I saw Rush this year for their "Snakes and Arrows Tour". It was beyond amazing, though there were a few songs that I was dissappointed not to hear. Here's a list of some of the songs they left out.
"Closer to the Heart" (Neil made a statement about this one. He said they got sick of it)
"Xanadu"
"2112"
"The Trees"
"La Villa Strangiato"
Hopefully the trio will tour again sometime soon and will include these epics. Anyone else miss these?

Yes my dear, I too saw the concert this year when they came to Pittsburgh. I honestly cannot remember which songs they played and didn't play, but I can understand them not playing a lot of their older songs. With only a limited amount of time on stage, they have to focus on the new album and then try to fill the rest of the time with their myriad of songs. They are never going to be able to please everyone, but since all of their songs are awesome, I don't really care if I miss a couple that I really and truely love. I can always put their cd in my stereo after the concert and listen to them on the way home.
btw, did you see the new Sticky in the Concert subforum? The boys are going back out on tour next year. Maybe you will get a chance to hear those songs afterall.

I would've liked to hear Closer to the Heart, but it wasn't a big deal. I really had hoped they'd play Roll the Bones. Ah well, maybe they will in 2008.

They didn't play ANYTHING from the late 80's and early 90's, which was really disappointing, considering those albums are overall my favorites. I'm hoping to hear more of those the next time around.

Really? It's been awhile, so I don't remember all of the set list, but I could've sworn they played "Dreamline" (Roll the Bones; '91) and "Open Secrets" (Hold Your Fire; '87).

I went to their concert this past august at the sleep train amphitheater... I was really disappointed they didn't play Closer to the Heart, but they played 2112. I wonder why they played it there and didn't play it at the concert you went to?

I have to say, I hate it when they play 2112 in concert. I love the song, but I love the WHOLE song, all played together, not the small part they always play in concerts. Not to mention that Geddy's voice isn't quite up to hitting parts of the Temples anymore (can anyone blame him? I mean, I'm female, I'm sixteen, and I can barely hit that...).

When they played "Witch Hunt" at Red Rocks, a helicopter flew over, and my father and I were talking about how weird it would be to be flying and all of a sudden see green laser beams shooting up in front of you. It would be like being dropped into a sci-fi movie or something. mrgreen

Here's the '07 leg setlist. I was pleased with it. Too bad I didn't get Snakes and Arrows until Christmas! I only knew Far Cry when I went to the show.
"Limelight" "Digital Man" "Entre Nous" "Mission" "Freewill" "The Main Monkey Business" "The Larger Bowl (A Pantoum)" "Secret Touch" "Circumstances" "Between the Wheels" "Dreamline"
Intermission
"Video Intro" "Far Cry" "Workin' Them Angels" "Armor And Sword" "Spindrift" "The Way the Wind Blows" "Subdivisions" "Natural Science" "Witch Hunt" "Malignant Narcissism" "Drum Solo" "Hope" "Summertime Blues" (alternating with "Distant Early Warning" starting on July 4, 2007 and permanently added to the setlist for the entire European leg) "The Spirit of Radio" "Tom Sawyer" Encore:
"One Little Victory" "A Passage to Bangkok" "YYZ"

Lethkhar They didn't play Closer To The Heart nor 2112...Though I was pleasantly surprised when they played Witch Hunt. I love Witch Hunt. They didn't leave out Closer To The Heart when I saw them, though... at least I don't think they did. I was sad that they left out Red Barchetta and Red Sector A. Leave That Thing Alone and La Villa Strangiato would have been fun, also. sad
