fat. She shrugged, walked on, and hoped she would find her Aunt.

She came to a nice neighborhood, one of the nicer ones, she had to admit. She peeked in windows, looked at the mailbox labels, and slyly spied on the town for a good half an hour looking for her relative. She didn’t have any note or anything that proved that Chryssie actually lived here. She just heard her say very quickly on the PC a couple of nights before, ‘New Bark Town.’ She got to a house soon after that had a scratched mailbox tag, so Blair couldn’t tell exactly what the name was. She swore she could make out, ‘Chrysan-‘ on the mailbox but no one could be sure. With all her concentration towards deciphering the mailbox, a tap on the shoulder sent her off the wall. She spun around and was going to scold whoever did that to her, but it was her aunt. ”Um, hi! Chryssie said with a weak smile. ”I didn’t mean to scare you there, but you were late so I just decided to go for a walk and hopefully run into you. Oh, and this isn’t my house.” She laughed heartily and held the shoulder of the short Blair Pheonix. ”How about we get to my house and we can have a nice snack and talk about the future?” Blair groaned and reluctantly followed her aunt to her house, which ended up being on the other side of town.

”You’re HOME!” Chryssie opened the door and yelled inside. A Houndour came running towards her, and once it got ever there, started jumping on everyone and licking everyone it would find. Blair thought it was pretty disgusting, because it was extremely warm. Like fire. But still, it was gross. Blair pushed her way through the slobber and waited for her aunt to follow. ”If Pokemon don’t interrupt anymore, I can show you your room.” Blair breathed a sigh of relief. Finally, privacy. She nodded as Chryssie beckoned her to come and follow. A few moments later she was pushed in a room. It was quaint, simple, and the right size for anyone. It had a bathroom next to the doorway. This is nice…. Blair thought to herself.

”Now, for the part I wanted to do. Are you going on a Pokemon journey?” Chryssie asked, with a slight edge on her voice. Then she sighed. ”Well, since I am your guardian now, I guess I can tell you what to do…? Blair, you are going on a Pokemon journey. I’ve always wanted to as a kid, but I never got to. Now I’m making you go because I want you to experience new things.” She lovingly put a shoulder on her and raised her eyebrows. Blair thought a little. She didn’t have anything to do over the summer, and if she made it far enough in her journey, she would be able to go back to Hearthome. ”Yeah, sure. I’ll do it.” She shrugged and smiled. ”Well, that was way easier than I thought. Haha, well thank you for making that very painless. Now, I gave you a Pokemon to do this, so take care of it.” She held out a Pokeball, and Blair took it, along with her bag. ”Thank you! Well, I’ll be seeing you, right?” She got up and left, and her aunt followed her quickly. ”Um, well bye! Don’t forget to go to Elm’s lab first. He’ll tell you what to do after that.” She waved, and the quick departure was done.

Outside, Blair held the Pokeball. It didn’t really occur to her to see what was in it, so it remained in the Pokeball. After a while, she found the lab. By this point, Blair really needed someone to talk to. Living in Hearthome, wherever she went there was someone that wanted to talk to you. She frowned when she didn’t see anyone who she wanted to talk to. There were old ladies with windbreakers by the small expanse of sea. She groaned, and just made her way to the lab. Her social bar would just have to stay orange-red for a while. (Sims reference! xD) She searched around for a door or a sign or SOMETHING to tell her where Prof. Elm or someone was.

┏━━━━━━━━ ━━━━━━━━┓

Micah made his way out of the ocean from his swim from his Hometown. Micah was one of those guys you'd see out there . . . you know . . . in the middle of the ocean. Just swimmin' away. He'd spent his life doing such as a boy, him and his Remoraid. And despite it being a ways away, Micah decided he'd take a journey. First stop, Johto. Johto had quite a deal of good swimmin' spots that Micah wanted to try out, and climbing out of the bay, he took out a small red and white ball and held it to the water. "C'mon, Tako. Back in the ball." he said with a smile, anticipating the small fish's next move. And sure enough, as soon as the thought had even crossed his mind, the Remoraid leaped from the water into the air as a red beam of light shot forth at the small creature and pulled it back into it's respective Pokeball. With a yawn, Micah shook the water from his semi water-resistant clothes and began to look around. It appeared that a fairly large gathering of people were here. He figured they'd be here a while longer, right now, he really wanted to fish. So, taking out his Good Rod, which he'd brought from home, a sort of present from his friends back there, he began to fish, occasionally looking behind him to see if anyone was paying him any mind, as he still needed to visit a certain someone . . . at least that's what the folks back home said to do. Micah didn't exactly remember the man's name right now, but no need to worry, he had it written down on a sheet of paper in his pocket. He wasn't as foolish as to come this far without preparation.

Natalie “Nat” Benoit

User Image
Natalie smiled as Hoshi returned from her chat with Professor Elm and his aide Scott. It seemed that she was as ready to get started on her mission as Nat was, though it was clear that the redhead was more vocal about her excitement. Nodding to her as she said they should get going, she smiled, heading out the door to the Lab and taking to the streets once more. However, before they got too far, Professor Elm came after them, calling out that they should visit a friend of his on Route 30 named Mr. Pokemon. With a name like that, he had to know something of value, so it sounded like a good idea, the future ranger shrugging slightly at her new accomplice before continuing into the streets.

"Phanpy! Phan!" Sophie, yes, Natalie had mentally decided to name her new friend Sophie, ran up to a girl in front of the Lab, looking like she was searching for something. Natalie took off after her pokemon, catching up to the long nose pokemon as she ran around the girl's feet.

"Sophie, wait, come back! Stop that! I'm sorry!," she said as she came to a stop near the girl, giving her an apologetic smile. However, before she got a chance to say much else, a boy approached them, his blue hair catching her attention. He asked if this was the right spot to find a Dr. Fin, the redhead tilting her head to the side with a slightly confused expression. Sophie, in her excitement, stopped running around the girl's legs and made a beeline for the boy, leaping to his feet and gently prodding his legs with her trunk. She looked to be happy, her ears waving up and down with an excited look on her face.

"Phan! Phanpy! Phanpy!"

"Sophie stop it! Umm, well, this is Professor Elm's lab. I don't know if I've ever heard of a Professor Fin," she said with a soft chuckle. Her hand found the back of her head, rubbing it slightly as she wished she could be of more help. The one thing she could do was control her new pokemon. Pulling out one of the pokeballs that Scott gave her, she cleared her throat, pointing the ball towards her pokemon.

"Sophie, this had better not become a habit. Return." In a flash of red light, the pokemon went into her pokeball, Natalie confident in the knowledge that she would no longer have to keep running after her pokemon every two or three seconds. Casting a glance to Hoshi, she gave her another one of her apologetic smiles, not wishing to hold her up. If anything, Hoshi seemed like the kind of girl that didn't want to mess around, but Natalie just had to stop and make sure that these new trainers knew where they were going. If she were in their shoes, she would want someone to stop and help her.
