The sun slowly sets as you take your final steps up the immensely large hill. It had been such a long day trying to find this legendary observatory that you had heard so much about. There had been talk of the largest telescope in Gaia and of the most detailed descriptions and explanations in celestial history. You finally reach the planetarium's front door, right when the sun had disappeared. Looking into the sky, you see each and every star come out of hiding, shining their gentle light for all of Gaia to see.
Interrupting your tranquil moment are tiny, almost inaudible footsteps. Footsteps you probably wouldn't have heard if the creature hadn't tripped over your foot while it was scurrying into the night. You pick the tiny creature up, barely fitting in the palm of your hand, and it squeals loudly and throws a bright, shiny object in your face. You scream and drop the creature on the ground, desperately trying to get the dust out of your eyes.
After a couple of minutes of clawing your eyes out, they are finally well enough to see out of again. The dust glitters in your hand and you- wait, glittering dust? The dust shimmers in the night and while you study it, the creature is back again giggling at your obvious bewilderment over what just happened.
"Ti ilwl lal kame ensse oosn. Og nsidie nad infd uot!"
Somehow, you were able to understand the little creature. Should you go inside? Well, my friends, this is when you take the adventure into your own hands. Welcome to Sideris, let your light be free."Starlight is one of the most magical things in the world for it is one of the only things that can pierce through the darkness."

• S • T • A • G • E • S • STAGE o1; the lock and key *;;* selene had decided to place a lock and key design on every vessel so that the one who should open would be the only one who could open it. the star creature attached to the lunchbox is called a lum. a lum's main purpose is to find a caretaker for their sidera. once said caretaker has been found, they will act as a guide to both the new caretaker and their sidera. it's their job to be the wet blanket and tell their sidera not to do this and not to do that, etc. but, some lum are cool enough that they just won't care what their sidera do. anyways, the lum are given a key that should only be given to the true caretaker, one that they had selected as they though they would be fit to be a caretaker. once given, the key should then proceed to glow and unlock the lunchbox. please proceed to stage 2.
STAGE o2; where's my lunch? *;;* after the whole shebang of flashing lights and EXPLOSIONS, your sidera has been reawakened. at this point, they know absolutely nothing about the world their in or the fact that they're tiny and could get stepped on, they just want to EXPLORE. their curiosity is endless and will oftentimes get themselves into small nooks and crannies that seemed almost impossible to get into. they are extremely attracted to their lum though and won't let them leave their side. so it would be most effective to use their lum to draw them out of wherever they had been hiding.
STAGE o3; omg it's so big now @w@;; *;;* based on your sidera's personality, it can grow up into any of five different types of adults. they will then be asked by alaster if they'd like to hel out around the observatory/estrella. in which case, they would be given quests and rewarded through various means. the lum has become nothing more than a background voice at this stage, it's done it's job well enough to have it's sidera make it to adult and all it wants to do is take a backseat and watch their sidera go. but that doesn't stop them from voicing their comments, it's just stops them from actually doing something about it.alignments -from left to right- each type is aligned to a specific constellation in the sky which will be explained later on.
wings of layfu *;;* and on shimmering wings he descended to the land, putting his people to rest. this type of sidera is fun-loving, hyperactive, and extremely happy. they ride around on their lums all day zipping from one place to another and then back again and then all over again. and they just laugh and laugh and laugh until they're out of breath. they are the scavengers of the observatory, searching the grounds for mysterious objects. when a new sidera has fallen, alaster sends out a whole fleet of layfu because who knows how many will actually follow their directions and how many will get distracted and stray off their path. they all fly back to the estrella after a mission, as after a success, everyone gets milk and cookies! yayyyyyy!!!
sesenti the sword *;;* with a sword with steel as cold as the darkest night, he vanquished the darkness to whence it came. based off of alaster's magical sword, a sesenti is a sidera that is always headstrong, stubborn, and is never afraid of confrontation. believe me, you do not want to get into an argument with these guys. REALLY. their lum has transformed into a sword which can only be used at the lum's discretion. appropriate uses are duels, practices, skills training, and chopping things down. although this may not seem like much to do now, who knows? maybe there's something out there that we will need to fight, but let's hope not.
chyanten the light *;;* he began to glow with a blue-ish light and just as quickly as it had come, it was gone. chyantens are sidera that are skilled in the magical arts. they are often smart, inquisitive, and oftentimes think things over before doing something. give them a book on almost anything and they'll be sure to read it and remember any given fact stated in it. coming by magic scrolls and spellbooks is pretty hard these days so the way to a chyanten's heart is by offering them a new spell. their lum has transformed into a magical staff, able to channel their magical energies into a single spell or a flurry of quick shots. their spells can vary from elemental manipulation to EXPLOSIONS and gravity. the use of their magic is up to their lum's discretion.
the shower of stars, eranas *;;* stars fell from the sky, piercing the shadow covering, and were drawn into the ever growing cylinder of light. eranas are probably the most diverse type of sidera personality-wise. their personalities can vary from being calm, cool and collected to impulsive, hot-headed, and confrontational. their lum has transformed into a balloon-type thing which the sidera will carry with them ALWAYS. the eranas are also prone to dressing up as certain characters that they have seen. while they may look like the original character, they are by no means that exact character. (( aka the eranas will be used for cosplay edits ))
kyshin, the shimmering shockwave *;;* a gold shimmering shockwave hummed as it flew over everything, searching for any trace of Alaster's power. oh god, the kyshin are going to be a handful @w@;; the kyshin have a tendency to.. well, steal things. they don't exactly know they're stealing though, they just take whatever they think is awesome and shiny. which, not that i think about, is just about everything... it's not too late to lock every drawer/box/container/hidden passageway in your house you know, i could recommend someone who does it for a very cheap price! anyway, their lum, being extremely shiny and covered in stardust, has also been turned into some sort of bling. the sidera's klepto tendencies may also have passed onto the lum, as seen by the "OOH SHINEY!" look in the lum's eyes.

Prospective Front Page Story... You enter the observatory and are awestruck at the sight before your eyes. In the center of the observatory lies an enormous telescope, probably bigger than most small houses that stretches out into the starry night skies. As you approach it, a small pedestal catches your eye; something you hadn't seen initially. Instead of going to look into the telescope, you decide to examine the book laying on top of the pedestal, maybe containing instructions on how to work the telescope or previous discoveries. Upon opening the book, the first thing you notice is that everything is written by hand. And as you flip through the pages, you notice that the content within the covers varies. Certain pages contain extremely detailed diagrams and descriptions while others are simply pictures with scribbles next to it. On the last page lies an ornately decorated page, outlined in gold and written in dark blue ink. As you gently touch the page, the border begins to glow and the words seem to flit off the page. Shimmering gold words hover in front of your face, "The Celestial Legend". And right before your eyes, a story begins to play out. Images of war, sacrifice, shadows, and magic flash through your mind.
{the celestial legend can be read here}
After what seems like many hours, the words begin to dissipate and you are left standing in the observatory with a million thoughts running through your head. You suddenly hear footsteps behind and you turn to look at who it is. It is none other than the hero of our story Alaster.
"You know my sto- er.. our story now. The stars have been falling in multiples lately and the lum are going crazy trying to find new caretakers. Will you help us?"

the far past>> ‘Twas a long time ago when the war had been fought. A time before history had even began and time itself was still just a thought. Their were only two major gods at the time, siblings in fact: Hyperion, the god of the sun, and Selene, the goddess of the moon. Hyperion and Selene had always been on good terms with each other, never daring to cross into one another’s domain without prior permission.
One day, the time came for the siblings to decide on who would have domain over the day and domain over the night. Unfortunately, the two could not come to a decision and so began the war of the ages. Hyperion’s army utlized golden chariots and arrows that shined with the sun’s rays , piercing the defenses of the Moon’s armies but Selene was not to be outdone. She created angels with silver spears and swords to cut down the armies of the Sun.
It seemed like an eternity before either side began to give and slowly but surely, the armies of the Sun began to overtake the armies of the Moon. Selene saw this and quickly created an angel different than all the rest, an angel more powerful than her entire army combined. She sent him quietly into the ranks of the Sun’s army and said she would call him when the time was right. He slowly made alliances with his comrades, those alliances slowly blossoming into friendships. He grew up and became known as the Sun’s best warrior and was thought to win the war for Hyperion.
In the Final Battle, he was called by Selene to give up his friendships and kill the entire army while Hyperion told him to go and find Selene and kill her so that he and his friends could live in peace. Looking around him, his heart pained as he saw the people he held dear fight one another. This war was making him choose between his own people, and the people that he had come to love and that was not a decisions he was ready to make. With a final courageous thought to end the war and the pain it was causing of both sides, he decided on an act that would grab both sides attention. He began to raise up into the air, glowing ever brighter with every second that passed. His light slowly spread throughout the entire battlefield, stopping all violence as each warrior turned his or her head to see the source of this light. Selene and Hyperion gazed upon his shimmering body and in the blink of an eye, he was gone in an explosion of shining dust.
This sacrifice signaled the end of the war as Selene and Hyperion could not do battle anymore. They decided to cast lots for the day and night with Hyperion receiving control of Day and Selene receiving control of Night. To give the angel the respect he deserved, they took his dust and threw it into the sky, calling them “stars”.
the past>> Many an age passed since the Great War and the people of the Moon and Sun were able to live in peace. The people became familiar with peace itself and the Great War and the gods faded into the pages of time. One day, a powerful wizard appeared and cast a spell over the entire land causing a shadow to cover the skies. The people did not know how to fight the wizard’s powers for he was aligned neither to Day nor Night. His powers lay in the time between Day and Night; Twilight. The people grew worried with each passing day and prayed profusely to Selene and Hyperion, hoping that somehow their prayers may be answered and they will be saved.
Unfortunately, Selene and Hyperion had already tried to pierce the shadow with their powers to no avail. The wizard’s powers were oblivious to both the powers of the moon and sun rendering Selene and Hyperion useless. They gave up and decided on a plan that would, hopefully, work and save their people. They both grasped each other tightly and began to focus all their energy into the space above them. Their powers began to mix and mingle and eventually, they both ran out of energy and collapsed to the ground in a state of exhaustion. Being gods, they did not die but rather fell into a deep slumber in order to revive and restore their powers. Above them, a shape was forming and out of the shadow came a hero. This hero had all the powers of Selene and Hyperion and all their memories and wisdom were ingrained in his mind. He descended onto the people’s land and began to put the people to sleep, calming their senses and putting their minds to rest. He took on the name Alaster the Sleeping Star.
When he had taken care of all the people, he approached the wizard and started what was known as the Stellation or the Great Duel. Alaster and the wizard fought intensely, the powers of the moon and sun deftly handling those of shadow. Several hours later, Alaster was on the ground exhausted as was the wizard, both having used up almost all of their powers. Alaster painfully got to his feet and called out to the sky, asking for power unheard of that could vanquish the wizard and his shadow and a beam of light shot down from the sky engulfing Alaster. Stars fell from the sky, piercing the shadow covering, and were drawn into the ever growing cylinder of light. The wizard looked on in amazement as Alaster emerged from the light with armor imbued with the light from the sun and a sword with steel as cold as the darkest night. From his back emerged wings that twinkled with the ethereality of the stars of the sky. His body, his voice had filled with a great power. A power that had not been used for a very long time.
Alaster stepped to the wizard and pointed his sword at him. A tiny beam of blue light shot out and began to engulf the wizard. The wizard screamed as the light pierced through his skin and a wispy cloud of darkness started to seep out of the holes. The wizard’s body collapsed to the ground lifelessly and the shadow hovered menacingly over it, captured within the orb of blue light. Alaster spoke a few words and the orb began to compress and slowly but surely, the shadow began to disintegrate and soon, nothing was left but a couple handfuls of sparkling black dust. The wizard had been vanquished and all was going to be well again. Or so Alaster thought.
The wizard’s dark powers had such a perverse effect on the world that the world itself was beginning to crumble and all that the people had known was beginning to vanish into nothingness. Alaster began to form vessels to transport the people to another world, one that would be safe for them to live in peace. These vessels were rectangular and well made, indestructible to anything other than the powers of the gods and cushioned on the inside so that the people inside would be able to travel comfortably. There was a problem though; the vessels were much too small for the people to fit in. Alaster changed all of the sleeping people into creatures of his own design that were, of course, small enough to fit in the vessels.
This mass transformation, however, had used up almost all of Alaster’s powers and there was still the issue of transporting all of the people (who were now creatures) to a new world. He didn’t have the time to go from world to world searching for one without faults; he needed a world now! He opened up a portal to a random world, one that he knew had at least some goodness in it. This world of course, was none other than our very own Gaia.
the present>> Alaster arrived in Gaia cold, tired, and alone. As he wal- Wait a second. Alone? Alaster quickly surveyed his surroundings. There was still some light out, he had all his powers, and he was just missing.. every single person that he had transformed. This was not good. Not good at all. He got up and began to explore where he had fallen. He stood on a large hill that overlooked a very large city and although it was night, the light from the moon was able to illuminate the meadow he was in. It was very peaceful, and the fact that something familiar from his own world crossed over calmed Alaster.
It calmed him enough to realize that he did know where his charges were, in fact he could feel their aura. He just couldn't place his finger on it but he knew they were around here somewhere. Alaster thrust his sword into the ground so he could channel his powers all throughout the land. He mumbled a couple of words and a gold shimmering shockwave hummed as it flew over everything, searching for any trace of Alaster's power.
Alaster sat on the ground puzzled. As he lay his head back and stared at the sky for a second, it hit him. The people were in this world, yes, but they weren't on it! He pulled his sword out and quickly transformed it into a telescope. One that could see far into the heavens. He took quick looks and every star, confirming his theory. Hanging from the bottom of each star was a vessel! From looking at the stars, he glanced over at the moon and gasped. Waving back at him was Selene.
She called him up to her but he couldn't. He tried to explain to her that his powers were drained and he had almost nothing left within him. She giggled and explained that they were only tired from his extensive use; with a little rest, they would be as good as new. Alaster just nodded his head dumbly. She then explained how she had managed to wake both her and Hyperion up after Alaster had left with their people. Their world had crumbled, dissipated into nothing, and by saving their people, he had also managed to save a part of their world. And now, she was here, to get that part back so that they may begin to rebuild.
Alaster began to glow with a blue-ish light and just as quickly as it came, it had gone. Selene smiled and said they had only taken a piece of his aura and that he shouldn't notice any difference; it shouldn't affect him at all.
Alaster then asked to explain why he couldn't have all the charges now instead of leaving them up in the stars. Her reply was that they would fall to him when the time was right. And when they did fall, they would have their own means of finding a new caretaker. Alaster was shocked that they'd even want a new caretaker. After all, who had saved them when there looked like there would be no hope? Selene explained that they needed someone else to raise them. Alaster would still be able to know them and ask them for help but they needed someone that could give them.. individual attention.
The stars that the vessels hang from are enchanted, being the remains of the great hero, and once awakened they will be their guide. Guides? New Caretakers? This was all too much for Alaster to take in. Selene laughed and told him to take his well deserved rest. And when he awoke, everything would be taken care of.
