 A young, graceful deer with the remains of fawnspots on her flank walked slowly to the old stump in the middle of her herd's clearing. The stump was close enought to the Home Oak that the Lord's hinds could watch their children without having to be overbearing. The stump was a special gathering place. It was a gathering place for yoounglings. The fire-colored hind was a storyteller after all.
With a short leap, the hind took her place upon the worn-smooth, very large tree stump. She nestled down upon the wood and awaited the coming of any young deer who wanted a story. She was itching to tell a story or two.

 The green-eyed calf was nudged towards the stump by his mother. His natural curiosity needed a little boost. His mother, as always, watched him from a distance. His steps away from her were sometimes small leap and skips, then he would revert to a nervous shuffle, looking back over his shoulder for his mother's encouraging gaze.
When he arrived at the stump, he danced in place for a moment. "Um... my mumma said you tell stories? I wanna listen... please."

Iris looked down at the furry brown calf with kind eyes. He was a fine little calf, strong with an intelligent gleam in his jade green eyes. With a gentle smile Iris asked, "Isn't your name Broom? I've seen you before. You will make a fine Outrider." She shook away a small fly that had been pestering her.
"So you want to hear a story? Do you have a certain one, Broom?"

  Another calf came running down the hill, this one red with a black back that was speckled in white with a crescent moon on each haunch. Certainly this was one of the Lord's sons. "A story! A story!" he crowed, and he was soon followed by a young fawn as well. This one white and black with a moon on her back as well. She was just as wide eyed and excited, being the half sister of the calf infront of her. "Yes! Tell us a story please!" Her tail wagged back and forth happily, eager ears perked forward in anticipation.

Broom was somewhat cowed by the arrival of the two rambunctious Lord's children. But he found the storyteller's kindness gave him a little more backbone than usual. "I like any stories." He paused, looking at the markings of Aidan and Selina. "Do you know any stories about the moon?"

Iris looked up at the sky, a thoughtful expression on her features. "The moon, huh? Let's see. I know of a tale of how the white deer first came to be amoung the red," she replied, a gentle smile spreading on her face.
She looked to the lord's children. She knew of the female, but not of the little redwood colored male. "Is that alright with you two? Selina and....I'm afraid I can't recall your name little one." One of her ears flicked back in annoyence. She knew most of the herd's younglings, but not a few. This male was one of the few.
