As one of the many anime fans here on Gaia, i can't help but adore Yoko Kanno and her band, the SeatBelts.
For those of you who have no idea what i'm talking about, Yoko Kanno is a Japanese composer who does a lot of work for anime and video games. You might be familiar with her work if you've seen Cowboy Bebop, Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex, or Wolf's Rain. She's also written music for J-Pop artists like Maaya Sakamoto and Kyoko Koizumi.
Yoko has a musical sensibility all her own, and her compositions are always incredibly beautiful, whether depressing (Words That We Couldn't Say - Cowboy Bebop; Heaven's Not Enough - Wolf's Rain), thoughtful (Living Inside The Shell - GITS:SAC; Strangers - Wolf's Rain), playful (Diggin' - Cowboy Bebop) or random as hell (Flying Teapot - Cowboy Bebop; Lithium Flower - GITS: SAC). the artists she chooses to sing these (including Steve Conte, Mai Yamane, Maaya Sakamoto, Emily Bindiger, and Raj Ramayya) bring passion to the music, and the lyrics of Tim Jensen paint amazing pictures.
*gasps for air* okay, i'm done fangirling for the moment. Anyone else love her??
