Just a fun thread for which I want to start. Crochet or Knit? Which do you prefer and why?
Me, I like both but prefer Crochet because I am more familiar with how to do it.

I just started learning how to knit a few days ago so right now I prefer crochet but I have a feeling I will like knitting a lot once I practice some more.

I'm full of sugarplums...
I prefer knit because I suck at crochet! I will learn (or attempt to) to crochet after I finish my sweater. It's hard to cross over...have to throw with the opposite hand...ok, you just have to catch it, but still. and then the double and triple and quadruple crochet...gaaaahh! I'm sure it's really simple, I'm just lazy. xd
...and stupid metaphors.

i like knitting because i taught myself how to do it two years ago, i'm just recently learning how to crochet and once i figure out how to read the pattern correctly it gets a bit easier but right now the hard part is the pattern reading...

I prefer crochet just because I'm better at it right now. I'm working on teaching myself to knit but it's a slow process and gets interrupted by crochet projects all the time. I only know one method of casting on but I can knit you a great rectangle.

I prefer knitting . . . but that may only be because I don't know how to crochet yet (although Oma did give me a couple of hooks and I have an Amigurmi book!!)

I can crochet and I can knit, and I prefer knitting. With crocheting, my left hand mainly is just a guide for the yarn and my right hand does almost all of the work. With knitting both hands are involved. I love the movement of the wrists while knitting. It's very smooth and puts me in a very relaxed state. My crocheting isn't very smooth, it's kind of jerky, but my knitting just tends to flow. That's why I prefer knitting. biggrin

I prefer crochet. I only knit with a loom, because the whole two-needle thing is puzzling to me. I've tried a few times, I'll probably try again!

Crocheting is way funner and easier to me. Sadly, knitting often produces nicer garments and wearable accessories, which is what I like to make (I like useful stuff best). So I guess I don't have a favorite... ;_;

I've only failed at crochet, but it seems like you would have to constantly keep looking at your work. I don't have to look at my work too often with knitting. xd Unless it's something really complicated (cables arrgh). Or am I wrong? eek
...and stupid metaphors.

...and stupid metaphors. I agree to some extent. I have to keep glancing down at my knitting to make sure I don't miss a stitch, but I'm paranoid.

Knitting,
because, well, I don't have anyone around to teach me how to crochet,
and I really prefer the look of knitted pieces.
