Zaida wandered the cages looking for a dog that fit her fancy. "They're all so beautiful...and the little ones are cute!...but which to pick...I need one that obeys, and has a great nose that can smell danger."

Juliana had seen Zaida come in, and as she did she smiled. Perhaps one of the dogs would find a good home. She remained at the front desk, however, leaving Zaida to browse through the cages.
Koto shyed back as Zaida passed her pen. Her tail, ears, and head low, she looked up but remained quiet. She didn't trust humans, even if they were giving her food..

Zaida turned back around and looked at the gorgeous white dog. She bent down on her knees and looked at the dog sweetly. "You're a beautiful dog." She smiled at Koto and wanted to pet her but thought she was scared so she didn't want to scare her anymore.

A soft growl escaped from Koto's throat. She backed up against the wall of her cage, out of Zaida's reach.

Zaida sighe dand stood again. "Okay she's out of the question..she obviously doesn't like me." She kept walking exploring the different cages.

In the cage to Koto's right, Joel, with a bark of excitement, rushed forward and reared up, her front paws on the gate. They've come back? She wondered hopefully, expecting the human that was browsing the cages to be one of the humans of her family. But as she saw Zaida she drew back once more with a whine of despair. It wasn't them. Why weren't they coming back?
Koto could hear, but not see Joel in the cage next to her. She understood that the Whippet was upset, and sounded her own whimper of sympathy in response. After all, they were in this together.

Kata entered and made a nice smile and a short wave to Juliana when he walked past to look at the dogs.

Juliana came to feed the dogs, waving at both Zaida and Kata as she passed the cages, filling each dog's bowl up with just the right amount of food. Taking a jug that she had brought into the room, she refilled the dogs' water bowls as well, with fresh, cool water.
Koto whined a little apprehensively, but slowly came forward to lap up some of the water. She took a few bites of the food, but she wasn't hungry; too nervous. Hearing anther human enter, hwever, she shyed back once more.
Joel yipped in excitement and began to gulp down the food quickly. She was still upset, of course, but no use brooding over it. She still needed food to live. Finishing her meal quickly, she lapped up almost half of the cold water. As she heard Kata enter, she rushed forward with another bark? My family? She wondered hopefully, her front paws on the gate. But alas, no, she could see it wasn't them now. She let her paws slide down with another whine of anguish. Why? Why did they leave me?

Kata saw a white dog that he though looked nice and walked to the cage and bent down on his knees so his face was in the same height as the dog. "hey there." he said with a kind voice and smiled. he was careful to not look directly into the dogs eyes or show his teeth since that was seen as a threat for dogs.

Koto let out a small whimper and backed up against the wall of her cage. Her tail was tucked in between her legs and her ears were pressed onto her head. She was scared.
Joel heard Koto's whimper and whined sympathetically to her. Inching forward, the Whippet looked curiously out at Kata to see what he was doing.

Kata got a sad face. "aw... dont be scared. i wont hurt you." he said with a little sad voice. he then smiled kindly again. "you know what? i will give you something." he said and searched his pockets. he then took out a little piece of dog snacks. "here you go." he said with a kind voice and reached with his hand into the cage, having it open with the dag snack laying on his flat hand. though, he looked at the dogs movements to make sure she wasnt going to bite him, if she was, he would pull his hand back out.
((i was actually going to write that he saw joel before he saw koto in the second post, but i forgot. xD))

Zaida smiled at Kata. "She's a little shy huh?" She looked at Joel and smiled. "You're pretty."

Still looking at Koto with concern, Joel was looking to her right, trying to get a look at Koto but failing due to the cement wall separating the two animals. So far ignoring Zaida for her worry over her cage-mate.
Koto whined apprehensively, looking up at the snack but not coming forward. She sniffed at the snack slightly, but still did not take it. It smelled delicious, but once again, she was too nervous to eat.

Kata made a fast look at Zaida and then looked back at the white dog. she looked at the dog as he answered Zaida. "she seems more scared than shy." he said. he seemed a bit worried. he didnt like when anyone, dog or human, was scared of him. "i think i will let her be for a little while and come back later." he said with a worried voice and let the dog snack fall from his hand down on the floor of the cage and got up from his sitting position. he began to walk down the cages again, petting the ones that was friendly enough.
