* The Setting *

If you don't want to read all this, then here's how it works simply. Belgaaria the Fire Kingdom is ruled by the Dark Queen. They have taken over Secia, the Light Kingdom and are now aiming for Tanaria, the Water Kingdom. The Wind Kingdom, Arstell, are trying to ally the Dark Queen and the Dark country, Gardant are just neutrally selling what they can for coin.

The Light Kingdom, Secia:

Secians are very religious for the most part, chapels and temples being scattered all across their kingdom. It is very cold in Secia half of the time and snow is plentiful, even out of winter. Even so, it is one of the most beautiful kingdoms of them all, specializing in arts and crafts and spending much of their money on luxuries, most likely for their divine temples. Secians tend to be racist of Exirans due to their "lack of technology" and "barbaric ceremonies". Secia is currently engaged in a war with Exire and are affiliated with Arstell. They are also not fond of the Gardish as they frequently smuggle things past their kingdom. Because of their love of order and peace, Secia has many strict rules in play and most people follow them quite well. It is a well-known law that usually ladies rule in Secia, the King being a rare exception. It is ruled by Queen Serenade but was taken over by Belgaaria.

The Earth Kingdom, Exire:

The Exirans are very dependant on their leadership and value it highly - this is especially seen as they are ruled by a grand council instead of a single King or Queen. They frequently do ceremonies and have many old legends and religions. The council is currently split between keeping the old way or grasping the new technology and opening up. Nomads, performers, travellers and exotic animals all are rather common in Exire. It is a very wild place filled with many dangerous jungles and terrains. Like the Secians, The Exirans usually hate the Secians passionately for being "pretentious" or "arrogant". The Exirans have a strong bond with the Tanarians.

The Fire Kingdom, Belgaaria:

The Belgaarians are hardworking people who like to get their work done so they can celebrate and party all the more sooner. Their lands are craggy and hard to walk on so there are many escorts, maps and guides to ensure safe passage. They have a famous volcano called Lavis and a famous resort town by it called La Vino, a hit because of it's hit. There are many miners due to the commoness of the mountains and because of how much gems and steel can be dug out. It is also known for having many smiths and weaponmakers. Belgaaria is probably one of the smallest countries next to Exire and it is ruled by the Evil Queen herself.

The Water Kingdom, Tanaria:

The water kingdom prefers a more cunning route in everything and tend not to get involved in wars so much. The Tanarians hold up a reputation of being clever, but, honest folk even though half of the time, that is a lie in itself. The history in the Water Kingdom is deep and rich leading to many ruins around the place. The people there are very interested in tales and old legends and is pretty much the only place you can get a book right now. Since they were saved by reinforcements from Exire some time ago, the two have always been very connected even though their cultures are way off. They frequently buy pots and old urns from the Belgaarians and really choose not to have any enemies. It is ruled by King Wilbur and his several beautiful daughters.

The Wind Kingdom, Arstell:

Very interested in the way they look, the Arstellics love to mingle with the other countries and endorse in much trade. They are often thought of as "airheads" not helped by the fact they are the Wind Kingdom although this is usually just an insult. As a matter of a fact, the Arstellics are well-known for their huge armada and hub of technology as they rely on ships a lot of the time. Because of their common usage of ships to transport goods, the Arstellics and Tanarians engage in many business proposals although they aren't exactly allies. And in the same way, the Arstellics are always trying to get more of a profit than the Gardish and compete for trade although aren't exactly enemies. They really are enemies with the Belgaarians though as they have recently started war over a mysterious incident regarding a Belgaarian noble.

The Dark Kingdom, Gardant:

Gardant is a country where almost everything can be bought from gems and spices to loyalty and killing. Although Secia would love to have everyone believe the Gardish are heathens, it's not actually true. Business is booming because of the Gardish and the Gardish are well-known for selling weapons to anyone, anytime for the right price. Several merchants make a killing here and are often very rich. Although this is true, it is also true that there are many shady places, criminals, thieves and smugglers all hiding about. Usaully they are commonly around because the guards have been tipped off or something to that extent, but, if they're not, then they're almost always caught and killed. The soldiers and guards in Gardant are so skillfully trained because of all of the criminals, they're probably the best in all Tarristine. Luckily, there are a lot of mercenaries and bodyguards around utililizing these skills for money and often travelling out afterwards. There is a Mercenaries Guild in Gardant that even specializes in that department. Gardant is currently ruled by the justice-loving, battle-hardened man, King Charles.

As Wyatt trekked across the bumpy plains, his excitable companion, Faire bounced up and down always ahead of him chanting out that it wasn't much further to town now. He looked up every now and then and saw she was right - the glorious city was getting closer and closer and that was enough to motivate Wyatt.

It would't be much further 'till he reached Belgaaria soon. All he wanted to do was make sure Mylene was okay. Everything else... didn't matter. In fact, Wyatt had no care in the war at all.

Without even realizing it, he subconciously grabbed his pendant which was in the shape of the holy symbol and gripped it tightly as if for support. Faire looked behind her and saw his tenseness - it wasn't something she ever liked dealing with. She wanted to cheer him up, but, Wyatt really wasn't that type of guy. Suddenly, she whipped around and her light blue scarf glimmered in the early afternoon sun.

"Ah, look Wyatt! We're here!" she grabbed his wrist and dragged him into town where they stopped at the fountain. "We made pretty good time, didn't we? So what's your plan?" Faire cocked her head to one side.

It took a couple of seconds for him to catch his breath for replying. He really wanted some space and thinking room and without being rude to Faire, he thought of a way to send her off for a couple of minutes. Wyatt gave her three silver pieces. "Run off to the town market and get us some supplies. I'll plan out the route to Belgaaria and get us a room in the tavern, yeah? Meet back at the tavern when it's noon."

She nodded her reply and eagerly dashed off leaving Wyatt to head off to the tavern, glad for the lack of noise. Faire was quite happy about getting some new tasty foods and perhaps a little gift for Wyatt to cheer him up that she hummed a little tune under her breath as she walked.

Kismia and Clinta were in the same town as Wyatt and Faire, but instead of checking up on someone, Kismia was on a job. The job was just a simple parcel delivery, but with the war between the fire and water kingdoms, traditional delivery systems were...unavailable. Kismia had just finished, and she was paid in advance, so she decided they might as well stick around for awhile. She looked down at smiled at Clinta, who was once again holding onto her skirt. "Hey, Clinta! You want to get something to eat?" She smiled.

Clinta looked up and nodded and then smiled back.

Kismia looked around. "Hmm...what would be good right now...Cake! Let's go get some cake!" Kismia smiled as she walked around to find a bakery or something.

As a wanderer it was only a matter of time before Dale's traveling would lead him to Belgaaria. He walked the streets unlike any tourist his staff still in hand as he surveyed the city. Here Dale hoped to find any powerful people to spar with; more hopefully a possible teacher. It seemed to Dale that this town had quite a lot of different kinds of people in the town. "This town is bigger than I'd thought," Dale murmured to himself as he continued to aimlessly walk the streets.

As Wyatt searched deseperately around the town for any signs of his dear friend, Faire allowed her mind to be free as she carried an armful of breads, sweet snacks and a rack of meat, too. It might not have looked it, but, Faire was exceedingly strong, probably stronger than Wyatt though he certainly looked tougher, what with the grim face and hatchet on his back.

She was amazed by how many different people were about and by chance, she saw a little girl and an older girl that appeared to be looking for a stall. Faire decided to be kind and offered one of her snacks to the little one who looked positively starved - a cinnamon stick. "Here you go, kiddo! I bought extra so I thought you might take it off my hands. I can be ever so clumsy, you know." she smiled and punched her own head lightly as if to emphasize said clumsiness.
PostPosted: Mon Jan 07, 2008 4:05 pm

((sorry, I would've replied earlier, but our internet was broken the past two days crying ))

Clinta's face brightened as she took the cinnamon stick. She immediatly bit into it without a second thought.

Kismia smiled and patted Clinta on the head. She would've liked the check it first, but she guessed this one was safe enough. "Clinta, would you say?"

"Thank you!" Clinta said through a mouthful of cinnamon and pastry.

Kismia smiled and looked Faire over. "...girl like you seems...a little too carefree." She raised an eyebrow. "Are you sure that's wise during these times?"

((No problem! ^^))

Faire gave the woman a little wink that had a glimmer of intelligence and knowing in it. When she spoke, the tone was as light and happy as always, though.

"Ah, well, you know." she said. "Never judge a lady by her appearance. I can handle myself pretty well. Not that I don't agree. Everything is so hectic lately... oh, and I'm with a friend too." she looked into her basket and grabbed another cinnamon stick. They really were her favourite snack, but, right now, she just wanted to twiddle something in her hand.
PostPosted: Mon Jan 07, 2008 6:02 pm

Kismia answered the wink with a nod, this girl knew what she was doing. "I don't think I've seen you around these parts before. Traveler?" Kismia asked. She been in the fire kingdom lots of times, espically since it was where she picked up Clinta. She knew most of the locals, even had a few slip their secrets with a few extra coin. This person she hadn't seen before. "It is quite hectic...but I gotta say, it gives Gardant a lot of business." Kismia thought to how a lot of her smuggling and delivery jobs had rocketed when the war flared up.

Clinta tugged at Kismia. "Hey! What's hectic?" She asked as she licked the cinnamon of her fingers.

"It means something is causing trouble." Kismia smiled down to her. "Don't worry your little head over it."

"But you just said it was trouble.."

"Uh-huh. I'm from the Water Kingdom, Tanaria. My friend though... he's from the Wind Kingdom. It's quite the march from there, so I've heard." she smiled at the thought. It was very Wyatt-like of him to just travel that long without a break. She imagined he would've starved if he wasn't around.

"You look pretty foreign yourself, though." Faire waved a hand around the town. She ruffled the little one's hair. "She's so cute. Is she your little sister, by chance?"
