I tried starting it this weekend, and it flashed the blue screen of death at me, then restarted it self saying "windows just recovered from a serious error, bla bla bla bla".
And it wanted to know how to start, so I just chose safe mode, but it still restarted it self.
I put in our old computers hard drive, and it worked fine, so it has to be the hard drive we have now.
So my uncle said I should just re-install windows xp on it, or w/e OS, and it will be fine.
Although it'll be reformatted, so bye bye all my precious files.
[Whether the precious files were legally obtained or not, is of no concern to you. ;D]
I'll have to use torrents for quite some time....


MAYBE I SHOULD JUST PUT LINUX ON IT?

have you tried running it not in safe mode?


I tried EVERYTHING.
I tried starting it normally, I tried starting it from the last known good configuration, I tried Safe Mode with Networking too.
It just didn't wanna start.




BUT!
I fixed it, I took the hard drive outta the computer, and put hooked it up to my grandma's computer and ran a virus scan on the whole thing....

FOUND 1079 VIRUSES.
Deleted all those, and then I tried starting it at my grandma's AAAAAND it did not start STILL.
But when I got home, I hooked it back up in preparation for reformatting, and turned it on, and it started...I'm on it right now.
So I saved everything.
Woo.
Go me.

Actually, they probably all came from Limewire, I ******** hate Limewire after what it did to me.
Norton sucks as a virus detector.

even afteri i delted all norton off of my computer, it still pops up reminding me to re-suscribe

I wish I had Linux.

I do my part for my internet security by abandoning IE and going for Safari after Firefox started ending itself at random, but now Safaris doing it to (IE always did it) and since firefox will restore my windows i had, i might go back to firefox. Unless someone knows how to stop this?
