OK, I don't know about anyone else, but I found that trying to help my orphan was a complete waste of energy and gold. I was able to buy 2 of the items she wanted, but each time I tried to give them to her, the system wouldn't get it from my inventory. So now I have a hoop n' stick and a piece of carpet that I have absolutely no use for. I abandoned my orphan. Oh, I tried caroling in town too and there are no musical notes on the houses.
