The other obligatory Sci-fi thread! Post here about all things Trek! Admittedly I've only seen parts of the original series, Next Generation, and Voyager (I really didn't like Deep Space 9), and only part of the first episode of Enterprise. The last movie I saw was First Contact. There is supposed to be a prequel movie about Spock and Kirk being made.

razz Go make a Star Trek wiki to compete with Wookiepedia!

My favorite ST series is Next Generation, with Deanna Troy as my favorite character. whatever happened to her? I thought near the end of NG, she hooked up with Worf, but then he married Jadzia Dax (who dies)?

it was Jadzia Dax who die and Riker and Troi got married in the begining of Star Trek nemisis.

i personaly liked deep space nine especialy after worf joined the crew and the whole diminon war deal happened. (fan of space battles)

Ah, Star Trek...brings back memories of my youth.
I'll have to disagree with the comment that Star Wars is better then Star Trek...Where as Star Wars is about being flashy, they forgot something that Star Trek has been doing very well. Star Trek has never strayed far from the world of possibility...They have kept the bases of probable technological advancement. Now how was that said in the older Star Wars movie...There half a day ahead and traveling at the speed of light...then the comment that ruined it for me was"they'd be half way acrossed the galaxy by now"...Well im sorry to say Lucas...but at the speed of light, to make it half way acrossed the galaxy it would take sevral human life times. So really my point being, Star Trek is realistic to a degree, and Star Wars is beyond impossible...

yes indeed, startrek, one of my favorite things in this world, of course it is far from dead, it was closer to being dead years before next generation and it managed to continue on now the fan following is larger then it has ever been before, and recently seeing a 30 second trailer for the upcoming movie has left me in awe, i really cannot decide which is my favorite series but i love them all, they each had interesting perks and such to them i couldnt decide between next gen. ,ds9,or voyager really, though it might just be next generation....dunno for sure...as for startrek, it is correct in scientific basis compared to other science fiction series, everything stated in the show is either known as a fact of the universe or is something considered at the very least in theory, all the technologies seem at times beyond the scope of our capabilities, but one would be surprised to find how much of our technology is actually head in that direction, EVEN transporter technology, it may not be in our lifetime but we will see things like transporters and other wonders of startrek that many assumed was just a fiction for all time. i pride myself in knowing of technology and sciences in this world and of the startrek world, all much more similar and growing closer to this day.

I found the teaser trailer on Youtube:
Star Trek XI Teaser Trailer
I think i might actually want to go see this one. I haven't seen a Star Trek movie since "First Contact." I have to say my favorite ST movie is VI: The Undiscovered Country. The whole idea of a "cultured" Klingon warlord is still pretty awesome. General Chang could recite Shakespeare and kill those who stood in his way heart .

before you go see it i advise you watch startrek:insurrection and startrek:nemesis the two movies made beforehand....their quite good...insurection has some interesting themes to it, and nemesis has alot to do with the romulans and a major battle occurs there in romulan space.

Do they ever explain in the movies/TV shows/books about how exactly the Romulans broke away from the Vulcans? There was also supposed to be something going on with the Kilngons which explains why they look different in the original Trek series compared to the NG and subsequent series. The change was mentioned in the episode of the Voyager series where they spliced the Voyager crew in with the "Trouble with Tribbles" footage to make it seem like the crew had gone back in time. I thought it was a pretty neat concept.

oops i meant nemesis has to do with romulans....sorry...anyways it was ds9 that had the episode with the trouble with tribbles stuff and they never officially in the episode fully explain it, but what i have found with some research is that(and they did a good job of covering this over continuity wise) klingons or somethin were messing with a gene splicing thingy or something mabob that made all klingons revert to the state you see in the original series i.e. no bumps on the head and such, it would then take a number of hundred years of sexin it up till the bumps would reappear on klingons due to the genetic changes to thin out in the blood and be lost in time and such....in my opinion a good way to cover this continuity wise as the fact they didnt have makeup and such back then that could do that stuff and now we do made a problem continuity wise, but it is fixed...and the romulans are an offshoot of the vulcan race, they disregarded the new ways of nonemotion and logic and left the planet to make their own path...they are a bit more emotional ironically then the average person is....

I've heard of this event called the Dominion war. I never really watched much of DS9, voyager, or Enterprise, and I haven't read the books either. After listening to some people compare Star Wars to Star Trek it seems like it was a pretty huge event that changed a lot of technology and stuff associated with the series. I guess it was like the Yuuzhan Vong war in Star wars where they killed
Chewbacca and had Mara Jade and Luke Skywalker get married and make a baby.
