“Seku-chan….come on…your gonna be late?”

Immediately his eyes opened, a dazed expression on his face as he slowly sat up. ‘Hmmm…?’ he thought to himself. ‘Where am I? Oh wait….I’m in Kei’s room…..’ he mentally slurred, attempting to straighten his vision. As his vision cleared he noticed a young girl with short black hair standing before him, the girl wearing a light brown skirt, a pair of white gym shoes and a white button up blouse, the uniform of the school he had been attending for the past 2 months. His eyes closed half way as he grasped his left shoulder slightly, looking over towards the bed on the other side of the room, noticing that the covers of the bed had been neatly fixed, the pillows fluffed equally as neat. “….so…Kei already left?” the male mumbled, slowly rolling out of bed, his gaze directing towards the black haired girl. “…..Suzuki….what do you want?” he asked, apparently confused.

The black haired girl sighed, rolling her eyes as she held her backpack over her shoulder, holding the handle with one hand. “…..wow Suzuki!!” the girl yelled, holding one hand up to her chest. “Thanks for waking me up Surumi-chan, you’re a life saver. Thanks to you waking me up on a regular day basis after I idiotically hit the alarm clock without thought I’d be late for class and would eventually be sent back to America.” The girl said sarcastically.

Slowly his eyes closed half way. “…..yeah I get it…thanks.” he replied to the black haired girl, his face blank and void of emotion. He stood up, stretching his arms out. His eyes now directed towards her, he spoke. “Ya know….you can go now.” He said calmly. “You don’t have to wait up either Suzuki.”

The black haired girl glared. “Fine!! IT WASN’T LIKE I WAS GONNA WAIT FOR YOU ANYWAYS SEKURAI!!!” the girl yelled before storming out of the room, shutting the door immediately.

This was his life….the same routine over and over again…..but this time was a bit different. Ever since he moved to Karakura town his life became a great deal more interesting. Instead of being awoken by his foster parents the cute girl who had just stormed out of the room and down the stairs woke him up….life was good….being a foreign exchange student was nice….

His name was Lee Parker…but he was dubbed “Sekurai- the lazy jackass” by both his friend Kei and his younger sister Suzuki. Being of African and Japanese decent was good. One: I was fluent in both Japanese and English. Two; Most countries treated the darker skinned kid like a celebrity….but then again that was often annoying….he was often asked comments such as “are you a rapper,” or “have you ever shot anyone?” Often twitching at these comments he’d often simply walk away, ending the conversation entirely.

Sekurai made his way into the bathroom conveniently located down the hallway. He knocked on the door before entering, opening the door soon after, his eyes turning towards the stairs when he noticed Suzuki at the base of the steps, slowly pushing the door open. “I’m going mom.” Suzuki said before walking out, closing the door behind her.

‘......girls…’ he thought to himself. All around the world…no matter what nationality or ethnic background….all girls were the same; annoying. Suzuki, the sister of his younger friend Kie. The two were technically twins, Kie happening to “pop out of the cubby hole” before Suzuki. It was actually kind of funny….Suzuki acted like a mom more then a sister….and the fact that he “liked her” made it so weird that it was funny….at least to him.

Sekurai walked into the bathroom, closing it behind him before looking at himself in the mirror. His eyes were grey and his hair was white and in the form of neck length dreadlocks; white dreads…..originally he figured that if he had tried something so crazy he would’ve been made fun of….Karakura town had people (even students) with such crazy hair styles they wouldn’t even say anything about his own. After taking a long hot shower he stepped out of the bathroom completely naked, making his way down the hallway and back towards his room where he proceeded to dress.

No more then 5 minutes later he walked out of the bathroom wearing a pair of khaki pants and a white short sleeve button up t-shirt. His smile widened as he brushed his locks from the front of his face and to the side. Picking up his brown backpack he ran down the hallway, jumping down the steps and right to the door. Slipping his white gymshoes on he let out a loud yell. “Oi. I’m out. See you at dinner!!!” Sekurai yelled before running out the door.

"Stop being such a ******** smart a**! You know better than to pull a stunt like! Especially in a new school! Do you just not care about school or what?!" The woman seemed to be yelling at the top of her lungs as the boy merely sat there, not listening to her what so ever. This, his eyes shifted ever so slightly to stare her dead in the eyes. "Hey..." His eyes were of a deep blue, especially in the morning. These last few days though, they appeared to be getting darker and lighter depending upon the weather. Cero always threw this down to mere chance, but he never was one to pay a whole lot of attention to anything.

"Shut up...." Cero placed the spoon of food into his mouth as he munched more upon his cereal. These days, he seemed to be less caring and slightly more sadistic in his mannerisms. His parents began to think he was just being a rebellious teenager, but what was there for him to rebel against? He had good grades, he knew how to speak to people, he just didn't care about most things. His eyes seemed to peak around the woman yelling at him as he saw a familiar face at the door.

"Yo, Yuki-san!" Cero smiled as he waved his hand for her to step into the apartment. The family had always lived in this apartment, for as long as he could remember at least. There were problems though, like any other family. The biggest difference with them though, these problems were used as excuses by the entire family. In fact, the only who did not utilize this crutch was Cero. he looked at it as a way to grow stronger, but everyone thought it made him colder than he should be.

It all started about three years prior, a few years before he ever came to this school. Back then, they had lived in a different part of Japan, in a ghetto if you will. Their city was run with gangs, violence was amok and everybody in the area seemed to reflect it. His family though, they ensured that Cero and his sister Kori would attend a private school, away from the violence and daily struggles. It was sure hard upon the family as almost all of their money was spent upon keeping those kids in school. Cero and Kori though, they each seemed to develop rather differently.

Kori became the ace student, the role model for everyone to look at, but with this came a high price. She had no friends and very few people to talk to...ever. In fact, Cero never once remembered seeing her speaking with anybody besides the teachers. It was always peculiar to him though. She was not an ugly women, good looking for her age, but she was just too shy to ever hold a conversation. Guys tried to court her, speaking with Cero in the process, but they all lost interest as she never followed through. He continued to see this trend until one day things just seemed to get out of hand, and everything around him changed, for better or worse.

It began one day with Kori walking home from school, enjoying the day she had. She was just finishing with her student council work as a fellow class mate came to speak with her. The exact events that unfolded were unknown, as the police never found any evidence, but Cero knew one thing was for certain. Someone had murdered her in cold blood. By the time the police came to retrieve her body, she was lying in a pool of blood. Her skin was peeled off and strewn across the walls and ceiling in weird markings. It was much too bizarre for some symbol student to have done. What was even worse though, there were no finger prints found upon any of her skin or her body. It became unsolved as the police knew they could not figure it out. Cero on the other hand, knew he needed to get to the bottom of it.

He began searching frantically for any source or information until one day he caught it. A student has said they heard her speaking about a ghost that seemed to be following her, but no ever knew why. Until that day, Cero had no idea what was going on, but this was at least a clue. It wouldn't be until much later that Cero would ever hear about this rumor once more. After the incident though, Cero's parents came upon their old insurance policies to discover there was a seven million yen upon her death, if causes were not known. As soon as the money cleared, the family moved to Karakura town and forced Cero to move into the new school.

He never liked moving, but he hated the fact that the parents now seemed to blame him for her death almost. It was as if they truly believed he could have done something to save her, but he knew there wasn't. "Why couldn't you be more like your sister? Quiet, timid, nicer?!" The woman yelling at Cero was obviously his mother. She appeared frail in her age, but she had the look of a mad woman on a rampage. She always seemed this way to him now. Never caring for what he had to say or even why he would say. Cero's father on the other hand, tried to stay out of their arguments.

He was sitting in a small chair at the breakfast table. The man seemed to be deep in his reading as he scrolled down the screen on his laptop. The worst part about it all, he had headphones upon his ears in order to drown out the argument between the two of them. Cero glanced over at his father as he seemed to spit in his mind then glare up at his father. "What the hell do you want from me?! You want me to die like her too!"

The mother's eyes widened as she looked on in awe of what he just said. "Well, maybe that would be for the better of us, you never know!" Cero grimaced listening to her, she had become more and more of a nuisance to him every day now. The only thing that kept him out from lashing at her, was Yuki-san. Cero had known her from his preschool days, but now, they had grown closer than ever before. They were now steadily dating and it kept him sane. Yuki looked over at Cero and tried to show a timid smile behind her dark hair. Yuki always wore her hair with one part of her face hidden, no reason except that she noticed how Cero liked the mystery of the look. Her uniform was the normal school uniform. She wore a dark brown skirt with a white top. She carried her books in one arm, no need for a book bag as she never had to study much.

Cero on the other hand, was wearing his uniform as well, a little bit different though. He had his white shirt all crisp and clean, but it was slacking out of his pants, almost with reckless abandon. He never cared too much for his look when he was at his house. His pants were dark khaki, and a little bit loose around his waist. They did not sag or anything, but they gave him the ability to kick when he needed to. Cero was used to fighting alot in his old neighborhood, and this habit seemed to follow him when he moved to Karakura.

Cero sighed as he ran his free hand through his short brown hair. He liked to keep it cut short and clean, but he never did comb it. He also had this nervous habit where he would run his hand part way through his hair, bring it back to his forehead and repeat. Sometimes he did it when stressed but then it became handfuls instead of strokes. He glanced back up at his mother as he seemed to yawn in her face and roll his eyes. "See ya later..." he then stood up and walked over to the door, grabbing his house keys and backpack from the hook next to the door. Cero then slammed the door behind him as he exited with Yuki standing right next to him.

Checking his watch, his eyes widened. “10 minutes…..” he groaned. ‘Okay….come on Lee….you got this covered….we just gotta think of a short-‘ He froze in place as his vision blurred ever so slightly. His eyes narrowing, darting to the side as he looked around in an alert fashion. “Did something just touch me….,” mumbled the boy with white dreadlocks. Slowly his eyes narrowed. “……8 minutes……no time….s**t!!!” he yelled, backpack in one hand as he ran up the first block, suddenly throwing his backpack, watching as it soared right over a fence and into the yard of another house. Immediately his hands met the top of the gate, his hands grasping tightly onto the fence as he pulled himself up and over the gate, running towards his backpack, picking it up, not even stopping as he ran through the neighbors yard…..this was beginning to get tedious….and Sekurai hated tedious things. Slipping the backpack straps on he proceeded through the yard, hopping fence after fence.

Sekurai, to himself, appeared to be a normal kid….well as normal as any other kid…well in a sense. His grades were low but at least he didn’t do drugs. He was often late for class due to himself oversleeping. In the eyes of most people he appeared to be a slacker…but there was one thing about him that he thought set him far apart from any other person.

Noticing the 20 foot high stone wall in the distance that made this the more fun part of the day, his eyes closed half way in a calm fashion, his lips curling into a small smile. He crouched, leaping forward, stopping a foot in front of the gate as he crouched once again, this time even lower. With this jump his body soared high into the air, just above the stone wall and barely over it. He landed on the ground on the other side of the wall, crouched. Hmmm….yeah….normal.

Sekurai kept the smirk on his face as he ran out of the alleyway and down the street. Looking towards his clock he noticed that it was 6 minutes to the start of class…..but then again….it was a mere 5 minute walk… ‘What excuse should I give today….’ He thought to himself, noticing a blue haired girl in the distance. Skidding to a halt he passed Yuki. Without looking over his shoulders he raised his fist, giving Yuki a thumbs up along with Cero. “….let’s go.” Sekurai said coolly.

Cero looked up as he noticed Sekurai appearing out of nowhere, the usual to him by now. His mind never paid much attention to him. Not like he had any room to really say he was weird, being able to clear a 20 foot wall and all. Cero was never a normal person to begin with. In fact, he liked some of his little quirks that set him apart from the others. They always came in handy, especially whenever he got into a fight or scuffle around his neighborhood. The main difference with him though, was his mind. Whenever he picked up an object, he immediately figured a way to use it as a weapon. Even when he picked up weapons he never used before, he felt a sense of knowledge pass through them and into him. Definitely useful.

Cero smirked slightly as he looked over at Yuki, she didn't seem to notice this little display as he spoke up. "Yo, Sekurai, next time, give us a heads up will you?" Not like he truly minded the sudden appearance, his speed and ability just annoyed him to extent, he was almost jealous if one were to look at it in a different light. Cero was the smart one, but he, in his own way, was very lazy when it came to work. he did everything he needed to do to pass and keep his high grades, but it kept from him from doing any real work in class. Most of the time he either slept of began to draw the odd symbols from the night of the murder. It was something that constantly haunted his mind, and one day he would get over it.

Yuki on the other hand seemed to be straightening out her shirt as she spoke up, noticing now that Sekurai was walking along side them towards the school. "Hey Seku-chan!" It was rather odd how she came up with his nickname, she never liked saying his entire name for it seemed like demonic chant to her. The words, they just didn't form right in her mind so she would never say them. She was a kind and gentle woman though, she loved to joke around and loved even more when she got to spend some time with the two of them, or just Cero for that matter. She absolutely hated being alone, at any time at all.

Tilting his head to the side slightly he shrugged. “…sorry Cero.” Sekurai replied. “I’ll make sure to give you a heads up. I don’t want you pissin yourself do I now?” Sekurai replied, looking over his shoulder towards Cero. He scoffed when Yuki called him. “….Oi Yuki…” he replied, rolling his eyes at the sudden use of the nickname “seku-chan.” He’d been getting called that for a month now….and it still pissed him off. Sekurai slipped both of his hands into his pockets as he continued to walk. Well…at least he wouldn’t be horribly late for class….it was better then showing up two hours in the middle of it….not that he did…there’s a difference between 1 hour and 2.

"Whatever Seku...." Cero's lazyiness at times knew no bounds, even when it came to names. He didn't like having to say their entire name so at times, he would shorten it to at least one or two syllables. Cero groaned as he looked over at Yuki then noticed a group of guys walking behind them. They seemed to have been following them for about two minutes now, but it was now getting on Cero's nerves. "Hey Seku...we got company..."

Cero stopped suddenly, obviously trying to tip the other guys off that he was watching them. It was then, he spoke like he rarely did, completely serious and with a tone close enough to a murderer. "You...back away before I have to hurt you. And trust me, this is your only warning." Cero did not even bother looking back at them. His mind quickly began to analyze each position they would try to attack him from. With his back to them, he was able to swing around and strike at least two of them before needing to put more power into his fists or legs. He was now looking at Sekurai and Yuki. "Yuki, keep on going. Seku...jump in if you feel like it."

The three men looked over at Cero as the man who seemed to be the leader started laughing. "You trying to punk us or something kid? Yeah right, like we're gonna be afraid of you." The leader continue to laugh as he stepped closer than placed his hand on Cero's shoulder. "Maybe you should run along, and ignore us." Cero smirked as his whole face seemed to twist into an downright evil expression. He quickly spun around upon the heels of his feet, landing one fist into the man's stomach and using his other palm to push him back. "Never...touch...me..."

Noticing the footsteps following after them Sekurai blew it off. Hands still slipped into his pockets he stopped after Cero’s words. ‘Damn it….we could’ve made it to the school….s**t it’s home base….they wouldn’t have been able to do s**t….” He mumbled, his mind racing. At the mention of Cero telling Yuki to continue on his eyes shut completely. Immediately he held his arms back, his backpack sliding off of his back and down his arms by the straps, the backpack hitting the ground with a loud thud. Sekurai brushed at his shoulder slightly. “….fine…I wouldn’t have been on time anyways….” Sekurai mumbled, looking over towards Yuki, putting a hand on her shoulder, giving her a light push in the direction of the school. “….best do as he says…you know how he gets.” Sekurai warned Yuki. At this he watched as the three men approached Cero, the leader placing a hand on Cero’s shoulder.

‘…..That means…’ his was one of those few rare occasions in which his body seemed to vanish from view for only a moment. He reappeared, running right past Cero, tackling one of the lackeys, the head of the lackey slamming into the ground, the surprise attack seemingly knocking him unconscious. Immediately Sekurai jumped up, his fist once again raised as his gaze turned towards the other lackey. “….what the hell?” Sekurai said aloud. “….you guys really blow….”

“BLOW!?!?? YOU DID WHAT TO MY MOM!?” the lackey yelled in a literally “retarded” fashion.

At this Sekurai sweat dropped. “…..I did “everything” to her.”

At this the lackey immediately slid his hand into his pocket, pulling out a switchblade.

Cero growled to himself as he watched the leader slid back a few feet then tried to stand back up. "Come on now...you're not going down that easily now are you?" The leader glared at Cero as he wiped his mouth, a small dribble of blood running down, obviously ready to fight some more. "Come on! GET UP!" Cero's voice seemed to be itching with anticipation for a good fight, but he knew he would only be disappointed at some point in the fight. The leader jumped to his feet as he charged once more at Cero, not aware of what he could do.

Cero's mind rushed as he felt himself analyzing the enemy along with talking to himself. 'Too easy, he leaves his main body open. Oh well, I thought this was going to be fun...nothing ever is anymore. None of this Karakura kids know how to fight, except Sekurai that is...' The leader charged right towards Cero as he lifted his hand, pulling out a switch blade, ready to stab Cero right away. "I don't think so." Cero waited for the moment in which to strike as he grabbed onto the leader's wrist and let loose a loud snap into the air. The switchblade hit the ground as Cero took his other hand and placed it upon the leader's head. "I gave you a chance..." The leader screamed out in pain as he felt his wrist crack, now it was obviously broken.

Cero then felt a wave of pleasure pulse into his body, he was enjoying the fight too much already for it to end just yet. He quickly pushed the leader back, making him stumble and fall down once more. "Get up!" Cero began to walk towards the leader as he grabbed his leg and began to forcefully spin him. The leader was now spinning a few inches from the ground as he watched everything around him begin to spin faster and faster. This was not a good sign.

“……25 seconds…” Sekurai mumbled underneath his breath, looking down towards the lackey who lay o nthe ground, clutching the switchblade tightly in one hand as Sekurai kept the tips of his feet pressed against the wrist of the lackey. “….I’d rather be in class….you made me late….tch…” Sekurai quickly stomped the wrist, a loud cracking sound emitting through the air as the thug howled in agony. “….punk-a**-b***h…” Sekurai said after kicking the lackey in his mouth, literally kicking a tooth out.

Sekurai turned to Cero. “….hey hurry up…let’s go….” Sekurai said calmly. “Make sure you pick up that switchblade if you touched it with your hands. We got class…” Sekurai mumbled, walking over towards the backpack he dropped on the ground, picking it back up, sliding it on.

Cero's body seemed to immediately stop as he heard Sekurai speaking directly to him. The leader flung from Cero's hands and flew high into the air, hitting the wall that Sekurai had jump previously. The leader then fell unconscious as a splash of blood hit the wall, showing he was most certainly injured more than just externally. "Meh...fine. They were too easy anyways." Cero shrugged as he turned and began to walk towards Yuki, obviously no longer caring for the fight any longer. It was rather odd how easily he was able to switch his interests, and not give them a second thought.

"This means we're late for first hour...why go back? might as well go do something fun instead. Anyone up for a movie or something?" Cero was curious since he heard there was one good one. It was some kind of fighting documentary set in the feudal era of Japan, back when swords were used frequently and everybody seemed to be at war with each other. "Come on...it'll be fun..."

Yuki looked back at Cero as she sighed. "I guess he's got a point. Why head into first hour if we already missed some of it? It's either all or nothing right?" Yuki smiled as she walked over to Cero and gave him a quick hug. "Which movie you got in mind? That fighting one I suppose?"

Sekurai’s eyes closing half way, he slowly frowned, turning his gaze from Yuki and Cero. That lucky b*****d….the girl that adored him and or vice versa was his girlfriend….and Sekurai himself had no one. Perhaps he was afraid of telling the girl he cared about out front….afraid of confessing to her his feelings. Eyes closed he simply nodded. “Whatever you guys want,” ‘I guess…..’

Slipping his hands into his pockets he slipped out a bit of money. He had more then enough for a ticket, some food, and left over for today’s lunch. Probably after this movie he’d head right back to class….after all if he slipped up it’d mean “Sayonara Nihau.”

Turning hisgaze towards the school he sighed, turning his back to it, keeping him form changing his mind. “Fine let’s just do this s**t already…come on you two…lead on.” He said with an agitated sigh. After all they did know this city better then he did.

"Thats the spirit Seku-chan!" Yuki began to jump up and down, her excitement barely being contained by the option to skip the class and have some fun. "Hey Cero-san...which movie you wanna see?" Cero glanced over slightly as he seemed to have become lost within the confides of his own mind, almost not paying attention at all. "Uh...how bout that Fury Fighter or something like that. Looks good to me." Cero shrugged slightly as he walked up next to Sekurai and gave him a quick pat on the shoulder. "We can get you someone for the day, if you want."

Yuki, on the other hand, was busy looking through her backpack for money in order to pay for her ticket, Cero obviously more interested in speaking with Sekurai as he stopped than looked away from the school. "We'll cut across the park and head for the main shopping district. More choices there for both before and after the movie. Sound good?" Cero nodded gently as he began to walk ahead of the group, knowing they would follow without him needing to pay too much mind to them.

Eyes closed halfway, Sekurai gave a simple shrug to Cero’s comment on getting him someone for the day. “Eh….whatever….fine then.” he mumbled. Twitching slightly at the sound of the Fatal Fury movie he shook his head quickly. “Hold on!!!” he said aloud, beginning to walk, distancing himself from the school. “Why can’t we go see a monster like movie…like a Dinosaur movie or….a Dragon movie…those have fighting in it.” He replied, his eyes still closed half way. Dragons, Harpies, Demons, and Vampires; Sekurai often found himelf dreaming of such monsters, most of the time dreaming of himself being such a monster. At times hje thought that creatures besides humans had it so much easier….

Shaking his head slowly he pulled out a single coin, flipping it repeatedly as he walked slowly.

"Any of those sound good, but are there any in theatres now?" That was Cero's only reply to the statement. He wouldn't be surprised if there were, but he did not know of any. "Do you know of any Yuki?" Cero glanced back at the woman, hoping she knew of some kind of movie Sekurai may be more interested in.

"A monster movie? Well, there was this one about aliens attacking a city or something. I dunno, it looked interesting but kinda boring to me. Does that sound like something you're looking for Seku-chan?" Yuki quickly caught up to the two of them as she now walked between Sekurai and Cero, keeping close to them yet talking with both of them with ease.
