Appearance:
User Image
Name: Aphrodite
Roman Equivalent: Venus
Gender: Female
Symbols: Myrtle, dove, sparrow, swan
Elements: Love, lust, beauty, protectress of sailors.
Description: There are two stories of Aphrodite's birth. The first is that she was born of sea foam when the titan Uranus was castrated by his son and his gentials were thrown into the ocean. The second is that she is the daughter of Zeus and Dione. She is also sometiems called Kypris and Cytherea, as Cyprus and Cythera both claim to be places of her birth.
Because he was afraid the other gods would fight over her, Zeus married Aphrodite to Hephaestus. She was not happy about this, despite the many gifts the god made for her, and she frequently is unfaithful to him. Her favorite lovers seem to be the war god Ares and the mortal Adonis. She has also consorted with Dionysus and Hermes, as well as two mortals, Anchises and Butes. She had children with all of her lovers except Adonis. Despite this, however, each spring she renews her virginity in the sea at Paphos.
Aphrodite also had a key role in starting the Trojan war; she promised Helen of Troy to Paris if he claimed the love goddess to be the most beautiful. This also gained her the hatred of Athena and Hera.
Personality: The love goddess is extremely vain and and is very easily offended. She has a short-temper, especially with beautiful girls, and even more so mortals, as Aphrodite gets jealous with ease. She does not get along with many of the godesses, and is flirtacious with the desirable male ones. She is vengeful when angered.
Other: Aphrodite was never a child. From the moment she was born she was a full-grown, infinitely attractive woman, and she is all too happy to remind people of this.
One of her more famous offspring is Eros, the god of lust.

Apollo and Artemis
Name: Apollo
Roman Equivalent: Apollo
Gender: Male
Symbols: lyre/kithara (guitar-ish),plectrum (pick), bow, arrows, sword, sacrificial tripod, laurel wreath, palm (of a hand), wolves, dolphins, roe deer, swans, cicadas, hawks, ravens/crows, snakes, mice, griffin
Elements: light, sun, truth, prophecy, archery, medicine, healing/disease, music, poetry, the arts, colonists, herds and flocks, etc
Description: Apollo is the younger twin brother of Artemis and he does not let any of the gods forget that fact. Despite this, he's popular among the other gods and has a good physique and face. He is very close to his sister and does not mind that she's constantly coming to his aid, though he will push from her if she does anything he find remotely embarrassing. Aside from his sister, he has really taken to Hermes. He has recieved many gifts from the messenger god and has given gifts to the god as well. Apollo does not, however, take well with Dionysus, who proves to be too drunk and wild for the sun god's taste.
Despite his sister, Apollo has many lovers, mortal, god, female, and even male. The god does not seem to be too picky as long as the person suits his taste. However, because of his sister, he has never taken someone against their will, though seducing the person is fine. As of yet, he has not truly loved someone and mistakes lust for love.
Personality: Since his older twin tends to easily run to the god's side, the mortals have taken it as Apollo being a very dominant and serious person, but the god is actually very laid back and a little spoiled. He believes he's better than almost everyone in many areas and dislikes anyone else bragging about being better than him. He is an exceedingly proud god and will personally deal with anyone who injures his pride. Apollo hates being tricked and will always take some kind of action that scorns the trickster, though it does not always end in death.
Being the god of prophecy, Apollo is constantly seeing things that will occur in the future. Fortunately, if he can keep his mind busy then he won't see what will occur. He dislikes sleeping and relaxing because these two things will cause his prophetic visions to come. Several gods have exploited these things in order to see what will/might happen in the future.
Other: Apollo represents harmony, order, and reason—characteristics contrasted with those of Dionysus, god of wine, who represents ecstasy and disorder. He is interested in Aphrodite, but he is cautious because of Ares and his sister, Artemis.

Apollo and Artemis
Name: Artemis
Roman Equivalent: Diana
Gender: Female
Hair: Platinum Blonde
Eyes: Gray-Blue
Symbols: silver bow, arrows, deer, cypress
Elements: moon, hunt, wild, fertility/childbirth, maiden dances,
Description: A very independent goddess that knows what she wants 99.9% of the time, Artemis usually does what she wants. She does not ask for favors from her father Zeus, but rather, demands that he does things for her. Among these requests were the promise of her chastity, nymph followers, and even hunting dogs. There are many things that she does not like, but among the items she likes are: animals, hunting and archery, dancing, and especially her younger twin, Apollo.
Artemis has a huge brother-complex and, while she does leave him alone, if the god gets into any trouble, she comes running to back him up. As evidence of that, she supported the Trojans in the Trojan War instead of the Greeks, whom under normal circumstances would receive her blessing. Most of the other Olympian gods have attempted to not cross paths with Artemis' arrows. Though her brother is god of archery, she is a much better shot when it comes to longer distances and she can hit a target exactly where she wants farther than 2000 yards with the right bow.
There are only two of the gods that Artemis can admit to hating without skipping a beat: Aphrodite and Hera. Though she does not hate the two goddesses for the same reason, the hate is still apparent. Hera dominates the moon goddess' hate list for giving her mother, Leto, so much trouble when she was due to give birth and for silencing Echo, a nymph that served under her. Aphrodite was inducted into the hate list when she killed a mortal man that had scorned the love goddess in order to devote himself to Artemis and pursue hunting.
Personality: Artemis is a very loving and passionate person when it comes to people/things that she likes. She is also very protective of anything she loves. Those who do not interest the goddess, however, do not receive much, if any, attention. She demands, rather than asks, things of god and mortal alike. If something displeases her, she gets rid of it immediately as well as punishes the one who gave her the displeasing item. A headstrong goddess, she doesn't know how to take a joke or distinguish an accident from a distinct act.
Other: She can sprout a set of wings when she wants to but rarely does so. Only her direct family members (brother, father, and mother), along with a handful of mortals, have seen her wings in the flesh. There is a statue of her with her wings located in a temple near Sparta.

Name: Athena
Roman Equivalent: Minerva
Gender: Female
Symbols: owl, Nike, aegis, lance, armor, shield with Medusa's head on it
Elements: companion of heroes, heroic endeavour, wisdom, weaving, crafts, strategic/disciplined war
Description: The goddess of war for many of the greeks, even the Spartans, Athena is one of the tougher goddesses. She is almost always accompanied by Nike, goddess of war, though this is not always evident since Nike is usually disguised as an owl or a pair of owl-type wings. Despite being a virgin, Athena has a son, which was the result of attempted rape by Hephaestus that failed. The mother of the child is actually Gaia, but Athena took care of the boy.
Aside from Hephaestus liking the goddess of war, it is Hephaestus' brother, Ares, that takes up the slot of opposition against Athena. The two war gods are constantly butting heads and almost never see eye-to-eye, having different opinions on how war (or anything else) should be conducted. Aphrodite is another of the gods that Athena gets into large skimishes with, though they are far less frequent than the fights with Ares.
Personality: Athena is the think before you speak type of person and usually executes actions after quick but careful thought. She thinks quickly on her feet and likes to challenge herself both mentally and physically. Her sense of humor also tends to be kind of cruel despite her usually having good intentions. The greatest pet peeve for Athena is talking to people who are immensely below her intelligence level.
Other: Athena is the patron goddess of many cities, the most notoble ones are Athens and Sparta.
