In both of the trailers I've noticed someone saying "it's alive"
However in the second one, someone says "rob, it's alive."
This makes me wonder, do you guys think that maybe Rob has already met this monster? or has done research on it? Why else would people around him keep saying "it's alive" well no s**t. It wouldn't be tearing the city apart if it was dead!
what do you guys think?

Well the thing is why would the person say its alive unless that thing is usually not alive. You only would state something like that if it isn't supposed to be alive.

well in the trailers the army is seen shoting at it maybe they thought the army must of defeated it to then find out that it was still alive or something

Perhaps they assume it might be some sort of terrorist attack, but instead it's quite something else. Something.. That's alive.

They know nothing of the monster. He says it's alive because they are under the impression that what is attacking them is something man-made like bombs or planes and things of that nature. When one of them catches a glimpse of the monster he comes to the realization that what is attacking them is a large living organism, hence the statement "It's alive"

At the end of Cloverfield, the very end after the credits and stuff, there's a voice clip. The voice clip says "Help us" but it's kind of hard to understand. Someone, I don't know who thought of doing this, had reversed that voice clip so it siad "It's still alive." That's probably what you heard in the trailer.
