27 = Tsunayoshi Sawada
59 = Gokudera Hayato
80 = Yamamoto Takeshi
18 = Hibari Kyouya
L = Lambo
84 = Basil

oshit. I've always wondered this. Or rather, which numbers corresponded to which characters.

I'd really like to know who came up with this concept in the first place.

It's because some of the characters names sound like numbers. (This used to be on Wikipedia, but I don't know what happened to it >_>). For example, since Tsuna=27, 'tsu' sounds like the number 2 (in English), and 'na' sounds like the Japanese number 7 (nana). So on and so fourth...
Hope that makes sense ^_^;;
