Oh joy. As you can see i'm not utterly moved.....sure..the actor is alright, but I don't want to make any judgements just yet.
Los Angeles, CA December 11, 2007 – Summit Entertainment announced today that Robert Pattinson will star as “Edward” in the highly anticipated feature film production TWILIGHT opposite Kristen Stewart. The thriller-romance, based on Stephenie Meyer’s publishing phenomenon, is slated to begin production in February 2008 with Catherine Hardwicke directing a script by Melissa Rosenberg (STEP UP). Karen Rosenfelt (DEVIL WEARS PRADA) and Greg Mooradian will produce along with Mark Morgan via his Maverick Films banner.
Erik Feig, Summit Entertainment’s President of Production, stated, “It's always a challenge to find the right actor for a part that has lived so vividly in the imaginations of readers but we took the responsibility seriously and are confident, with Rob Pattinson, that we have found the perfect Edward for our Bella in TWILIGHT.”
Robert Pattinson most recently starred in LITTLE ASHES as the young Salvador Dali. Pattinson is best known for his role as Cedric Diggory in the recent box office successes HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX and HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE.
***A note from Stephenie about the casting of Robert Pattinson:
I am ecstatic with Summit's choice for Edward. There are very few actors who can look both dangerous and beautiful at the same time, and even fewer who I can picture in my head as Edward. Robert Pattinson is going to be amazing.

It is official. I cannot watch the Twilight the movie because they have terribly casted it. *shakes head sadly*

Mean either I do not like it that is not how I pictured Edward but apparently Stephenie Meyer is fine with it sooo.... but still it stinks...

i'm very disapinted... his hair is wrong, (i heard is voice in harry potter) his voice sounds like finger nails on a chalk bored compared 2 edward's, he is nowere NEAR as pale as he should b i don't think and amount of make-up can fix that...., and he has NO muscle WHAT SO EVER! edward wasn't ripped but the was muscular (UNLIKE THIS IMPOSTER)

I'm not thrilled with who they picked. All I can think of is "Cedric Diggory" and I even thought he was wrong for that movie.
I don't find him good looking but I'm sure they can make him look the part and he could possibly act the part. What I mean is, if he can convey Edward's personality well it could work.

KK this is how I pictured Edward...EdwardYou cannot tell me that he isn't Edward material! Just... somehow pale him up add contacts and BAM! You've got an Edward! I mean... jeez look at him!!! He stars as Aiden in the show South of Nowhere.

ok...i know i made this forum...but, after studying the picture quite thoroughly, i can honestly say that he could make a convincing Edward. The voice, if he's a good actor he can change it. The complextion.....you'd be surprised with what hollywood makeup can do. Muscles....Some actors actually train to be their character...He could be toning those puppies as we speak. I say, give him a chance....who cares what he looks like.

I agree. Ithink they choose him for his accent. Edward was born in old english right? So why not get someone with a good accent.
