Anyone have any questions?

Two reasons I can think of, and both would work.

1. He took Gohan to try and make Goku/Kakarot follow him to the Saiyan Space Pod, where he would trade sparing Gohan's life for Goku's joining him in the destruction of planets.

2. He took Gohan to train him in the ways of the Saiyan Race in Goku's place, since Goku rejected Raditz's offer to join him.

Ok, here's the whole story:

There are several theories that come with time travel, but the 2 biggest are the parallel world theory and the branching theory (as I'm going to call them). For the parallel world theory, each world is independent of each other and are almost like mirror images of each other as say you turn left in your world, the you in the parallel world would turn right. Futurama did a very good job at explaining this in one of their episodes as a near-infinite number of worlds can exist in this fashion. It's like parallel dimensions: similar, yet different somehow.

The other theory is the branching theory. Think of time as the trunk of a tree. As it grows, branches go off in their own way stemming from the trunk. For time, those branches occur because of a choice that had 2 effects. One choice stays on the trunk while the other branches off and does its own thing. And a branching timeline can have branches of its own, just like on a real tree. But if one travels to the past, they will probably end up on the main time stream around the time of the split from theirs.

Okay, now that the main theories are out there and basicaly explained, let's go to the manga. While transporting Goku to Master Roshi's, Future Trunks thinks of a way to destroy the androids by going back through time again. Gohan then asked what would happen to the androids in 'present'. This is Future Trunks' response: "Oh... that's right...! The future of that timeline would be saved from the androids... but there'd be no change in this timeline, where the androids already exist! (Krillin asks what he means) ...Okay... for example...your Goku's life was saved by the medicine I brought from the future... But in my timeline, Goku still died from the disease. In other words, there's both a future in which Goku has died... and one in which he lived. Each change in the past creates new futures."

With that said, the theory of time used in the story is the Branching effect. In the story, there's only 3 timelines in which we know. The main timeline, Future Trunks' timeline (which is branched off of the main timeline), and the one where Cell is originally from (which is branched off of Future Trunks' timeline).

Well, it's 'cause of Goku's non-stop crying for days on end, and Goku's little baby-pod was right next to Broly's. That would get pretty annoying pretty fast, especially to a baby. Plus, being named after Broccoli can't have helped his self-esteem any.
